In speech after speech, Senator Barack Obama has vowed that he will lower the country’s health care costs enough to “bring down premiums by $2,500 for the typical family.” Moreover, Mr. Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has promised that his health plan will be in place “by the end of my first term as president of the United States.”

    Obama's health plan is a vast waste of time and resources. Like other attempts to fix this particular chicken coop without getting rid of the weasels.

    Iffn you want to fix US health care, you have to eliminate profiteering by both medical insurers and medical providers. A single-payor system with price caps and aggressive prosecution of fraud and abuse would go a long way towards that.

    But Obama would never propose that, it would be unfriendly to the AMA, the AHA and Big Pharma. Better to sell something that looks like reform but isn't- it'll get the votes of the chumps who want desparately to believe, and won't incur the wrath of Corporate Medicine.
