Fascinating article. Thank you for posting it. I was particularly interested in the divides within the trolling community. Fortuny and weev, for example, are miles apart in their beliefs. I've long felt that people who use the internet need to develop a thick skin, and I find it interesting the Fortuny sees himself as being a public service to that end.

weev and people like him seem to be overlooking two things. Re: his desire to reduce the human population of Earth to two billion. Not possible. If you killed off four billion people you would disrupt economic systems to the point that most of the remaining two billion would die also. The other thing he is overlooking is that someday he will be older and better established. The internet has a long memory.

  hacking a epilepsy website to try to cause seizures is not helping to develop a thick skin, nor is harassing the parents of a kid who committed suicide for 1 1/2 years. That's cruellty
