There's something you have all overlooked: maybe McCain wrote that Wikipedia article in the first place. Maybe he wrote the whole of Wikipedia. He's surely clever enough.* Maybe he wrote the complete works of Shakespeare too. He's surely old enough.

      That's actually a possibility. However, if the quotes are direct then that shows both Wikipedia and McCain are guilty of plagiarism.
