Obama without his script »
Posted By bigurn 1 year, 4 months ago in NewsNow fate has given Obama a chance to be presidential rather than pretend. Taking advantage of the Olympic distraction in Beijing, the Russians invaded South Ossetia, a territory on the north side of Georgia, a democratic U.S. ally. Out of the blocks, the Russians bombed civilians, rolled tanks across an internationally recognized border and threatened to launch an all-out, destabilizing war. Now it looks as if their army has cut Georgia in two.

Are you serious? Ever time McCain gives a speech he constantly reads it from the teleprompter. It is so noticable that he might as well have it typewritten on paper and read it to us. Don't believe me, watch him sometime.
Reply
They all use teleprompters because all are written by professional writers, not the candidates. Some present the scripts better than others. -

That's what Hillary's advisers told her. How did that work out?
Obama is just stringing McLame along. Wait until Obama takes the stage with McLame.
McLame - Old and Busted
Obama - New Hotness
Obama will be the senior stuffing McLame the freshman in a trashcan on the first day of school.
Why isn't Obama debating McLame before the Presidential debates? He wants Cons the least amount of time possible to rationalize McLame's ineptness in the face of Obama.
It's going to be a massacre,Cons. I feel bad for McLame already. -

Nearly all of the world's leaders are calling for a halt to the hostilities and a peaceful solution to the crisis, and nearly all of the world's leaders are working in that direction.
Reply
Only an idiot would call for the U.S. to mount a military response, especially when the U.S. has no military reserve with which to mount such a response.
Working toward a peaceful solution is a FAR better presidential response than a call for more guns. -

Let's see. The ZionCons in Washington and Israel attack a defenseless civilian population in South Ossetia with rocket barrages for reasons of oil and gas, McCain goes berserk and loses it totally and this is the best you can come up with? Are you American? Sounds as though you are desperate to continue the ZionCon efforts to keep Americans dying in the mideast and central Asia for oil and israel.

Getting Georgia's War On - McCain goes berserk
The outbreak of war in Georgia on Friday offers a disturbing and
somewhat surreal taste of what to expect from John McCain should he become our nation's Commander in Chief.

The most telling reaction thus far has been Governor Bill Richardson's suggestion that the U.N. Security Council should "pass a strong resolution getting the Russians to show some restraint." Wait ... Russia is on the Security Council ... oops. Never mind.

ABNTV..... Taxes will increase bno matter who becomes president.... to think otherwise is a fairy tale. The US is in a financial bind .... additional taxes will be required to get the country out of the hole and additional taxes will be required to bring the existing infrastructure up to standards. So to say Obama represents a tax burden on the common everyday person and those who run against him do not represent a tax burden is way out in left field.

McCain stumbles 5 or 6 times a night even with the teleprompter. His ol` eyes are not what they used to be.
Reply
McCain got this totally one-sided and wrong headed again.
He wants to escalate when he`s got nothing to escalate with. He`s another cowboy diplomat only Bush used up all his ammo.
What an arrogant elitist arse! He claims to speak for all Americans when he claims `we are all Georgians tonight`.
He sure as heck does not speak for those of us who are interested in learning the truth before we shoot from the hip and kill the bartender`s wife.
When the Bush War Chief Cheerleader tells other countries they cannot invade other sovereign countries, how much weight do you think other countries give his babble?

Neither Obama nor the "hypocrite" McCain is President yet. Whatever they say now, may not be what they may say when they are actually on the hot seat.
Reply
However, it is important to note that Russia has not done anything different than what Bush & McCain did in Iraq. Invade and occupy a country. Russia had some reasons but Bush & McCain went to Iraq to steal its oil wealth.
So, you hypocrites, sit back and relax.
Certainly, Obama does not sound like a President who would invade and occupy another country for reasons other than if that country directly attacked US.-

Neither of these two candidates are scaring the Russians with their bombastic flourishes. What we need in these times are a Secratary of State & President who would. Where are you now that we need you Richard Nixon! The greatest foreign policy president in my lifetime. He and Kissinger were flawless in their many foreign policy successes!

BTW, Cons, do you now get why our European allies didn't want Georgia in NATO?
Reply
They knew what Saakashvili was up to. And they knew that the alliance was in no position to defend Georgia.
Saakashvili shouldn't have pushed the Ossetia issue. He overestimated the West and underestimated Russia.
If you really want to compare Obama and McLame on this issue, notice that neither of them can name any real concrete actions to take. That's because there are not any, Cons.
Bush just had to pis55 off Russia by pushing into their sphere of influence with that "missile sheild", didn't he.

I'm Barak Hussein Obambi and today I may support some "limited" off shore drilling because I inflated the tires on my car and bicycle and it didn't lower the prices of gasoline. I even had my car turned up and put a little extra WD40 on my bike chain. Gas prices are still high. Time for a flip flop, better start drilling. Flip-Flop of the century!

