Posted By Neophile 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsMissouri state Rep. Scott Muschany, R-Frontenac, was indicted today in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended. Harris, a values voter who has proven once again to have no values... or a conscience either!

And CBS Evening News today talked about the Dem Mayor being jailed... and no mention of this fine upstanding Repug!
Hastert didn't bother to do anything to House ethics after either the Foley (pedophile) or Abramoff scandals... and Craig is still there in Congress too!
Let's see if O'Reilly mentions anything as the last time he mentioned a pedophile case he said the kid was better off with the Pedophile than the kid's own family!
No wonder 18 of the 22 Most Corrupt Congressmen are repugs (google the CREW list) - actually under investigation in spite of Dumya guidance to go after only dems! -

Right. And if he's convicted then he faces up to 7 years in jail and a $5,000 fine. Wonder if the poor girl will have recovered by then.

Meanwhile, if you download a movie (copyright infringement), you could go to jail for up to 10 years and be fined $250,000.-

According to the article:
Reply
"The owner and founder of engineering firm Trileaf Corporation, Muschany and his wife were licensed as foster parents with the Division of Family Services, according to his legislative biography."
Conservatives would let this man who allegedly raped a 14 year old girl be a foster parent, but will not allow gays and lesbians to adopt? I think I understand why now! They want to have the children for themselves. This guy should be put on the Steve Wilcos show, then in jail. -

The girl’s father told the Post-Dispatch that his daughter told a sibling about the alleged assault a few days after it happened, and the sibling told the father on May 26, the father said. He called the child abuse hotline the next day.
"I believe what my daughter told me," the father said.-

Yeah, but it turned out OJ was, in fact, guilty. Remember, he lost the civil suit.

I'd say the Duke lacrosse team is a more appropriate example of trial by the public.
As I recall, the same thing is happening with the National Enquirer story about Edward's affair.
Anyhoo, it's news and you can't expect people not to talk about it.-

What happened to the rights of citizens? Do you put them aside based on a preliminary newspaper article.

What we say on this post does not matter in a court of law, and it's only public opinion. This is not a real trial, only the emotions running rampant. So, get a grip Klarissa, the constitution entitles us free speech and if some think he's guilty, so what?

The Abu Ghraib soldiers were not given the option to prove their innocence - the judge at Fort Hood told them just as their trials started that their chain of command would not be available to testify... so no links up the chain to Rummy, Cheney and Dumya, in spite of their torture memos! -

OJ Simpson could be guilty as sin; or not, but the fact is, he was tried and convicted in the press long before his trial was completed. And there is STILL all kinds of outrage over the fact that he was found not guilty of the two yet to be solved murders of his wife, Nicole and Ron Goldman.
Reply
If I were a betting person, I'd bet you had absolutely NO problem with the rush to judgment in that case!
Vengeful and prejudiced people are convinced of his guilt despite the known corruption and penchant of the LAPD for planting evidence, and in large part, based on the out and out lies under oath of the great perjurer turned celebrity law enforcement expert, Mark" the Vermin" Furman! Low and behold, Instead of his arse sitting in a jail cell for perjury, he's been rewarded with a high paying job, making mad money and being treated like a respectable, upstanding citizen! What a joke!!-

but please, let's not rehash OJ, who really shoulda been Juiced years ago
Karma and his own twisted mind are doing what the criminal court failed to
the case of the hotel breaking and entering and kidnapping, and robbery of his memorabilia taken thru the civil case and all that stuff [...video taping and recording yourself in a criminal act? WTH?]
it's kind of interesting to watch and ponder if it's psychosis or a bad conscience that keeps OJ from just laying low and being thankful for beating the rap, like a 'normal' person would
it's also interesting to see that he was still getting women
very, very brave women-

Well, Tanget O.J. does need the cash. If Goldman's father cared one tenth for his son as he cares about collecting blood money out of O.J. then maybe, just maybe his kid would still be around living off of older women and playing. I will not get into the family who lived off of O.J.'s fame and pimped their high school daughter to O.J. then a married man. As for the book....who carries more blame? O.J. for writing such a distasteful tome or the publisher who begged him to write it for the money it would make? Or those who would buy the book?
I am not an O.J. apologist, yet there is plenty of blame/shame to spread around...don't you think?

That a grand jury found sufficient evidence in such a case and where lots of repug money couldn't bribe this guy off the hook - he's most likely guilty! Look at all the donations Scotter got in the Plamegate case - he doesn't have to work the rest of his life!
Reply
OJ knows he was guilty too, as did his lawyers (a california aberration)... look how Dumya will get away with over a million people dying for his greedy lies! You repugs have done a pretty good job of subverting the rule of law in this country! Even the Military Uniform Code Of Justice is a repug created document to allow the same chain of command of the offender to always protect the evils of that Chain of command!-

The apparent actions of a State Representative seems to fuel discussions about the sexual conduct of our national leaders. Neither party has anything to brag about. In one instance, we are told that we should live by a high moral code, one not followed by the preachers. In the other instance there is no moral code except do what you want and if caught, lie about it. Other than the hypocrisy what is the difference? Reprobates all! But to be fair, lets let this play out through the courts.

