"By substantial margins, voters believe that McCain’s top priority is finding new sources of energy while Obama is more focused on reducing the amount of energy we consume.
Data released yesterday shows that voters overwhelmingly believe it is more important to find new sources of energy. "

"Surveys also show strong public support for offshore oil drilling, a position advocated by McCain and resisted by Obama. " Didn't Obama just flip flop on this? I thought I read somewhere that he supports offshore drilling now.

McCain was part Bush & Republican Administration for 8 years, What was he doing about energy and oil?

          They gave us:
          . $trillions in deficits
          . $4 a gallon gas
          . bank failures
          . foreclosures
          . unemployment

So, what these morons back for more?

Energy is replacing Iraq/Afghanistan as the lead issue in the election, and the Republican position is more closely related to the citizens' sense of things. Obama and McCain's positions became a lot more closer over the last two weeks, but McCain can legitimately claim to have been closer all along.

I think that the candidates go back closer to their originals positions after winning, so a legitimate thinking process is to judge them by what they say earlier rather than later.
