Pets with allergic (flea allergy dermatitis), auto-immune (pemphigus, rheumatoid arthritis), or inflammatory (arthritis, glomerulonephritis) conditions need more Omega 3 fatty acids. Research indicates that the omega-3 fatty acids are important for neurologic development in puppies. Pets that have chronic illness (FIV, FIP, cancer) need more Omega 6 fatty acids.

Yup.
Adding some fish oil to your pets food can make a great difference.
Krill oil is also great. After feeding my kitties salmon oil for years in their raw diet I tried to add some krill oil, and their coats got even more beautiful. Krill oil is also more palatable than for instance, salmon oil.Good article, and thanks for pointing out that cats need an animal source for their omegas, versus feeding cats oils from plants which is really questionable if it has any effect at all.
It is so easy to add some fish oil.... no reason all pet owners shouldn't provide that for their furry friends. Especially as they age and may have signs of arthritis. But it is never too early to start.