Funny when the latest Republican scandal breaks its seems to always need to go thr the courts and of course he was set up by a bunch of teen groupies. But lets make sure we all know that Obama shared the same crib as a serial killer and somehow THAT makes a difference,

In the meantime, let's have a little restraint on our emotions and let the law take care of this. The statistics suggest that there are as many false rape reports as legitimate rape reports.
And let's also not be so naive as to assume that this is related to one party vs another.-

That's flat wrong! Rape and sexual abuse are among the most UNDER-reported crimes. 1 in 5 women will experience some form of serious sexual abuse in her lifetime (and that's a conservative estimate). In the military, it's 1 in 3 (1 in 10 for men). I'm not talking a butt-pat or sexual innuendo.
The Duke lacrosse team case was the extreme exception.-

Here are some REAL statistics.
# 1 in 4 girls is sexually abused before the age of 18.
# 1 in 6 boys is sexually abused before the age of 18.
Fabricated sexual abuse reports constitute only 1% to 4% of all reported cases. Of these reports, 75% are falsely reported by adults and 25% are reported by children. Children only fabricate ½% of the time.
That bears repeating:
Children only fabricate ½% of the time. -

Tang, for a change I'm suggesting restraint in this case. I'm confused by the actual charges. Child molestation in the second degree, 1) A person is guilty of child molestation in the second degree when the person has, or knowingly causes another person under the age of eighteen to have, sexual contact with another who is at least twelve years old but less than fourteen years old and not married to the perpetrator and the perpetrator is at least thirty-six months older than the victim.
Reply
(2) Child molestation in the second degree is a class B felony.
I'm not sure if this was a plea agreement, if it was then lock the S-O-B up. But if it goes to trial, there's a good chance he could walk. Lets see what happens.-

My bad. I pulled Washington State's definition. Missouri's is as follows:
Reply
Child molestation, second degree, penalties.
566.068. 1. A person commits the crime of child molestation in the second degree if he or she subjects another person who is less than seventeen years of age to sexual contact.
2. Child molestation in the second degree is a class A misdemeanor unless the actor has previously been convicted of an offense under this chapter or in the course thereof the actor inflicts serious physical injury on any person, displays a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument in a threatening manner, or the offense is committed as part of a ritual or ceremony, in which case the crime is a class D felony.
(L. 1994 S.B. 693, A.L. 2000 S.B. 757 & 602)
In this case, if he is convicted, he was the actual perpetrator. If guilty, lock him up.

This is an opinion forum, not a trial...just talk. So give this "innocent until found guilty" crap a rest. When a democrat screws up, there is a rush to judgement in their case also. So what? We are only commenting on what we know now and expressing our opinions. I'm always interested on how opinions change when more facts and information comes out - who can acually change their opinions and who cannot.

What a massve moronic cluster f**#. They guy is guilty simply because he's a Repub ? A great example of liberal mentality. If the shoe was on the other foot, y'all would be screaming the roof down. The kid's mother was his mistress. If he DID in fact rape the kid, WTF was the mother doing allowing the kid around him to begin with ? She's just as much at fault as Muschany so should be brought up on charges as well, right ? Child endangerment at the least. And what about the kid's father ? Did he know his wife was a politician's *****, why was he still with her & why did he allow the kids to be around her so that they would be exposed to Muschany ? If he did it, he should fry and I'd be the first in line to pull the switch, but he needs to be proved to be guilty first.

Typical Republican thinking. Let's blame the victims why don't you. Everytime someone points out some trifling behavior or policy from conservatives they try to blame it on someone else. For chissakes, he's a government representative. Do we have to take out time to teach Republican officials what's right from wrong. Maybe they need a rulebook that includes such things as:
Reply
Rule#1 Don't molest or engage in lewd acts with children
Rule#2 Don't for for legislation that waters down the constitution.
Rule#3 Don't take oil money (or any other money)and vote against the American people
Blah, blah, blah.. It seems that the preponderance of these scandals against underage children are perpetrated by conservatives. -

Google: Neil Goldschmidt
I'll start you out. . . this from a 2007 posting by the man who outed Goldschmidt and the mainstream press and Oregon politicians who protected him
"In a lather of righteous indignation, a recent Oregonian newspaper editorial demanded that "anyone in Congress who protected Foley should be given the boot, period. And that includes (House Speaker Dennis) Hastert himself," because sheltering a pedophile is "a truly odious act."
The Oregonian neglected to remind its readers that such acts aren't confined to Capitol Hill or to Republicans: In 2004 it reluctantly reported that Governor Ted Kulongoski and others in Portland's political and business circles were accused of knowing former governor Neil Goldschmidt had repeatedly raped his children's 14-year-old babysitter while mayor of Portland in the 1970's."
