Did anyone explain to Barack, Germans can't vote in an American election? This isn't the south side of Chicago or San Diego. Why would he go to Germany? This is a terrible campaign stunt that will back fire. He's doing the same thing Hillary did, assume he's won the election.

JFK, can't say as I would know. Before my time.
As to Reagan, in what capacity? His tear down this wall speech was made after his victory. He was very anticommunist, was that one of the speeches? Before I can comment, I would need to hear or read them.
I knew President Reagan and always liked him. Even when I disagreed with him, I always respected him.

Making speeches in Germany isn't spending time overseas. At least not in the normal sense. He has no foreign service experience and I don't see him gaining it here. As to the crowds, I heard some of the live feed. Tried logging on to the Propeller sites but they didn't work, go figure. On the BBC feed two things caught my attention. The speech was a lot of nothing, so he's paying his usual hand. But what confused me, if he was such a huge draw, why have two bands charging up and attracting people? It sure sounded like U2. Kennedy and Reagan didn't need the help, why did he?

It's almost the same stump speech he made here in Milwaukee. I'm so happy my firm has requested I take over the EU operations. I've spent almost 6 years building up a great region. With the changes in the pipeline, my Swiss owners will shut down the entire US manufacturing and simply import, using contract distribution. The only things keeping business here was the decrease in the dollar. Jack taxes without controlling spending on social issues and we're dead.

That's because in order to work for my team you have to actually attend a school and learn a skill. Engineering, tool & die, architecture. Real skills. Not protesting 101 or how you feel is more important that what you know. Seeing what you've said in the past, that would also require to you pass a urine test so I'm pretty sure you would never work for us. That plus you'd have to leave your mommy's basement without your foil hat.

I agree but I didn't see Hillary in Germany. Actually doing one of these stunts, I've never seen anyone do it before. Then again, I've never seen any of the candidates willfully alter the Presidential Seal but Barry's team did. Again, double standards. Had Reagan done that, the press would have gone nuts. Bush 41 or 43, you bet. Double standards. Then again, I've never seen three "top" anchors fly with a jr. senator whose running for president and acting like his press secretaries either. If he wins, I hope you're ready for the steep job losses and declines in all sectors.

Thought I commented before, our allies are fine, for the President or the President elect. This guy is neither at this time. He's doing a world win stunt, kind of like the old Hitler rallies called "Hitler over Germany". while I wouldn't call him Hitler, he's using that play book. Lots of fluff, hyperbole and pageantry without any substance.
He's pitched we should pull all our troops out. That would include Germany. How many of those German citizens would celebrate if they realized they'd have to pay for their own army and loose somewhere around $ 15 billion. That's taking into account the entire economic impact we have on their nation. I suspect most haven't actually read anything he's written. I understand. I can't find much on him either.

Where did you get the idea that only the 'President' can speak overseas? Barak Obama is a presidential candidate, as well as a United States Senator. As a candidate and as a Senator he has a message for the people of Europe, and he is backed by the American people who voted for him, both times. And he has shown, which so many have missed, that HE has the mandate to reach out and mend the disconnect between this country and Europe. He obviously understands that our relationships need mending, and has the intelligence to reach out and begin that process. If john mccain had the same mandate, those who are upset that Obama has taken that role would be cheering. And you know it.

You know the organization that has America at the forefront of their minds? That racist, bunch of thugs that would love nothing more to see America fall...
Oh, and speaking of Obama being such a huge UNITER of everybody, I guess you missed the article that talked about Osama's visit to Israel and the concern that most Israelites had about Osama "selling Israel off"...It's funny how those Israelites can see right through Osama's lies and conjecture, but the Germans are just brainwashed from all the liberal media over there...I could give a rats ass what they think of us...Really....
While he's dancing and parading around like the imbecile that he is, McCain is cleaning his clock on what really matters to the American people, Our energy crisis and the security of this country...

Why would it backfire when most of America knows how much damage Bush has done to our reputation worldwide? Maybe cons think the rest of the world thinks in the same narrow minded t way they do and live their lives to play sex police but that's nothing but warped right wing thinking. Why did you people obsess over what the rest of the world thought of us when Bill Clinton was representing our country and now suddenly when the international community gives Bush a resounding thumbs down, you think what everyone else feels about us is irrelevant? Why do you cheer Bush when he jumps in bed with Qadaffi but not when Obama tries to make amends with those we've p!ssed off? I don't get cons. ;-(

Exactly, a pure and simple campaign stunt. A pitiful attempt at trying to copy JFK and Reagan. They were great Presidents who spoke in times of real crisis, the cold war and separation of Berlin. Merkel is a conservative and, if Germans could vote in our election, she wouldn't vote for him.

Indeed, smithichie! I have to wonder about where it actually WILL fall, ultimately. Obama is popular in Germany and France but at the same time its just an American candidate! However, something like 70% of Germans feel the US election will be effecting them! In addition this is nice timing for Obama as well, in that local German politics are less likely to overshadow Obama's visit. I think we could see up to 200k people considering the high level of publicity this is receiving. The million estimate seems way to high... but 100k seems a tad low to me.

