They're deleting "reviews" by people who haven't read the book and who are using the review page as a forum to voice their dogmatic approach to "reading" -- read what someone else says about it, despite their lies, and decide without reading it yourself.
Reply
It's common practice on Amazon (and has always been) to delete comments that are abusive, outright attacks based on lies or for reviews given by people that have plainly not read the book.
More fearmongering by the GOP. Based on lies as always.-

Such was my surmise - plenty of one-star reviews left unmolested, including one by a guy who conceded he hadn't read the book.
When I read book reviews, I am interested in a critique of the book and itst content - but I get the picture that the deleted reviews were on the order of "Nancy sux" without any input on the book itself. If such is the case, it points to trolling and abuse of process and such comments SHOULD be deleted.
OTOH, maybe Amazon went to a great deal of trouble to delete some one star reviews, leave others, all for the dubious benefit of raising a rating from one star to two. I doubt it.-

Finally, a functioning synapse! This is like a Rush Limbaugh argument. There is really nothing there but if you artfully spin this nothing you can create the idea of impropriety. Not actual impropriety just the insinuation. That is enough to get FSU Grad or AG stirred up. It's the way they are used to thinking. The hatred rises quickly. May the great FSM forgive them!

How about her book sucks based on actual sales? I think you're missing the big picture....
Have you read it, Dionys?
Probably not...You're still finishing up one of Al Franken's rags.....Like "Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell them..."
Wait....Wasn't that a book about Osama ? Maybe Ted Kennedy ?-

Franken's books are terrible. So are O'Reilly's, Coulter's, and Limbaugh's. You learn nothing from reading such tripe!

And you can be sure the remarks on Pelosi's books violate the Terms of Agreement you sign when you join Amazon. That's why they are being removed.
Have you purchased this one?

Reading comprehension problem again FSU. Dionys never claimed she read the book. She explained the basis Amazon was likely using for deleting unfavorable and possibly favorable comments because it was obvious to the Amazon people that the commentors never read the book.

Frankly, I wish Propeller would delete all the users who clogged up the site all this past year bitching about how horrible a liberal McCain is and who now are clogging it up lying through their teeth (about how he's wonderful and so much better than Obama) as if anyone believes cons have any clue what it means to be truthful or to have integrity. But I guess the site would suddenly lose thousands of hits per day as its membership leveled off because of the exodus of riff raff. Oh well...

I've dragged out countless posts of your con brethren (many of them are posting on this very thread) referring to McCain as the most despicable kind of liberal on the planet and here they are wallowing around as part of the right wing sleaze attack machine. All you can do is bring up the crap that was whipped up by Hannity and Rush in the first place. So I challenge you again. Haul out ALLLL those examples of liberals spewing hatred about Obama then and singing his praises now and I'lll raise you every time. You won't be able to do it. So stop repeating your BS because you're really getting boring. Put up or SHUT UP!

Hum interesting, so I checked.
The notion that “They're deleting "reviews" by people who haven't read the book” doesn’t hold water.
Of the 9 reviews with a 5 star rating I found these gems.
“My first two reviews were removed. What I said was she does not know the price of a gallon of gas (True), can't end the war (True), and Claims she has never had any plastic work done (True). And the trout eyes are only for star navigation (Not True”
Note: Didn’t read the book but his neg reviews were pulled. Wrote same review with 5 stars stays up.
“A Tour De Force! Magnificent! Bravo! Red Meat for the wimpy liberal! I must submit that this "courageous" "wo"man has written the most wonderful, insightful and comedic work since Voltaire's Candide.”
Most likely didn’t read it but it’s a Neg review with a 5 star rating
“Obviously no one who is writing these reviews has read the book. They just don't like Speaker Pelosi's politics. My seventeen year old daughter Vivian admires Nancy Pelosi”
This woman also didn’t read the book but gave it a 5 star rating.
Nancy’s book had
9 reviews that were 5 star
1 review that was 4 star
26 reviews that were 1 star
I looked up Hannity’s book and found 1,672 reviews
471 reviews at 1 star.
If ya read some of them its obvious that a lot of em never read Hannity’s book as well.
“They're deleting "reviews" by people who haven't read the book” just doesn’t fly unless it’s something they are doing just for Nancy’s book.

