This was simply amazing to watch. What heart and determination looks like. WOW. Incredible! One of the greatest moments in Olympic history. The Americans as the underdog showed true American Grit!

I did not get to see the race, or even any highlights, but to beat the French guy that was talking smack earlier, gotta love it!

I never expected Lezak to win when the Frenchman was so far ahead
        Jason Lezak is absolutely amazing
He has no coach and trains alone
If he needs someone to time him, his wife does it
        What a remarkable feat!

I watched it live, OMG what a race! I thought we were done going into the final lap, and then Lezak kept gaining and still I thought he was too far back...and incredibly, unbelievably, we won!!! Literally, by a fingertip!
          Best race, ever!

The race was one for the ages. It was breathtaking, awe inspiring, spirit renewing and FUN all rolled into a win by the tip of Lezak's finger. Phelps' pure joy after they showed the winner made you think that his sacrifice over all of these years was a small price to pay for getting to experience this moment.

A super race. Relays seem to bring out the best in everyone. Think that the only one I remember that would compare was in (maybe) 1976 when the US anchor in the 4 x 200 free relay swam a super leg to be a heavily favored West German team.
