Some would argue, as I have in the past, that all states should have a hate crime law that protects GLBT victims. However, I cannot fathom how the victim in this case would have been helped with such a law. The murdering duo did not care about the law when they killed their first victim, and Mr. Qualls' death was what put the defendant in prison in the first place. Yes, this may well be a hate crime, but I fail to see how justice could be further served by applying a sentence beyond death. To me, life imprisonment is a far worse fate.

Hate crimes are an excessive overkill. We have laws on the books for murder. The man deserves life imprisonment with hard labor. The fact that the man was gay is a non-issue. He killed a human being, period. He should suffer the consequences.

The death penalty may or may not be sought against Bush for Bush's hate crimes.

George W. Bush is a hate-crime criminal (indicated at http://andrewyu-jenwang.blogspot.com/2008/12/what-... “George W. Bush had better stop committing hate crimes”).
