NO, we don't wish for them to be hurt, even after all the hurtful things they've done and said. Psssst you that belong to that church, look and learn something that you should have learned while studying the bible.

People like this church is the reasin many hate religion. You people give the good people that search for God around the world in many religions a bad name.

One hate-spewing "church" at least temporarily down; but unfortunately, too many will draw renewed resolve from the event.

The idea is to make the possibility of singling out gays for persecution based on "god's word" a thing of the past.
Everywhere, which means not only in the US. I'm thinking about the current episcopalian "crisis" regarding the admission of self-admitted gay pastors into the flock: another example of institutionalized homophobia.
For one thing.-

These feral hate-breathing losers are one issue. Whether or not Christianity ought to accept homosexuality as a lifestyle that has God's endorsement is quite another.

"The idea" is for mankind to be reconciled to God. There is no other idea.

Those leaders who preach hatred like Hagee are no better than Phelps. Phelps is the culmination of hatred put out there. He is only doing what he was taught by the likes of Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, and Jimmy Swaggert and the like.

It's so hard to know how to feel about this story. On the one hand I am absolutely thrilled. These folks really, really deserve non-corporal bad things happening to them. I get that they want to scream & yell mean things about homosexuals, but to do it at a funeral is reprehensible. The thing is, if it was arson I'll be bummed as that will only invigorate their efforts. But if it was just their own mistake - someone left a cigarette burning - then I'd be okay with that. I am happy that they have some difficulty ahead of them, especially financial, but at the same time I'm a little sick that I'm even a tiny bit happy. I'd hope that somewhere they'd gain some perspective from this event, but also know that, as a gay person, they'd likely shoot me on the spot if they had a weapon available. *shakes head* This is a tough one...

Do not be so conflicted over it my Dear. It's just a building, an unlovely one at that. Everyone will spin this to suit himself, and these folks have plenty of money. God will judge them in His own time as he will all of us, so look to your own soul and do not let fools trouble you.

There's one thing about this story I'm not clear about. What did the neighbor lady mean when she said Phelps wants her land and had tried to buy it from her and suspect the fire was a warning to sell? Was the church on her land? Can anyone elaborate?

If I am not mistaken, the Phelps clan has been hasselling her because she calls police when they break the law and she is basically a thorn in their side. They would like to buy her land so that hey can get rid of her and build a compound.
