In contrast, Brown estimates it would only cost about $10 billion to $12 billion a year to "virtually end hunger in our nation."

Great article berk.
It is disappointing when many people fail to assess the fundamantal treatment of problems as opposed to the cost of that same problem.
Here it is the equivalent of $70 billion in losses as a result of our failure to treat the issue.
Similarly, the cost of health care could be significantly reduced if handled effectively.
Non-treatment is often more costly than the cure.
