John McCain was raised in a military family and spent his early adult years in the military. This tends to give one the mindset that the military answer is always the best answer. We're the biggest and the baddest and we'll just go kick their butts if they don't agree with us.
A very dangerous mindset in today's world.

  Bullies are more apt to start fights when they have others to do their fighting for them. McCain might have once been a warrior, but he is not anymore - just a pathetic old man who likes playing follow the leader, and now wants to be at the head of the line.

      If McLame can't stand the heat, then he can get out of the kitchen.
      
      He might have fought in the military, but that does not excuse his inept policy ideas.

      Your history glosses over a few facts.
      He graduated from Annapolis third from the bottom of his class. A mental giant he was not.
      Many soldiers almost lost their lives in Vietnam also, doesn't make them heros, either, just soldiers doing their jobs.
      He lost five jets, not through enemy fire but bad flying.
      And it's still not clear how much of a hero he was as a POW. Many of his follow POWs swear he was a collaborator and given special treatment. Of course we'll never know since those records are sealed.
      So I'll with hold my respect until I hear the WHOLE history of John McCain, the war hero.

      A few more things you forgot cape.
      
      McCain's military record is filled with racial incidents.
      
      McCain never held a real command post and his "national security credentials" are in fact about zero.

        Why do you people like to lie?
        McCain was the squadron leader of the largest Air Force squadron. It was doing poorly and when he left it was one of the top rated squadrons.

        How could he have been the leader of the "largest Air Force squadron" when he was in the Navy?
        And there are still many questions about the Forrestal incident. Although a naval investigation absolved him of any blame many of those involved still believe he caused the incident as a missile accidentally discharged from a plane he was in control of.
