"A member of China's Politburo asked for the last-minute change to match one girl's face with another's voice, the ceremony's chief music director, Chen Qigang, said in an interview with Beijing Radio.

"The audience will understand that it's in the national interest," Chen said in a video of the interview posted online Sunday night."

That's so mean. Apparently the little girl had a pretty voice, but buck-teeth. Poor little thing. I'm not sure how this serves the "national interest". Everyone is not a great beauty, it's not like that's a secret. And all the time, they were touting how all the performers were just "ordinary Chinese citizens".

This kind of stuff makes me mistrust the good will of the Chinese. Only a real jerk would do something like this.

I'd be more likely to condemn the Chinese if not for Milli Vanilli and C&C Music Factory.

Not to mention most EVERY fashion magazine in the US.

      China knows what its doing.

The only thing different here is that they are messing around with children and what they did sent the wrong message to the little girls.
