Blogger's retaliation for Rush Limbaugh's Operation Chaos »
Posted By Stringcheese 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsIn March, Rush Limbaugh announced "Operation Chaos", asking Republicans to vote for Hillary in the Texas and Ohio primaries to keep the Democrats distracted with their inter-party battle. Now, in retaliation, Huffington Post blogger Ron Mwangaguhunga calls on Democrats to help take votes away from McCain by supporting Bob Barr.

Don't forget Ron Paul is pulling a lot of the elderly vote from McCain too. I sent him some campaign money so I guess I should spread it around to Barr as well.

Anything to prevent another 4 years of this.
Although I have voted for a third party candidate since I started voting. They never win, but one day someone will listen. -

Until the election, turn of TV and radio; especially do not listen to Repub commentators or Dem commentators. Do not read newspaper accounts of speeches or columnist interpretations thereof. Read only text publications. Read them well and think about them; without the applause track interrupting you. The ultimate goal of both major political parties, and probably any, is to get you to cast your vote reflexively and without thinking. Hence the importance of eye-and ear-catching slogans and emotional appeals.
You may have effectively made up your mind already. Sometimes it's hard to avoid, because each of us have personal inclinations based at least partly on our view of human nature. But if you can, give the above procedure a try.
IMHO, since this is a political campaign, from both camps you can expect about 20% outright lies; 75% falsehoods; and maybe 5% of real feeling. The more you can isolate yourself from extraneous junk, the better off you are.

This seems not to be much of a retaliation for Operation Chaos. However Barr would be my choice by miles over Obama and McCain. Since he doesn't have a chance I will opt for the lesser of 2 evils. I won't say who, but my hint is that he is pro-drilling.

In the primary I voted for Duncan Hunter. It seems my favorites aren't the average American's. I better re-educate myself about who's good and who isn't.-

Yeah, I voted for Ron Paul in the primary. I live in a heavy Obama area, so it didn't much matter, and at least I was able to make a statement. If one of the big 2 gives me a veep that makes it worthwhile, I've vote for one of them, but otherwise, I'll vote based on the issues, even if it allows one of the big 2 to win.

But then you are still voting for evil.
Reply
If Barr is your choice by miles, why not go for him. Even if he doesn't win, just showing the next congress and president and the nation that there is a large voting block who actually cares about these issues will bring about real change as Perot did in his runs.
Lets get him in the debates first, then determine if he can or can't win. -

Hey, if you're not really trying to get elected you can speak bluntly. It's when you have to appeal to the masses that you must "tune" your message. That's why elections come so close to 50/50 these days. You're voting for apples or apples. Nader and Barr and Paul can do a service by speaking bluntly about the two major parties.

I'm going to be interested in what Limpballs will have to say about this. Will he keep quiet? Don't think he can, so I think we may see a protest by Rash Limpballs about subverting the electorial process or some other arguement while trying to defend his complicity in subverting the electorial process. lol

Rush has been a full-time campaigner for the RNC since 1988. The main point of "Operation Chaos" was not so much to prolong the primary as it was to simply help Hillary get the nomination because the Republicans had a warehouse of ammo (e.g. lies, smears, exaggerations, even a few facts) to use against her, and they didn't want it to go to waste. (But, hey, there's always 2012). They have very little on Obama, which is why Rush spent half his show the other day arguing that properly inflated tires will not save fuel.

The really bothersome thing about "operation chaos" is that it encouraged Americans to vote dishonestly and in bad faith -- something the Founding fathers would have never dreamed of. If I support Barr, it will be because I really believe he is the best candidate.-

Joe, Last December, Rove came right out and said the repubs should help Obama win because the repubs would have a better chance against him in the general election. I don't think Rush was trying to help Clinton win at all. I think he's too smart for that. Women outnumber men, and he and others were afraid women might vote for her just to make a statement. And the founders never thought ordinary men, former slaves, or women would be voting at all!

Rush encouraged voters to be dishonest.

The amazing thing about the few conservatives loyal to Bush and McCain is that they actually are proud of "dishonesty" and "ignorance."
Rush has cemented his career as a "dishonest" and "intolerant drug addict and hate monger."-

Rush is an attention-grabbing performer who knows his audience. He always laughs as he navigates to his online bank through his web browser. Just like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have their loyal followers, so do Rush and Ann Coulter.

