McClellan: Fox News Commentators Use The ‘Talking Points’ That The White House Sends Them »

On MSNBC’s Hardball last night, host Chris Matthews asked former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan if he saw “FOX television as a tool” to get the White House’s “message out” while he was in the Bush administration. “Certainly there were commentators and other, pundits at FOX News, that were useful to the White House,” replied McClellan, adding that they were given “talking points.”

Nazi minister of propaganda Joseph Goebbels said "the press is a keyboard on which we can endlessly play."

    Not much has changed.

The media needs content, and the less labor going into it, the better for their bottom line. So MOST mainstream media becomes a Goebbels-style keyboard, because they are more than willing to uncritically regurgitate to the public whatever crap is fed to them by the White House and by various "think tanks." Please note, "think tank" is Orwellian doublespeak for propaganda mill.

Why is this no surprise? Both faux noise and the republicons have been lying to us for so long that they have no credibility left. All they do is make random noise.

This is good to know. As more GWB insiders desert, I suspect we'll hear a lot about this kind of thing.

McClellan just confirmed what intelligent people realized was going on between Fox and Bushocracy for a long, long time.

That's MSNBC for you. I can't believe people still watch MSNBC. Being in last place in the ratings (CNN and Fox News lead them), MSNBC does what it can to chop down Fox News. MSNBC needs to stop attacking Fox and concentrate on being a reputable news source instead of being an anti Republican front for the Democratic Party.
Case in point--Keith Olbermann. He was entertaining on ESPN but is utterly unwatchable on MSNBC. He doesn't report the news, he spends his time cutting down the present administration/other news outlets that don't agree with his politics.

The only question this answers for me is: "Is Faux News getting it's talking points from the White House, or is the White House getting it's talking points from Faux News?"

Look at the source for this story-"Thinkprogress.org". You can't tell me this site isn't a pro-left wing propaganda site. It's very obvious that this news source has an agenda. So, before you jump on the bandwagon and criticize Fox as not being "fair and balanced", take a close look at not only MSNBC, but the source for this story as well.

McClellen is promoting a book, anything to keep in the lime light. With his standard of ethics nothing is too low for Scott. If the White House could manage the Fox News Network they would manage all of the networks. He hit Fox because it is the hot topic of the day and because they hold the number one spot in cable news.

If Fox had some transparency and literally said that Cheney or Bush or someone in the Whitehouse had said X, then I doubt people would have as many problems as they do with what the Whitehouse did here. Obviously the GOP found an allie in Rupert Murdoch and they exploited it. Both sides. it is depressing to see that the government needs to stoop to this level yet at the same time when we remember that former CIA officials worked in the Regan press dept. they did the same thing. they manipulated the general public en mass. this has been a standard for Presidents since. Have already forgotten Robert Novak, Douchebag of freedom?

The White House gives their Fox puppets talking points, Rush Limbaugh watches Fox News to find out what he needs to say, which then filters down to the right wing blogosphere and finally winds up on Propeller where it gets flogged to death by about 3 of the usual suspects.