I agree McCain wouldn't but I think he'd manage over 10k. We must also include protesters to the Iraq war! By the same token this is the Obama phenomenon... but really, would a charismatic politician from the UK who held a seat in Parliament for only a couple of years get this kind of response? The world is watching the US elections... very closely. I think the fact that he is an American candidate for President and the likely winner is going to bring a significant number of people so they can gauge him.

I'm surprised that only 70% of the Germans feel the US election results will affect them. The way I see it, the US election results will affect the whole world, and that's why it is watched so closely. It affects everybody even under normal circumstances, and now, with two wars going on and the possibility of a third one, the effect is magnified.
I've seen some comments above from skeptics who claim that it was the rock bands that drew the crowds. I don't think so. I think he could attract similar crowds in almost any country because the world is just tentatively starting to hope after eight year of darkness.

It isn't a swipe if it is true.
"During a CBS interview on Tuesday, John McCain made a stone cold error on a subject about which he claims expert knowledge: the "surge" strategy in Iraq. In an interview with anchor Katie Couric, the Arizona Republican said, inaccurately, that the surge strategy was responsible for the much-touted "Anbar Awakening," in which Sunni sheiks turned against Al Qaeda, helping in turn to reduce violence in the country.
The fact remains, however, that the military official cited by McCain, then-Colonel Sean MacFarland, described the Anbar Awakening in September 2006 -- four months before the "surge" was even announced -- noting that tribal leaders were "stepping forward and cooperating with the Iraqi security forces against Al Qaeda." Moreover, a military review written by MacFarland notes that his unit actually left Anbar before most of the surge troops arrived; his success in the region came between June 2006 and February 2007."

Is it still a swipe if its true?
"McCain gets it wrong about Iraq timeline"
During a CBS interview on Tuesday, John McCain made a stone cold error on a subject about which he claims expert knowledge: the "surge" strategy in Iraq. In an interview with anchor Katie Couric, the Arizona Republican said, inaccurately, that the surge strategy was responsible for the much-touted "Anbar Awakening," in which Sunni sheiks turned against Al Qaeda, helping in turn to reduce violence in the country.
In fact, as Spencer Ackerman and Ilan Goldenberg have reported, the record firmly establishes the opposite: instead of being caused by the surge, the key signs of the Anbar Awakening occurred not only before that strategy was implemented, but before it was ever conceived.
Yet McCain's error was not seen by any CBS Evening News viewers. As MSNBC's Keith Olbermann noted (video below), "CBS curiously, to say the least, left it on the edit room floor. It aired Katie Couric's question, but in response, it aired part of McCain's answer to the other question instead." (Ironically, this edit came on the same day that McCain's campaign released a video mocking the media's "love affair" with Obama.)
The fact remains, however, that the military official cited by McCain, then-Colonel Sean MacFarland, described the Anbar Awakening in September 2006 -- four months before the "surge" was even announced -- noting that tribal leaders were "stepping forward and cooperating with the Iraqi security forces against Al Qaeda."

Obama is popular through out the world! It is not about obama as much as it is about this current administration and the it's attitude on the global stage. I hope all Americans see this for what it was and not buy into the spin. I see where people are already crying about his coverage, and how much of the media is there with him...I say good for them. At this point we are not the most love nation in the world but there he was getting more love from a global standpoint than Bush has ever garnered as president. This has send a message i hope we got it. I doubt that we did and i pray that we do!

What are the Germans cheering about? They cheered Hitler too.
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: 'A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in.. And how many want out.'

Ooopsie. Accidentally gave you a positive.
People are obsessed with Kennedy because for many he represents an idealized picture of the presidency -- with a president who actually loves his country and cares for the people as opposed to one who tries to figure out the best way to drain the treasury into the pockets of the corporations. Add to that the romance of a solidly-connected family (sorely lacking in American society today) and the challenge of an underdog fighting against bigotry (anti-Catholic) of the time. Add to that the solution of the Cuban missile crisis. Add to that the curiosity of people concerning how our country might have looked if he hadn't been murdered (in direct opposition to people today who wonder how much better our country might be if some leaders *were* murdered).
Sure it'd be great if Obama could surpass expectations and the example of Kennedy. Let's see, shall we.

You mean a President who was nearly court martialed for his role in the PT 109 disaster? You mean a President who nearly started a nuclear war and was outright defeated at the Bay of Pigs? You mean a President whose staff smuggled Marilyn Monroe out of the back door of the White House when Jackie came home? You mean a President born to a bootlegger and sibling to a line of famous falanderers and alcoholics? You mean a President who really didn't support any meaningful legislative agenda? Yeah, I can see the resemblence with Obamanation.

