I am only posting this story on my website at the request of other members who contributed to composing this story. I do not enjoy working on this site; it is so isolating and sterile. I feel Propeller and AOL have let this community down to make a few extra bucks.

A man has to do what a man has to do, SC, but you'll be missed here. Of course the way things are heading right now none of us will be here anyway.

Thanks in any case for giving berkeley webspace for this and I know we won't lose touch personally. I'm in the process already of collecting contact e-addresses for those people whom I would not like to lose touch with. When you don't see someone here for a while its impossible to know if they're just sitting it out or have already packed their bags and left. I also haven't noticed any influx of exciting "new" people either.-

Well, I'm not going to beg you not to go Spade. But I will ask you to stay. Propeller needs your assistance, Propeller needs all of our assistance and by "Propeller" I'm not talking about 'Propeller - A Unit Of AOL Inc.', I mean Propeller our community. I'm as upset and frustrated about this as anyone, as you well know, but equally upsetting is the attitude voiced by so many that the whole thing meant so little that they can just leave and never come back.

I guess I can't blame people for splitting, and I don't, but I wish they'd stay.
The site is already WAY better than last week in terms of functionality. A few of the 25 removed functions have been restored and I am actually starting to feel confident that Tom Drapeau and James Marcus are going to make this right. My greatest frustration currently is that I'm not allowed to be more active than I am. But my messages r.e. improvements and restorations of functions are not being met with some SINK-like stonewalling.
I dunno....-

OK, I admit it's better than last week. At least there are fewer links to porn sites.. And most of the time my posts do show up. But it is a far cry from what it used to be. I think they need to reinstate the old propeller or they can kiss this site goodby in 6 months.

Yes, the editing feature was great. They really need to bring the old site back.
PLs get rid of professorpropeller. He's about as relevant as Broadway Joe at the Cinemark movies. Getrid of themiddlecolumn.I really don't care who the top News (nose) picker of the day is. Propeller was not a social site like facebook.I'm not interested in who's on first. I don't see how they can fix this site. It's garbage-y.

IF YOU SEE THIS>>>HELLO!!!!!

If you see this, all that I can equate the new website to is the great anticipation'
of that " Segway".. or is the Titanic more appropriate??
Actually, if this were the Titanic, the passengers would have jumped off ship in warmer water upon first sight!1\
WHAT were these people thinking?? is beer that cheap in England?
They had to be seriously drunk or stoned, or perhaps someone's 11 year old nephew got the contract..
But seriously, this is a HUGE boondoggle and I cannot believe that after building up
a decent sized customer base ANYONE in their right mind would let it all implode.
HELLO!!!!!?????? -

Ok, I agree that I don't like the changes. Plus I still use Netscape 7.2 for my email, Internet, and webpage development. But now my email pops up with a 404 error - page not found - on the startup message window. Grrrr! GIVE ME BACK MY VERSION 1 PROPELLER!!!!!

I am back home folks...good to see you all. I am happy about some of the changes, but disappointed in a lot.
For example, the groups are cool. I like being the owner of a group and having stories submitted to people I know will read them instead of having to message 5 at a time to indicate that I had posted a story. We still have the ability to check recent submissions, which is also cool. However, the general look and navigation of the site is rather clumsy.

You can see by the number of votes cast on your comment that it is true. Some familiar posters do appear to have hit the road and I was nearly one of them last week. I still find this new Propeller utterly frustrating and deficient. It seems we lost far more features than we gained.
Losses:
Editing
Recent Comments (no direction to specific comments)
No pages (so much easier to navigate to comments)
The ability to see who voted for or against a comment
Categories (the whole Group concept seems to limit participation)
Sinks
Gains:
Somehow I now have 937 messages in my box.......
The Cartoon Guy who makes me feel like a 4-year old everytime I log on.
I can't think of any other gains?
And if you are going to leave things the way they are at least make it possible to read Most Recent Comments first. The inability to respond to recent comments because you must hit Next 25 forty times has killed the whole message board concept that was the core of Propeller.
Tired of complaining but I just have to wonder what has been improved? The look of the site? Of course I am nostalgic for the old Propeller but I can deal with the look. But what features have we exactly gained here?
