Last month the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the District of Columbia had violated the Second Amendment by making armed self-defense in the home impractical and banning the most popular weapons used for that purpose. Last week the D.C. Council responded by unanimously approving a law that makes armed self-defense in the home impractical and bans the most popular weapons used for that purpose.

FTA: "D.C.'s political leaders know they are inviting another Second Amendment lawsuit, but they are determined to defy the Supreme Court and the Constitution for as long as possible."

They are like little children who are told not to do something. DC politicos are searching desperately for loopholes in the bill of rights.

"The Washington Post reports that D.C.'s acting attorney general, Peter Nickles, "said residents could neither keep their guns loaded in anticipation of a problem nor search for an intruder on their property." According to Nickles, if you see an armed criminal charging your home, or in the event of "an actual threat by somebody you believe is out to hurt you," you're allowed to get your gun, unlock it, and load it."

      Yeah that's a good plan.
"If you will just wait here, mr criminal. I have to go get my gun out of its locked case, my ammo out of another locked case, load a clip and then I will be ready to defend myself."

"can I get you a soda or something? This will likely take a while."

        FTA
"Speaking of registration, the District has established a burdensome 12-step process that involves multiple trips to gun dealers and government offices, fingerprinting, a written exam, and ballistic testing. How long does all this take? "Up to 14 days," according to one police department publication. "Approximately eight weeks," according to another. "There are circumstances where it could take months," says Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

I guess it will take another law suit to ensure the rights of people in Washington D.C.
The actions of the officials in D.C. show the lack of respect these people have for the law and the people of their community.

Human nature will never change. As long as there are people who appear vulnerable, there will allways be the unscrupled who seek to pray uppon them. They are the criminal element who have no respect for laws, including gun laws, whom we MUST be able to protect ourselves from. And if FEAR of being shot back at is the only effective deterant to keep me safe, then screw the gun laws, I'm carrying TOO!
