Contraception Is the New Abortion »
Posted By Neophile 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsThe Bush administration has taken its latest swipe at contraception, but again under the pretense of opposing abortion. By manipulating scientific facts, the Department of Health and Human Services hopes to enshrine in federal law a conservative, ideological interpretation of pregnancy that has the potential to significantly limit women’s access to contraception.

Has Bush now embraced the Catholic Faith?? Most Catholics now accept contraceptives, What the hell is the deal with Bush, he has a new agenda every day.
If the cons buy into this they will start breeding like rabbits, maybe that's what Bush is hoping for, a new breed of con!

What will this country do when we are land locked the way China is, over run with a population that we can't feed? Is that what Bush wants or is it just a new breed of soldiers to send off to be killed after are of age? Either way, he's an idiot, i have never even seen a picture of him in a church, yet he tries to dictate Christian tenets.

It is simple. At that time Jesus comes back and a red calf gets sacrificed, all the Jews convert or die and Happy Armageddon everyone. I don't believe that crap but unfortunately there are a lot of ********* from texas doing things like trying to breed a red calf. And a ******* from texas has the power to make it happen and likes the idea.

How can you attribute anything Bush does to Obama? That's the craziest **** i have ever heard. McCain is the one who will keep this **** going, breeding the new crop of soldiers to send off to kill. Don't let your prejudices get in the way of your common sense, you usually make a lot more sense than you just did in that remark.

I'm not sure I understand your point.
Almost 60% of fertilized eggs never make it to full term, either by failure to implant or though subsequent miscarriage (most at no fault at all by the mother). If a constitutional amendment is made defining personhood at the point of conception, ALL these instances would have to be investigated for MURDER.
We're learning about the potentialities in Colorado right now. A pregnant woman with cancer would have to discontinue any therapy that might harm the zygote. A woman who was unaware of her pregnancy (perhaps through unknown failure of a condom or diaphragm) and miscarried through dietary choices, would be prosecutable for manslaughter. Artificial insemination would be largely outlawed, unless the woman agreed to carry all successful fertilizations to term (we're talking 4 to 10).

Ohhh ok. Instead of you libs killing your babies, all of a sudden you want to send them to live with a bunch of perverts and call that compassion? I call that child abuse.
Reply
Next you will be wanting to dump them off with child molestors. Is that ok too?
Maybe you should just keep your peckers in your pants and your legs closed until you are married and we wouldn't be having this sick conversation.
You all got your rocks off and now the kids have to pay the price?-

automan:
So contraception--by definition, PREVENTING A FETUS FROM BEING CREATED, is now "killing babies"?
You need to get a grip. Unfertilized cells do not constitute sentient lifeand don't need to be protected. If they did, you'd kill millions every time you pulled off a hangnail.

Are these idiots so crazy that they think kids just wont have sex???!!!! If they do not have the right tools to prevent STDs and babies we could end up becoming a 3rd world country!! If you think it can't happen you probably think kids won't have sex too!

Wholly agreed! Countries that have a comprehensive approach to human sexuality, including emotional responsibility as well as rational protections have a far lower instance of unwanted pregnancy and STDs.
On a larger point, adult married couples could not practice safe sex. Condoms and diaphragms fail. Most family planning professionals counsel a combination of protections.

This comes as no surprise at all. When they made the morning after pill unaccessable other than through prescription, it was obvious the direction they were headed in. The religious wrong wants to quite literally RULE this nation as a theocracy, and the GOP is more than happy to give them a hand. In return, the wrong wing delivers votes. People can either wake up, or try to undo even more damage to our country after the fact. It's our choice.

You don't need the day after pill. You can use multiple doses of standard birth control bill, I forget which one (the estrogen or progestin). SO you can just dummy up your own and defeat the republican agenda any time.
The day after pill is just a heavy dosage estrogen or progestin pill. You can make your own using standard BC pills. NEENER NEENER NEENER.

I'm at a loss for words about this decision. It's absurd on so many levels, and facets of life that I can't even decide which one is the most invasive in a country where supposedly you are free to make your own choises, without being influenced by religious nuts.

I've lived, part of my adult life in a country under fascist dictatorship. We are not that far from it here, right now. I have never lived somewhere, where rather than moving a society forward, embracing and adjusting along with the challenges of a dynamic evolving society, some of us are instead focused on slowly but surely return us to the state of mentality equal at best the one in existence during the middle ages. Its all the small things, when put together that is slowly but surely bringing us down a long since discarded path. This last decision is a big one, and not all together that unexpected, but I had hope that reason would prevail. -

This is not an isolated event. The Republicans know that the only way they are going to get McCain elected is to put hot-button "moral" issues on the ballot in every state. This will pull the faithful to the ballot box, which is apparently how Bush got his majority in 2004.
The main focus here are the initiatives defining marriage as between a man and a woman, taking direct aim at the liberalization of marriage around the country.
This is a continuation of the strategy documented in "What's Wrong with Kansas". Hot-button moral issues are put forward in an attempt to blinker people whose proper concern is with the fact that the years since Reagan have seen the largest transfer of wealth to the rich in the history of the nation.
I've met people that believe that "liberals" are ruining our economic system by tying the hands of capital. The problem is that capitalists don't regulate themselves: what were Enron's board members doing? Who was minding the store when Bush wheeled and dealed to finance the new Texas Rangers ballpark with local bond money? Nobody. Until the "upper-crust" realize that they have the responsibility to nip these kinds of abuses of trust in the bud, we're going to have laws that impose consequences on those that perpetrate them.
It's far more important for the moral conservatives to stand up to greed at this time than it is to stand up against abortion and gay marriage. It's greed that's ruining this country, not common people trying to cope with difficult life choices.

i think that people who arent married or dont want to have children shouldnt be having sex. if the people who didnt want children werent having sex then we wouldnt have all the child abuse, neglect, abortions, foster care or group homes. and then we wouldnt be dealing with starvation because the parents would be doing anything and everything to feed their children because they wanted that child. i also believe that same sex couples should be able to adopt. EVERY child deserves love. and furthermore SEX WAS CREATED FOR REPRODUCTIVE PURPOSES, NOT RECREATIONAL! people who dont love eachother shouldnt be having sex. people who arent ready to take care of the consequences SHOULDNT BE HAVING SEX!!!!!!! if you wanna get off then GO DO YOURSELF! i really hope that someday soon people will get their stuff together and be more responsible. hopefully one day there will be no birth control. and if you FEEL THE NEED TO HAVE SEX out of wedlock or with a stranger USE SOME DAMNED SARAN WRAP if ur so desperate

"...SEX WAS CREATED FOR REPRODUCTIVE PURPOSES, NOT RECREATIONAL!"
Not everyone agrees with you. And who ever said non-procreational sex was merely 'recreational'? Sex promotes and reinforces extremely strong emotional bonds between two people. In fact, I'm quite certain when ancient humans were 'doing the horizontal mambo' procreation was the LAST thing on their mind. I'd even hazard that's mostly true today. A good sex life is essential for a committed couple.
Sex is something that needs to be approached with honesty and responsibility.
