Wrong again. al Maliki agrees with Obama that troops should be redployed as quickly, safely, and responsibly as possible. However,:
1) al Maliki doesn't want use comments to be misconstrued as an endorsement of Obama's candidacy, since al Maliki doesn't know who's going to win yet.
FROM YOUR OWN ARTICLE:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/07/19/almal...
"Al-Maliki said his remarks did not indicate that he was endorsing Obama over McCain. 'Who they choose as their president is the Americans' business.'"
2) al Maliki's timeline (36 - 60 months) simply differs slightly from Obama's (16 months).
"Asked when most U.S. troops would leave Iraq, Maliki said: 'As soon as possible. Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That would be the right timeframe, with the possibility of slight changes. The premise of short time periods in Iraq are being more realistic. Artificially prolonging the tenure of US troops in Iraq would cause problems.'"