The reason people know JFK was his assassination. Kennedy wasn't a very good president. The missile crisis that everyone sights was actually caused by his first meetings with Khrushchev. He was ill prepared and bumbled through it. JFK didn't listen to the foreign office, he thought his charm would win the day, it didn't. Khrushchev thought him weak and started building missile sights.
Solid family? You really don't know anything about the Kennedy's do you. Most were or are drunks. Joe was a bootlegger and worked with the Irish mobs, had multiple mistresses. How about Rose Marie Kenneydy, in 1941, her father was told by her doctors that a lobotomy would help calm her "mood swings that the family found difficult to handle at home". Instead of producing the hoped-for result, however, the lobotomy reduced Rosemary to an infantile mentality that left her incontinent and staring blankly at walls for hours. The dumped her here in Wisconsin. Multi billionaires and they dumped her. Yea, right. Perfect first family... and the press never mentioned this either.

On this topic, no one really wants anything to do with the slim that is the Kennedy's. The press fell in love with them but the truth is they were dirty. Joe made all his money playing with booze and the Irish mob. He like his son had multiple mistresses. Why do people forget what they did to Rose Marie Kennedy. A lobotomy and then dumped her in a hospital in Wisconsin. They live in Massachusetts. JFK & RFK boinked anything that would hold still. They were almost as bad as Clinton. But the press never mentioned it. Just another example of the media protecting a Dem.

That would be a rich family solidly connected to evil greedy corporate fat cats and living off the backs of the poor working class, as I constantly hear from you libs. None of the Kennedys ever had a real job and live off Joseph Kennedy's fortune which started with drug smuggling and built up with stock market speculation.

Before you accuse me of not listening to the whole thing, I was there. She clearly was on script and clearly said this was the first time she was proud of America. For a country and party to claim race is no longer important, the DNC certainly is playing the race card here. Once again.

Actually, had the US fought in WW2, there is a very good change the Germans would have eventually beat the Russians. Had they been able to push them a little further back, Turkey would have joined in and taken back areas in the middle east lost during WW1. Without the Suez, Britain would have fallen and then it would have been a matter of time. The Germans were working on rockets and recently released records indicate they were working on dirty bomb technologies. Without oil, weapons and food from the US, the Red Army would have been destroyed in 42. German would be the language and Lintz the new capital, of Germania. BTW-the current EU flag was actually designed by the Nazis as is the current Olympic flag. Funny how they had such a force of evil could design a few unique things.

Myself when looking at what you just posted see someone whose mental stability is definitely in question.
I find this typical of Obama supporters. Foaming at the mouth, name calling, ranting about all the problems they have blamed on this person or that.
You want change do ya, You better keep in mind things don't always change to make you happier. You better be real careful what you go wishing for. Sometimes some good hard thought goes a lot further towards fixing a situation than a roll of the dice and a wish. You might want to take a good look at what Obama plans on changing and how.

seems a tad rabid, don't you think?
not a particularly good metaphor either
after all, Bush was the prez who God talked to[if you know yer bible, you know the antiChrist actually poses as one who is sanctioned by God]
also there will be a voluntary vote, which doesn't go with the 'rape' part
so please, if you're going to continue with the demagoguery, pay better attention to yer metaphors
and yes, the new propeller still blows hard, even if this posts[haven't posted successfully here yet]

AlphaGnosis: "Our country is being raped by the antichrist."
I've just checked it out in another thread, and I have it on good authority that Obama can't possibly be the Antichrist. Pastor Hagee explains in the video at the link below, that the Antichrist is part Jewish and gay. On the picture he shows, he also seemed to have really evil eyes and perhaps some horns too. I don't think either his description or the picture fits Obama.

There is a good cahnce Obama will win, but history is on his side in that. I don't have a problem with peoiple voting for him because he's black, it is a historic thing and wanting to vote for the first black is historic. But I hope they do look at what he says and what he stands to do a bit more and vote for him more for that reason, for the good of the country.
In the end, nothing is a sure thing though Scotty, just ask her highness Hillary if you have any doubts.

Well put, Slate.
I don't care if a candidate is black, white, green, or purple.
I DO want to know what he stands for and I want to know what he wants to do for the country.
I don't like to be snowed and EVENTUALLY Obama is going to have to take a stand on something, I would think. It's easy to stand in front of a crowd and give "I have a hope" speeches, but they are completely lacking any substance. I also want roofs over heads, food on tables, and healthy children... these are the same things promised by every dictator in the world as they rise to power. We deserve more.

N2N what he says is true,,, Obama will have many voting for him only because he is black,,,,, I've stated how I feel on that so don't call me a bigot,,,, but it is a true statement,,,,,, the dems say they are against bigotry, yet they talk about race 100 times more than anyone,,,, they group people into little slots on every issue,,,, and if we all remember they Democratic primaries were very racist as well as things said by the African 'leaders' even about Mr. Obama,,, calling him the N word and such,,,,, I'd not take the high horse approach about it iffn I were you.

I half expected some in the crowd to begin chanting : Seig Heil".... he gave a typical Lord Obama speech, long winded but not really saying anything new....I still have a hard time seeing what's so special about him....just another blathering politician....

I'll survive. However, I'm worried about the country and the rest of the world should McCain win.
Bush has been an unmitigated disaster and McCain would be more of the same. And you and AG and LibsR and all the other Bush apologists may poo-poo that off as liberal whining....BUT I DON'T CARE! I mean what I say...
