Condi Rice would never have been considered for the job if she were not a convenient token black. Her training as a Russian specialist meant that she had little or zero knowledge or experience relative to current foreign affairs issues facing America. Her slowness in coming to grips with the rest of the world cost us dearly.

Now this article takes a 35 minute interviewand distills it into 1 sentence. Now who is missing the larger picture? I'm sure Iran is going to be settled before Obama trounces McLame just like we were only going to be in Iraq for months, but certainly not years.

It's not just the man but the belief systems that he and his party cling to. All the major Democratic candidates want some sort of socialized medicine. The more Socialism the better. Neither party is willing to cut off all services and employment to illegals. This is to me the true loyalty test. Obama did say the pledge of allegiance last week, so I don't know where you're coming from, suggesting he's less than a patriot. I believe on some issues he's misguided and places party loyalty above national loyalty. As for McCain, ditto. After any election I just choke when I hear the typical victory speech, "I will be a (blank) to all the people, not just..." Oh, sure, but that never happens, they remain representatives of the party activists and lobbyists and to the heII with the average guy.

Agreed, except for those who are the most dangerous, those who can't or won't discriminate between the two. Unfortunately, that includes an awful lot of poor, angry, desperate people willing to do anything to stop us. Instead of trying to wipe these misguided ones off the face of the earth, thereby creating more and more of them, we should be doing all we can to eradicate the causes of their anger and desperation. There isn't a country in the world that doesn't have a list of its citizens that have applied for VISAs to move and live in the US. I, along with my entire family, came to this country that you trash. I spent 21 years in the US military for the country you trash. My wife and her entire family emigrated to the US because they hated (Not the US) the former USSR and the miserable life they had there.
I work with a former Albanian that is proud to be in the country you trash.
In my 21 years in the military, I had ample opportunity to travel abroad. I've spent time in Germany, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and I can tell you, they do not trash the country YOU trash.
As a matter of fact, I remember meeting two Kuwaiti business men in Bahrain, and they explained how every Kuwaiti has a picture of the first Pres. Bush hanging proudly in their home.
Seems to me that you can show a bit more respect to the country you live in and which provides you every opportunity in life. In my view, you cannot get any better than the US. Even if we do not have everything figured out, we have the means to make our future anything we choose it to be.

As far as him being unqualified. No-one except past presidents has experience being the President. Senate experience does not qualify one to be President, neither does POW time in Vietnam. The best position I can think of that would provide relevant experience would be State Governor, as the same sort of decision-making for the best of the people could be required.

IMHO:
A President should be able to inspire, and a President should be able to listen to a wide variety of opinions before making a decision. And though the President is Commander in Chief of the armed forces, he should really not think that that makes him in charge of the army. It is extremely unlikely that he has more experience and knows more about how to wage war than his top generals, though ultimately deciding where he wants to send those generals is his responsibility in the position.
IMHO, Obama meets those qualifications as well as anyone that was running for the office. I really think he meets those qualifications BETTER than McCain, largely because of his ability to inspire, but also because of a demonstrated ability to see the nuances of a situation. I have yet to see a policy or statement by McCain that goes beyond the surface of an issue. And I've also seen some things completely unbefitting a presidential candidate. "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" is definitely not going to ease international tension.-

All the talk about experience and qualifications got me to thinking. As I recall, a man by the name of Bill Gates started a business in his garage with no real business background but a good knowledge of computers. As he prospered he brought good business people to his company. Together they built Microsoft. So I'm not sure how much experience and "qualifications" matter if you have intelligence and seek the counsel of others that can compliment your strengths.

I think she understands, how little power the president really has. This is by design of our forefathers. Keep in mind all the president can do is approve or not approve a law, if the law is not written he cannot sign it. Consider: No Child Left Behind Act - this was not written by GB, but by Ted Kennedy, however everyone thinks it is Bush's law. The Iraq war was not started by GB, but by congress. Did Bush lie to get this past congress? Some say he did, but all had the same information that Bush had at the time. The fact is Sadam violated the UN peace agreement that ended the gulf war in 1990 and that and that alone is the reason we attacked. But for some reason we have a mind set that the President is King. He is not. So would we be safe if BO was president, yes, would we be safe if JM was president , I would have to again say yes. Now come the question who do I prefer? Who is more like me.

Please cite the UN resolution that authorized the us of force to remove Saddam Hussein from office for violation of the UN cease fire agreement, or cite the reference in the UN CeaseFire Agreement (687) to automatically restarting hostilities if terms of the cease fire are breached. You can't, neither one exists and the war was not started because of any breach of the cease fire by Saddam.
Congress abdicated it's consitutional responsibility by giving the President the power to go to war if he decided that Iraq was grave threat or was behind the 9-11 attacks. For that all Congressmen who voted for the act should resign because they are a disgrace to the Consitution they swore to protect and uphold.
It has been shown that the President did not share all the evidence with Congress, especially the evidence that showed the claims about Iraq and the threat he poised, the WMD progams, were not true.-

It was bad, kids were pulled right out of school handed a gun and sent to fight. I am not saying the the Vietnam war was a complete loss, because I believe it was a major reason the USSR went bankrupt, but the warriors were not all volunteers as it is today. So can it get worse, you bet it can.

I am not saying the the Vietnam war was a complete loss, because I believe it was a major reason the USSR went bankrupt, but the warriors were not all volunteers as it is today. So can it get worse, you bet it can.

PROTO - You cant explain that to these folks. They are all about negative and without it, they have nothing to say. Simply a reflection of their lives. They're not happy and thus, wish unhappiness on others. It doesnt matter who gets into office, they;re lives will stay the same. Maybe another dollar or two here and there through programs designed to support those that refuse to work or those that blame their bad luck on others and the govt. There are NO mirrors in these homes. But yet, you'd think by their comments they are all Harvard Grads !! Two choices - Either run your self for office or move. If you dont like the way you percieve the gift God has given you and theopportunities and freedoms you have here in the US, then move. Stop bitc**&^ and contribute. Stop pounding your President and Pound your Senators and Congressmen ! IF you even know who they are today. Thats YOUR link to govt, NOT the President -

MMRHE - I want you to look at the link here. Obama voted Party Lines 97% of the time. He MISSED 46% of the Votes this years on bills. There are very ffew - Under 10 - other Senators that had a HIGHER avg on Party Votes and one was Hilery. Now, you say he reaches out to solve issues? How do you come to that cnclusion ? The facts/numbers say exactly the opposite. YOu have to look at the facts, NOT hearsay and TV. Very easy to do. NONE PARTISAN GOVT websites with REAL, Factual information. LOOK IT UP FOLKS.

Your point is well taken but as I noted in my post, just by indicating he would consider offshore drilling is in and of itself an example of his willingness to work with those of the Republican persuasion.
Or how about his vote against the Iraq Adventure? It's not always the numbers but the importance of the issues that matter is it not?

The highest number of voting party percentage for the Republicnas is 92%.. there are 32 DEMOCRATS AHEAD OF HIM AND 1 INDEPENDENT ! THERE IS ONLY 100 SENATORS ! Look at the math, look at the issues and look at what a Majority of Americans want. Common Sense. If your voting in a 4,5,6,7 term Senator or Congressman - YOUR PART OF THE PROBLEM FOLKS. And you want CHANGE ? DUH ! Change comes from the House and The Senate NOT the White House.
