Now, just who in hell does Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki think he is in supporting a proposed 16-month timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. This a$$hole acts like he's Prime Minister of a sovereign nation or something instead of an occupied, conquered country.
Has he discussed this with Bush, Cheney and McCain yet? Have Neocons and Repukes signed off on this? What about the oil companies? The nerve!

        This sounds to me like the Bush crime family made him an offer he can't refuse (like an all expense paid, one-way trip to Abu Ghraib) unless he recanted.

        Your source does NOT dispute the notion that Maliki favors a timeline for troop redeployment. It only states:
        1) Maliki's call for a timeline should not be understood as an endorsement for Obama (Maliki prefers to remain neutral)

        2) Maliki thinks Obama's estimated 16-month timeline should be extended slightly.

        I keep telling you! You MISSED the MEMO! The 16-month 'demand' has been DROPPED from the website!
        Now, it's the 16-month 'suggestion':
        "Military experts believe we can safely redeploy combat brigades from Iraq at a pace of 1 to 2 brigades a month that would remove them in 16 months..."
        Oh, and you can STOP trashing the Surge, too, as B. Hussein has dropped that part of the 'talking points' as well.
        Oh, and you forgot the new 'talking point' that "Under the Obama plan, a residual force will remain in Iraq", for WHO KNOWS HOW LONG!
        (Don't feel too bad about missing that one; apparently al Maliki didn't get it, either.)

        Obama's 16-month timeline has ALWAYS been a flexible estimate based on the available data. He has ALWAYS been open to adjusting this in accordance with advice from commanders in the field. Obama has always been consistent that our troops need to be redeployed as quickly, safely, and responsibly as possible, but he has been flexible in exactly how much time that would take to accomplish.

        Wrong again. He has been consistent in his criticism that while the Troop Escalation may lead to temporary short-term security gains, the Surge alone:
        1) would NOT guarantee diplomatic progress
        2) may siphon needed troops away from Afghanistan

    AG you are grasping at straws now, bush and his boys are still in power and he watched first hand what they did to SH, do you really think he is going to test their metal on this. And you yourself said in another post that bush and al-Maliki has agreed in principal to start reducing the troop level in Iraq, did you not? While it's noble to stand ones ground, a wise person recognize defeat and in most cases acknowledges it. You are dead wrong on this one if this is your position!