Well since you mentioned it (if only in jest), IMO, that's fine for words that can *only* be considered profane (the "F" word and the word that is a synonym for excrement, for example) but my main concern is about consistency. Some words that can be used in non profane ways are apparently exempt and others not. The "b" word (aka female dog) is allowed but not the "b" word (aka illegitimate child). I can say Cheney's first name but I can't mention a certain barnyard fowl or describe in detail how a gun is fired. I guess I'm lucky that we've have no shortage of words to describe someone who is easy but being restricted to decribing Katherine Harris as a "trollop" or a "prostitute" or a "tramp" is torture and just a tad Ricardo-esque. And don't get me started on why I can't use clinical terms like cyber___ etc. Oh well...Maybe I should be reading a book or cleaning behind my refrigerator right now anyway. ;-I

I am sure they will tell you the comments were removed for Violation of Terms of Use. Ridiculous that you get your anger built up without asking for a logical explanation first! Lots of repressed anger on the Right. That's what you get when you have to stand behind failed policies. You end up with, "I don't love my own candidate but I sure hate yours", politics.
Reply
But I will give credit where credit is due. The Right is winning the spin war, hands down at this point. Obama has already been denigrated as badly as Kerry, and with the same old mud. And that is all that really matters come Election Day. The perception, not the reality.-

Exactly. All you will get are implied dirty doings or insinuations against Obama with no evidence. But because they come from the GOP or the voice of the GOP, they're somehow seen as proof positive. I imagine if you can get the country embroiled in a ridiculous war based on insuations, lies and falsified data / forged papers, it shouldn't be that hard to get an election turned the way you want.

I often wonder why it is that those on the right here seem so rabidly angry and bitter if Bush and the GOP did such a wonderful job on their behalf over the last 8 years. This is clearly not the behavior of content people and yet they are desperately spinning in hopes that if they elect someone they think is a liberal *he* will somehow do a better job running the country than Bush did. Too funny. ;-(

Funny because I long ago excoriated anyone on either side who attacks anyone (Right or Left) who is ill or recently deceased. It just a bad practice for your karma. I don't know how I am going to handle Cheney pasing? That will be the toughest test of all. I actually felt some sadness during the week Reagan died. All that waxing nostalgic for a man who was so controversial. But will I for Cheney? I will just follow the old axiom..."if you can't say something nice, just say nothing at all".

It's a shame when companies sink to promoting their own politics in this way. They've got the right to do it, but it does undermine the idea of customers helping customers through reviews and product ratings. Then again, the book's still only got a 2 star rating, so I doubt it's going to shoot up the charts anytime soon.
Reply
Also, I hate to not give Amazon the benefit of a doubt. It seems possible to me that Amazon may have had legitimate reasons for deleting the said reviews. For instance, maybe the reviews seemed to be from people who hadn't actually read the book and were just bashing Pelosi/Democrats in general. You never know. There certainly are still plenty of negative reviews to read.-

Speaking as a former Amazon employee, I can tell you that the company has always reserved the right to remove "reviews" that are essentially political rants. This has taken place from the very beginning, and the policy has been applied to both sides of the political aisle. As for "censorship," Amazon isn't a public forum--it's a store.

The “right” is not in question, the selective use of that “right” is.
Take a look at the comments on Hannity, Coulter.
Next question is it possible or probable that this whole issue of reviews being dumped is staged, planned? cause who would have know Nancy Pelosi wrote a book if not for this “story”?
After all Amazon isn't a public forum--it's a store, it job is to sell books.

Ah, hold on a second there. Our energy policy was created in complete secrecy early in this administration. And the very same Dick Cheney that conducted those meetings could care less what you or I think! We are headed toward Big Brother not away from such a society. This isn't just a problem of the Left. To say that is to blind yourself in one eye. It is a political problem. Americans have become so stupid that we willfully gave away our 4th Amendment Rights several years ago. The polls show the public approves of warrantless wiretapping without FISA review. This alone should prove we are a nation of idiots in the majority! These are our Constitutional Rights people! Not something to be tampered with. The additional fact that at least 50%+ of the population believe in ancient fairy tales as the literal truth, only solidifies that conclusion.

