Media reports say that the majority of his questions are either screened and given to him ahead of time or the questioners are intentional plants to ask primed questions. I guess when you're fighting alzheimers it helps a lot to practice your answers ahead of time and avoid 'surprise' questions from people you don't want to answer to.

Perhaps that's why Obama doesn't want to do 'Town Hall' meetings: McSame will stock them with his supporters. -

its tough in front of those mikes when you don't have a buddy to catch your gaffs... like Liebermann, the Bush kisser, correcting John numerous times on the Sunni versus Shia or which afghan border or Iranian border John should be talking about!

Heck, McBush needs a big scoreboard in front of him all the time too to make sure he knows which of his 70 plus flip flops he flopped to last!

As one of the originators of the title 7, affirmative action effort in this country when others were marching, making speeches, and disturbing the peace, I would like to reiterate that the "Good Ole Boy" network is anti-American, and anti-Peace and Freedom as guaranteed by the constitution. Like the bible, who really reads it and understands it's simple genius?

Again, this is not a racial issue it is an encroachment on the rights of every American. Without the afore mentioned legislation, would anyone really have invited their "Best" minority friends to dinner or provided the opportunities we have for women and the "disenfranchised"? Wow, what a descriptive word. I am Republican, but beyond that, I am part Native but all American. I have experience what God can do with the aid of the "disenfranchised". We still don't appreciate the journey we have made to date. -

P.S.> Pardon my type-Os in my previous, but I also wanted to say KUDOS to all who have very intelligently commented on this issue. Slowly we will transcend our ignorance, narcissism, and pettiness as America becomes a true world leader beyond our growing pains and constant conflict resolution among ourselves. We have some catching up to do with the rest of the established world society. I remember someone saying "Charity begins at home."

After the second reporter was kicked out because he asked why the first was asked to leave, the other reporters should all have left. If they'd done that--and reporters continued to do so at every McCain stop, you can be sure they'd stop hassling the African-American reporters.

Good idea, but the main stream media seems pretty hungry for news and ratings and I don't know how many would risk losing a story and possibly their jobs. My respect goes to the reporter that stood up for Stephens to their own detriment.

The MSM has sadly become a pretty poor source for news lately. I usually browse the Internet and for television news my favorite is Jon Stewart. Pretty sad when you have to go to Comedy Central to get an intelligent take on the news.

I SWEAR AOL is the Fox News of online news sources. I spent a lot of time on those message boards before I found propeller, and they are CHOCK-FULL of crazy racist neocons. AND during a debate, all the "liberal" comments I was leaving all of a sudden were getting "errors" and I was unable to continue posting. Rigged. Completely.

cloud15, I would disagree with you about this being simply "speculation." Stephens was the ONLY Black reporter at this rally. He was the only one who had to show his media credentials to enter the rally and then had to show his credentials a few more times. Then, he gets booted. No other reporter was asked 3 or 4 times to show their media credentials. And when the other reporter went to Stephens' defense, that reporter was removed also. What do you think the other reason might be for the expulsion if it isn't because Stephens is Black?

McCain's racism is not deliberate. He truly meant no harm. His outbursts against blacks are simply a reflex--an angry, involuntary response to dark skin that is typical of many elderly Americans raised in the 1920s and 30s when segregation was the rule. His angry vote against a Martin Luther King holiday falls in the same context. McCain still lives in the bygone era of separate drinking fountains for blacks and whites. McCain does not mean to be a racist--he's just old and set in his 70-something ways.. Please excuse him but don't vote for him. I sure won't be. -signed, CK an embarrassed Republican

I wonder how the racism of the 20s and 30s against blacks compares to the racism that Obama has been marinating for the past 20 years ??? I mean other than the fact that in the 20s and 30s, blacks had low out-of-wedlock birthrates (less than whites, actually) and weren't killing each other off in our inner cities as they are today.

Can any of you offer evidence McCain was aware of this action by security staff? I once strayed into a restricted area onboard the USS Lexington, in Pensacola, where Bob Hope was doing a presentation for the troops. The response by security was blunt, rude, and quite effective. It never occurred to me that their disposition was a direct reflection of Bob Hope.

I don't suppose your remember the media hoopla when the 2 Muslim women were moved out of the photo with Obama? It was played out all over the news for days and, even though it was Obama staffers that moved the women, it reflected poorly on Obama.

Well, sometimes turnabout's a bitch, but McCain will just have to deal with it too. With all of his "experience", I'm sure he'll handle it masterfully. -

Has he called the reporters personally to apologize, as Obama did after two women in traditional dress were removed from in back of his podium at a speech? Will McCain say, out front, that what his security people did was wrong? Obama said his staff were in the wrong -- sent a clear message to them for future events. Lets see McCain show the same amount of class.

