Hmmm... nearly 500 reads in an hour, no comments and 2 props (mine being one... just because I like the title)... this sounds real likely...

Yes, if Pat Buchanan is concerned, then there is something seriously wrong. It has been quite clear to me for some time that John McCain can hardly wait to start another glorious war. What I can't understand is why so many Americans can't see it. Perhaps because nobody currently living has ever experienced war on their own soil, and so they don't care. If they had, they would know what kind of hell it is.

Well, as far as not seeing it goes, remember, Bush got re-elected. Not the brightest bunch sometimes.

Spade, 7+ years ago a friend of mine said "Do you GWB will be a good president" and I said "he's and idiot and he will cause all sorts of problems you just wait and see." Needless to say, I also said " the only one I think who would be worse would be John McCain, " He said "really?" That man scares me, he's dangerous, short fused and ill tempered, and you cant trust him. He doesn't even know when he's lying, he's brain dead, worse than GWB." AND THAT WAS IN 2000! And this A$$hole has also said he would seek advice from **** Cheney if he becomes President. WHOA!

Let President John McCain fling the remnants of an exhausted and overstretched military into a new war, and you'll see one of the greatest military disasters in U.S. history. They're ready to crump now, their equipment is wearing out, and soldiers are killing themselves in record numbers to get the hell out of their third or fourth "stop loss" deployment.

Personally, I think a draft would be a good thing -- with no exemptions -- deferments would be possible for college, but then you would have to serve when you got out. Male, female-- everyone. A person could do military service or social or civic service -- bring back VISTA or Habitat for Humanity, provide day care to the working poor -- there is so much that could be done.
Reply
One could choose to serve for a year or two directly after high school or two to three years after college. Perhaps service could help pay down some student loans.
Perhaps if we required some service of each and every citizen, we might get over ourselves a bit and start working together instead of tearing ourselves apart.-

I like it. Perhaps for those who volunteer extra time, the government can help out with college and things along those lines.

I don't know what it would cost but I'm willing to bet that if we had the draft our government wouldn't be so willing to send troops into ginned up bs wars for no good reason.

LMAO Why wait for them to get out of college? It would be a waste of the parents hard earned money to pay for a child's college education just to have him killed in combat.-

I agree with that, why waste a college education on war, we all ready did that in Vietnam......got them straight out of High School

amazed, do you really want your daughter in the armed forces, knowing the odds she'll be raped? People don't have to join the military to help homeless and poor and people shouldn't be forced to either.

Keep listening to McCain.... as the wealthy slowly drop the gas prices (hmmm... didn't know they could do that) and the administration starts talking about withdrawl the following will occur.

Like woodchucks the conservative loyalists will look about and see some false hope. They will gladly vote for the Big Lie (McCain) thinking they will be protected from Al-Qaeda (cia), but it's just an election time ploy brought to you by Corporate Run government. This is what has been in the works for a long time. It would've happened with Nixon, but they didn't have that much power back then and we had a free press. We had an Attorney General office that would prosecute as well.-

Yeah. Two years ago they were kept unbelievably low in spite of the rising oil price. Anyone could see that they were kept low to try to make the party in office look good.
