Bridge collapse hurts workers at Indiana casino
Posted by: ap 4 weeks, 1 day agoHAMMOND, Ind. (AP) _ Officials say several construction workers fell into Lake Michigan when a bridge at a floating casino collapsed.
Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller said the collapse about 8 a.m. Tuesday involved a bridge at the Horseshoe Casino, where a new gambling boat has been under construction. He said two workers were initially trapped by the collapse, but were freed by emergency personnel.
Debbie Conover of the Hammond Fire Department said 10 to 12 workers fell into the lake and most of them suffered cuts, bruises and other minor injuries.
She said two other workers were taken to a local hospital but she did not immediately know their conditions.
Horseshoe is nearly finished building a new $485 million casino boat just across the state line from Chicago.
