How far does it go...can the police come and get you if they don't like what you say on the Internet? Who gets to decide what's acceptable. What is he gonna do, send in a team of Thugs to shut them up?
That kind if thing would make the US officially a Police State.

The right-wing Supreme Court and the feeble Democratic Congress has failed to exercise their power to constrain an authoritarian Republican Executive. The right-wing has fundamentally changed this nation to an authoritarian state because the American people are too ideological and stupid. Face it, the argument that the Republicans use to grab power and act unconstitutionally were and are accepted by most Americans. That so many Americans supported the Bush administration "to make us safe" scared the political left in this country to the point that it is now part of the Republican party.
the authoritarianism that we are experiencing is the result of the audacity of the people to stand up to the powers that be in the 1960s and 1970s. Right-wing governance is the price we pay for acting as citizens.
Ben Franklin's words are so true: "He who would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will lose both and deserve neither."

Except that there is no "right to privacy" guaranteed by the constitution.
Unreasonable search and seizure of your person, or in your home, or in your papers or effects. Sure. But you don't have the right to privacy when in public (or in a public forum). There's no such right.
On the other hand, there's no "right to disclosure," so no court should grant a request to disclose identities... but if AOL wanted to release them, it would be able to do so voluntarily (unless that would violate their contract with the user).
The "right to face your accuser" in court only applies when court action is taken.
From what I can tell. AOL can tell whoever they want whatever they want. Or choose not to. And they shouldn't be compelled to reveal (or conceal) any information by law.

The Police Director should really be called Police Dictator. Can't say anything bad about the fearless leader who obviously can't stand criticism. The way I understand the blog is that it functions as a place police officers could go to voice their complaints or just vent anonymously. This is an attempt to squash freedom of speech by intimidation by trying to find out the identity of the blog creator. And if this is the way this dictator operates, he'll most likely make life hell for him.

On the Internet there is no such thing as freedom of speech , you either get banned or harassed for putting your thoughts out where people can read them .

Kind of like Ebay , if you have a problem with a seller and their product and negative review them , they have the right to negative review you as well , even though they are at fault , you are forced to remove your comment or face ridicule for truth of a bad event .
Same anywhere , negative comment and you will be ridiculed , banned and forced to remove a true comment , no freedom there . -

Free Speech is when it involves one or more private parties versus the government, not when it involves only private parties. As a result, since the Memphis Police Department is a government entity, private people have the right to say anything they want about the government including people who work for the government in their government capacity.

Free Speech involves one or more private citizens versus the government not when it involves only private citizens. As a result, private citizens can say anything they want about the government under the Constitution which includes government employees in their government capacity. The Memphis Police Department, obviously, doesn't understand this and is nothing more than a Redneck entity.

I am gonna try to post a link to the blog that started all the trouble.
http://mpdenforcer20.blogspot.com/
The mayor came out on the side of the police director todaym but gave no compelling reasons other than we should just trust them.
It seems there is serious corruption among some very highly placed people.
I think this should be called for what this is. They are trying to GET the whistleblowers and execute reprisals.

They don't have to like what someone says and they can even reply to it with their own opinion.

But to arrest someone for their opinion or views.
Is just what Nazi did.
We live in a F.U.B.A.R world and people need to speak out against the injustice in it.
To throw down corrupt governments that abuse their power.
It is not only their right ,but their duty.
To preserve our rights and Freedoms. -

That's not freedom of speech. You don't have the right to post whatever you want on Propeller. The Propeller servers are private property, and Propeller has the right to do with its own property whatever it wants.
Freedom of speech means that if you have your own server, you can say whatever you want on it and not have it shut down. (Provided that it's all legal.)
If Propeller wants a smut-free site, or an all-liberal-slanted site, or an all-Nazi site (that doesn't incite violence), then that's THEIR freedom of speech to give the message THEY want.