Bob Barr? I'm a life long member of the GOP. I had to look this goof up. After reading about him, I did remember his supporting the impeachment of Clinton and Marriage defense act. He has no chance in this election and most conservatives wouldn't waste a vote making a statement to the party by voting for him. The main reason? Congress and the Senate are in the hands of the DNC. They won't take a chance on giving up everything.

He is a former Republican U.S. Congressman from Georgia and served as U.S. attorney here under the Reagan and HW Bush administrations. He made headlines back in the 90's because of his aggressive stand against Bill Clinton and impeachment. He has since became a libertarian. Democratic Georgian's like myself is hoping that Barr can suck enough votes away from McCain here in this state to allow for a possible Obama victory. A couple of Georgia polls show the contest very close when you factor in Barr.

He's a Republican who managed to head the Libertarian ticket rather than a civil libertarian. He's a right-wing freak on social conservative issues, but some of his other views actually make sense compared to the big 2. Voting for him would help Obama, but depending on who McCain picks for a running mate (Huckabee?!) that could be a good thing.

Rush is a comedian, and entertainer. Very well paid and sucessfull at that. His listeners are the dolts who think he is something other than a comedian. His political diatribes are nothing but angry partisan comedic hearsay that do not hold up in the light of truth. He is not so much a disgrace to this country as are those who beleive his partisan tripe.

The new Libertarian champion, Bob Barr, a former four-term Georgia congressman, is most famous for his poor judgment and sour temper.
He led the fight to defang anti-terrorism legislation after the Oklahoma City bombing (among his achievements: preventing the government from designating foreign groups as terrorists and denying their members visas to enter the country).
He championed social-conservative causes such as the Defence of Marriage Act, which he drafted, and the impeachment of Bill Clinton.
His moralistic fervour faltered only when it came to his own conduct: twice divorced, he was once photographed licking whipped cream off the breasts of a particularly buxom woman. He says he was raising money for leukaemia research. (Well, he would, wouldn't he?)-

Since Klarissa presents an overwhelming amount of mis information and I have a finite amount time - I will first address the Defense of Marriage Act.
Reply
He authored the Defense of Marriage Act to ensure no states were forced to accept other state's decisions to allow gay marriage and to limit the governments' involvement in marriage all-together.
You may (or may not) remember the Full faith and Credit clause in the constitution which, if Massachusetts allowed gay marriage, would then require all states to as well. (for your convenience: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_Faith_and_Credit_Cl...
Ron Paul says it best:
"If I were in Congress in 1996, I would have voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, which used Congress's constitutional authority to define what official state documents other states have to recognize under the Full Faith and Credit Clause, to ensure that no state would be forced to recognize a "same sex" marriage license issued in another state. This Congress, I was an original cosponsor of the Marriage Protection Act, HR 3313, that removes challenges to the Defense of Marriage Act from federal courts' jurisdiction."
Additionally he points out:
"government did not create the institution of marriage.... Government regulation of marriage is based on state recognition of the practices and customs formulated by private individuals interacting in civil society."
To see the why the rest of Klarissa's "well informed" accusations are incorrect, see: http://www.nolanchart.com/article3852.html -

Second. Oooo. The evil dems are going to screw around with the GOP. Would that be like Congresswoman Gwen Moore's son slashing several GOP vehicles that were to be used for driving people to voting stations? How about the GOP head quarters attacked in West Allis. This is where senior citizen staffers were attacked by young operatives of the DNC. We have the Alzheimer's Bingo. Pretending to play games with seniors and getting them to sign the absentee ballots operatives already filled out. Sign and you get a piece of candy. If that sounds bad, how about the anti-smoking dems buying the votes of the homeless with packs of cigs. Had it on tape and the DA, who was the chair for Milwaukee's DNC couldn't find anything to charge them with. My dad, dead since 1986 started to vote again and even changed parties. Amazing. And this is in little Milwaukee, can you imagine the honesty in cities like Chicago, San Fransisco or New York? -
