"It is not in the interest of the United States to protect the rights of a self-confessed criminal that is part of a group that attacks us."

It is in the interest of democracy to protect the rights of EVERYONE!
Furthermore, he confessed to helping his brother get a passport (who may have been part of a group -- the article wasn't clear -- which did NOT attack us, but was declared a terrorist organization by a somewhat biased government).-

Where did you get that quote? Not from me.
"Furthermore, he confessed to helping his brother get a passport (who may have been part of a group..."
Yeah, that's a violation of federal law. It doesn't matter if he was affiliated with a terrorist group or not.
"The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine... Harakat al-Jih?d al-Isl?mi fi Filast?n) is a Palestinian militant group designated terrorist by the United States, the European Union , the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia and Israel. Their goal is the destruction of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian Islamic state."

Hey, I'm not denying that it wasn't an accurate declaration. I'm just saying that bias does exist with who the US designates terrorists and who they don't. For instance, they tend to overlook a lot of their own questionable actions when decrying human rights violations...-

First, one does not have to attack Americans on American soil ONLY to be a terrorist.

Second, "human rights violations" is a pretty flexible term. For example, some posters here complain about the "violations of rights" of a mass murderer and his supporters DURING A WAR but are quiet about the violations of rights of those innocent men, women and children in Israel who were murdered by them. In addition, they're VERY quiet about the alternative ways (alternative to using force) to convert these mass murderers into peaceful civilians.