Living in Panama City I can tell you I'm not surprised by this. This the most Good ol'boy backwards place on earth. While this was done mostly by the Secret Service , if any element of Bay County Gov't was involved ,I'm sure there was some racism involved as well. What do you expect from a place that produced the Martin Lee Anderson case? Mcain fits right in down here.

dmwhipp --- your name should be dim wit. Obama is the one that is backing down from any additional debates. He is afraid that everyone will start to look past the bs and the media shine and find out that he is not qualified for the job! It would be a disgrace for him and especially his wife to be put in the White House. What a joke this guy really is!!

You'd rather have a man that graduated 894 out 899 from Annapolis, was a member of the Keating 5 Scandal that bilked tens of thousands out of their retirement savings, lost 5 military aircraft and admittedly agrees with Bush most of the time lead our nation? A man who says he'll run a respectful campaign and releases 4 negative ads in a single week? A man who cheated on and left his first wife after she was crippled in a car accident for a millionaire beer heiress almost half his age? And I'm the dimwit?

Unfortunately, yes you are. McCain is and has always been proud of this country. He does not bail on his religon or church as soon as it does not benefit his campaign ( he did attend for all those years before he ran). He is a public kiss up who will do anything to get elected while trying to have no substance in his campaign! McCain may not be the best out there---- but he is light years better than Obama. Time will tell. One way or the other.

Which religion? First he said he was Episcopalian, even filling out forms claiming that as his religion. He attended an Episcopal high school. But when campaignin in Baptist states he claims to be Baptist. Sounds a little like selling out his religion to me...

As for public kiss ups, in the 2000 campaign the same Republicans who said McCain's adopted daughter was his black love child are the one's whose asses McCain is always kissing now. -

The "event' with this reporter may or may have not been any big deal, but you can bet the condo that if the situation was reversed and a white reporter was treated equally by someone in Obama's camp, Alpha Gnosis and her cadre of syncophants would be all over it. For 24 hours we'd have to endure a chorus of self righteous indignation and inane one liners. "Oh. the shame".

Well, the official line is that he was a local reporter who was asked to leave for being in the national reporters' area.
Reply
YET, there were many local reporters in that national reporters area and only the one reporter who was black (and another reporter who protested his removal) was asked to leave.
Since only the black reporter was removed, and none of the white reporters, who were not even chastised, we are led to the conclusion that the black reporter was removed using the convenient excuse that he was in the national reporters' area but in all actuality because of his skin color and thoughts like this one just voiced on this string:
"They should have run over him. We all know the intention was to disrupt his speech."
This kind of conclusion is called a positive corollary. What's your agenda? -

You can obviously draw whatever conclusions you would like from the article, just as everyone else has done. We all read the same thing but may read different things into. The headline was obviously interesting enough to catch your attention.

I wonder who is playing the racist in this campaign. After 235 years of slavery, John "hypocrite" McCain campaign is still at it as a bunch of rednecks. You know what, there are millions of blacks who have registered this time and determined to see to it that McCain and his confederate slavery is defeated flatly in November.

This whole dance were seeing about race right now is quite revealing. First Obama is playing the "Race Card" for his comments about how he looks different from other Presidents and now this.
Reply
I mean why does this have to be about the "Black reporter"? Wouldn't be just as interesting that a reporter was asked to leave regardless of race?
Seriously, the Democrats are being just as ridiculous as the Repubs on this. Tom Daschle was on one of the Sunday morning news shows sounding like a complete idiot insisting Obama's comments had nothing to do with his race!?
Obama is smart for bringing up the fact that the Repubs are probably gonna try and scare people with the fact that he's an untested black man.
Is that playing the Race Card or is that just dealing with REALITY? -

An excellent example of the biggest hate instigators in this country -- the NEWS MEDIA. They keep repeating over and over that the reporter was black, but never mention the race of the other reporter who also was ushered out. You can bet if she was black also, the media would have had a field day with it. Obviously, she was white.
Reply
The media also knows that many simple-minded people will point to this as proof of McCain's racism, never bothering to consider that McCain didn't have the reporter removed -- the U.S. Secret Service did. Why? Who knows? But it clearly didn't have anything to do with race. -

#1 Obama will never make it on a Bill and what about Obamas camp removing 2-3 Muslim women with there head scarves onfrom one of his speeches. From the very begining Obama is trying to make race a issue, like Bill Clinton said that Obama was using the race card with his suggestions about his opponents that they will make fun of his name and oh yeah black to.If McCain is being a Racist its not coming out of his mouth just like the Clintons, its not coming from them personally like everytime Obama speaks without Moveon.org he shows his true form. He is a community activist and thats all he knows how to be.

In reading some of these comments, I remembered why I left AOL's news commentary site. You are almost all extremists of the right and left and demonize both candidates to the detriment of your own positions. Unfortunately you are apparently incapable of simply saying why you like one or the other or what good their proposals will do. The childish name-calling is repugnant,