McCains flip-flops are so minor they are not even relevent.
Obama's flip-flops are of the sledge-hammer variety. Everything he campaigned on to fleece the Democratic nomination he has flip-flopped on.

So Georgia can break away from Russia after 200 years, but South Ossetia can't break away from Georgia. Is that what you are saying? Keep in mind that South Ossetia declared its independence from Georgia in the early 1990's and has had several referendums, which have supported it moves to separate from Georgia.
Reply
The question everyone should be asking is why Georgia decided to crush the South Ossetian people's aspirations for self rule at this particular juncture. -

If people can see past the labels of party , past the false myths about Obama's name, and/or past the color of his skin, they can recognize that he represents the best of American values.

I just finished reading another article condemning Obama for his "rock star" mystique, which is one of the latest attacks being waged by the GOP. Blaming Obama for others actions and associating him to other people has been the main tactic that the mudslingers have employed in their negative campaign. Pretty lame relying on only guilt by association.
The fact that the some people have put Barrack Obama on a pedestal does not mean that he deserves that treatment or the sour grapes and criticisms of those that are opposed to him.
There are many of us who simply prefer his policies over GWB's hand picked predecessor, John McCain. The majority of the country is against Bush and the war.
To fault the young people who are enthusiastically supporting Obama, is really sad; they are finally involved in the process. I guess some of you in the GOP would rather alienate the young voters too. So much for democracy and patriotism. Some of you consitently place party above your country, just as the Bush administration has placed the interests of private corporations above the interests of our national welfare.
God forbid those of us should cheer Obama on in defiance to the media's unfair scrutiny and the GOP's incessant mudslinging. Too bad it irritates many of you.
I hear more complaining and whining about Obama and nearly nothing that would attract anyone to McCain's policies that would simply continue the miserable path this country has been on for 8 years.-

I fault the young people who blindly support Obama. They have not done their homework. If any of them really listened to anything he said, they would realize that he stands for nothing except higher taxes. He does not want to serve the people. He wants to socialize this nation. He changes his mind more than I change my underwear. First he wants to stop off shore drilling. Now he wants to drill under "some circumstances". Then someone tells him they bombed Georgia. But he's so stupid he thinks it's the state of Georgia, not the country.
Reply
Oh, and the unfair media scutiny? He has every cable news channel in his back pocket. They worship him. He gets no negative press, even with his questionable relationships with muslim anti-Americans and bombers.
He's a candidate for change? That is also a joke. Every presidential candidate calls himself a candidate for change. He even steals speeches from rock stars. What a pathetic person.
He is a joke. Everyone knows it. And if he is elected President, he will be the laughing stock of the entire world, which is just going to invite more terrorist attacks, because they all know he won't fight back. Is that what our young people want? I sure hope not. Let's protect our rights to have opinions. We are not a socialist nation. Let's stay that way. VOTE MCCAIN.

Were any of you obanist alive at the end of the first gulf war,and if you were did you notice Iraq lost. When you lose you are obligated to sign certain documents known as terms of surrender. You must live up these terms,or suffer the consequences. we should have went back in starting in 92,and thru 2000.But we were too busy trying to tip-toe around the many terrorist attacks,so as not to annoy the terrorist.

Iraq signed many UN documents. FYI there was no automatic resumption of hostilities clasue in the case of a material breach of the terms of the UN ceasefire. There was never a resolution from the UN giving the US the authority to remove Saddam from power in Iraq.

For starters this article makes it sound as though Russia committed an act of unprovoked raw aggression.
Reply
The fact is that Georgia invaded the breakaway South Ossetia, attacked Russian Peacekeepers there and began to commit acts of genocide there in a effort to bring it back under their control. Russia had cautioned Georgia on this matter as well as the international community at the beginning of this month. But Georgia, emboldened by the idea that it had U.S. and NATO backing decided to start something that they can't finish by themselves and which they are trying to drag the rest of the world into.
That Obama reacted as he did could be considered a sign that perhaps he is more aware of the real circumstances behind this shadow opera than most. -

Insofar I agree that it is neither the time for fun politics nor for sunday afternoon speeches, but I think it isn´t fair to accept an actual president visiting the Bejing Olympic Games (What do I care about yesterday´s statement concerning the violation of human rights?), while the candidate should immediately return home from his holidays, having no concrete possibility of intervenation. George W. Bush is known for not being the first to realize what´s going on up. For a possible president Barack Obama, the time will come early enough to prove his skills.

Those on the right want to have it both ways. One moment they're slamming Obama as too inexperienced in foreign policy and the next they're claiming he's overstepping and being "arrogant". In going to China and slobbering all over Putin, Bush has solidified his legacy as the President with his mind literally on vacation for much of his Presidency. Cons are trying to make Obama the story when the real disgrace here is that Bush has thoroughly embarrassed America with another "My Pet Goat" moment.
