"The VA estimates that every year 6,500 veterans take their own lives. The mental health director for the VA, Ira Katz, said in an e-mail last December that of the 18 veterans who commit suicide each day, four to five of them are under VA care, and 12,000 veterans under VA care are attempting suicide each year."

Good story STONERS. This is something all Americans should be aware of.
We come home different than from when we left. Sometimes it is to hard to live with everyday.
The sad thing is most people don't notice until it is to late.
If you see a vet becoming more withdrawn and acting out differently. You might might want to talk to someone and get the signs of what I call "survivors syndrome."Loved ones see the difference most clearly and they can be different in individuals. The thing is most vets don't see it or deal with it until it becomes traumatic to them, then we are not equipped to handle it by ourselves. We turn to all the wrong things which will increase the problems in the long run. We seek to deal with the symptoms instead of addressing the problem.
Address the problem. It is painful, but it is beatable. You are worth living for, your suffering is not in vain. Be there for your fellow vets, just as you were in battle, be there in civilian life. You are still a soldier and needed by your comrades in arms. We need you to help those who will come home later and deal with what we have. Don't let them win!! Beat the bastar*s and live.

When Bush, Cheney, and McSame find out how much this hotline costs, they'll shut it down. Bush and McSenile will veto any legislation that threatens to keep it going.
"President Bush, what do think about the 6,500 vets that take their own lives each year?
"A damn shame, but, it saves the taxpayers money in funding their benefits. Helps to keep my tax cuts permanent."
The conversation is pure speculation. Dumbya and McDrool's opposition to veterans benefits bills is perfectly documented, as are their bullsh!t excuses for their "patriotic" behaviors.
Ah, yes. Bush and McSame. Truly men of sterling character.