If it was “created in complete secrecy” how do you know about it?
Are you often involved in secret meetings?
I was in a secret meeting 4 years ago! do you know what it was about? Nope?
That’s cause it’s a secret!
I think we can safely eliminate that whole “secret” part don’t you?
BTW, the current talking points is that there never has been a Bush energy policy. Which is it no energy policy or there is an energy policy?
“And the very same Dick Cheney that conducted those meetings could care less what you or I think!”
Dick Cheney, ya mean the guy we elected to be the Vice President. Wouldn’t that make him kinda important?
Well he may not care what you think but that’s nothing new is it?
BTW didn’t Waxman have a hissy fit about this and took it to court and lost, BIG TIME.
Seems Congress has a right to go over every word, sentence in the policy (actually that is their job) but they don’t have the right to demand to know how each and every word, sentence in the policy came about.
It’s called separations of power.
It’s in the Constitution.

Amazon knows who bought the book from them and rightfully deletes any reviews from people that never bought their book so the reviews being deleted are from right wing cons that haven't even read the book. ROFLMAO How stupid can cons get?? Evidently no one knows because they have not reached the bottom yet.

I am not 100% sure how Amazon works, because I have never written a review for one of their items, But I have written on other sites and you typically have to log in and are only presented items you have purchased for review. This seem fair. But just deleting reviews because they give the product a bad rating is not only wrong, but misleading, boarding on fraud.

Thats interesting. I believe it was mostly Democrats who proved to be chad-challenged in FL in 2000. Let alone those who displayed ignorance of how to interpret the butterfly ballot...designed by...DEMOCRATS!
Reply
It's Democrats who complain about signs informing voters that Republicans have to stand in line on Tuesday while Democrats get to wait another week to vote when there won't be any lines. (I would add here that it takes all the fun out of a joke when you have to explain it to those at whose expense it was offered.)
There also the perceived disadvantage Democrats believe accompanies voter ID laws. Apparently there are more than a few Democrats who find this concept mystifying, as if they've never been carded for a beer or rented a movie at Blockbuster. -

Amazon has alawys been pretty good about accepting my reviews of the products I bought from them. However, I did (Actually) read Pelosi's book,. Well, as far as I could get, anyway. I started to puke about a third of the way through. My character and bodily system couldn't handle the awful and misleading lies she wrote. Therefore, I did not give Ms. Nancy's book a favorable review on Amazon.com.

We the Sheeple, Georgia! I will guarantee you that you will find Limbaugh's and O'Reilly's, and even Coulters books (which certainly do not belong in a place literature) in my local, very red state, public library. What a judgemental and stereotypical comment you made. You admit that you have closed your mind halfway. That's what your Bible taught you, right! That's what Jesus asked you to do?
Reply
I would ask the same question of you in the opposite regarding authorship. Such a book simply wouldn't get published or sell. Proof of how polarized we have become. All of these authors are about creating a cult of personality not educating anyone. Do really believe someone like Ann Coulter has anything of worth to say? I slogged through a couple of her books (got them at the library, good idea!) and found nothing but hatred disguised as humor. I have said before that Franken is just as bad. Trying to address a wrong with another wrong is just as pathetic.
Read some real history. Read the quotes of our Founding Fathers. Understand how this country was built and how it has evolved. From the actions of both liberals and conservatives. Not only by one side. Certainly Jefferson and Franklin amongst others would be considered liberals today. Both sides should share the credit and the blame. We learn to work as one or we fall together. That is the future we face.-

Quite fair reply. But try to expand your horizons outside of Fox. Check out Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN on Sunday afternoon. Zakaria keeps the conversation intelligent and rarely takes sides. An extremely intelligent individual who can give you a synopsis of nearly any relevant situation going on in the world without bias. And who actually offers potential workable solutions! All to rare in the world of journalism.

Yes and coincidentally over past several days notice that Amazon has suspiciously limited availability of some of Ann Coulter's books. Interestingly, the one focused on treason (the liberals' favorite past-time) is no where to be found! Nonetheless as an escape from the florid nauseating propaganda of the network evening "news" (sic DNC propaganda) was able to order a contrarian book about Senator McCarthy for this inquiring (former liberal) mind.
