AG - Did you really read the article closely? The close-circuit discussion between Bush and al Maliki came FIRST. That is where they agreed on a "general time horizon."
AFTER THAT (the next day), al Maliki had the interview w/ the German publication where he essentially agreed w/ Obama's 16 month limits.
"The tenure of the coalition troops in Iraq should be limited."
"Those who operate on the premise of short time periods in Iraq are being more realistic."
So, al Maliki seems to have defined more clearly what his concept of "general time horizon" meant AFTER he spoke w/ Bush. Unfortunately, he seems to have diverged from Bush's position.
There goes Bush's military base in Iraq.
There goes McCain's 100 year war.
