I am sick and tired of these foreigners coming over here and suing because our rules, laws, morals, traditions are different than theirs and we should change to accomodate them. A company has the right to impose a dress code on its employess as long as its not too restrictive. If people were allowed to wear anything(or nothing) they wished to there would be quite a lot of confusion . If you want to wear your scarf apply at a muslim run restaurant. But leave our customs, mores and traditions alone!

Who? Got names? Got law suits? And sport, apparently the ladies are Americans. Hard to get it through some people's thick heads, that not all Americans share the same beliefs they do. Also hard to believe that these boneheads who call themselves "Americans" don't even know that the founders of the U.S. fought against religious persecution. And there you are, doing what our founders fought against. tsk tsk tsk.

Ok just another terrorist immigrant looking for a handout. If they don't want to conform to our standards they can get the f**k out of this country. O so sad they can't wear their bed sheets on their head, to damn bad businesses have dress codes, especially food industry. These people think we owe them something, ha they owe us for having to put up with them. I am tired of seeing REAL Americans getting crapped on by these leaches of society. Drive by a government housing complex or the welfare office what do you see, Muslims, Somalians, etc. They are taking food and shelter away from a REAL American who has lived and worked here their whole life and may have stumbled onto some hard times, who now can't get any help because they are not a *******. Makes me sick, I have seen it many times. For those to Muslim women either take of your diaper on your head and shut your damn mouth or go back to the middle east and walk over a land mine I don't care. One more thing America was founded with Christian values therefore is a Christian country, the religions of Muslims should not be allowed here unless you really like seeing planes flown into our peoples killing innocent Americans. Make these people feel unwelcome and hopefully they will leave. Thank You!

America is the land of the free...please feel free to take your "REAL American", Uber-Christian bible-thumping biggoted opinions and put them back where you keep your head.

Fact of the matter is, you should open your eyes and see that you can't judge a whole race, culture, religion or ethnic group on some extremists.
Being of both Nordic/Scandinavian AND Native American descent, I am more than happy to point out that the Vikings and Aluetian natives set foot on this ground before the "Christian,God fearing" colonists came and settled. Yet are we all living in a country where we speak Old Icelandic or Cherokee or offering prayers to Mighty Thor or the Everlasting Sky?
It's ok to Burn the witches, ok to kick the muslims out, but we can't throw the Christians to the Lions?
(to anyone who doesn't understand or appreciate my spiteful and sarcastic point of view, what I'm trying to say is: Take your biggoted hateful nazi holier than thou attitude and got to hell!)

They should be called American women.

If it were two Jewish men who refused to remove their yarmulkes, I doubt this "Political Republican" blog would call them "Jewish-American men" or "American-Jewish men."
Or maybe they would. But it wouldn't conform to AP style.

ok well heres the deal....every employee reads the rules and rgs of the job since it is posted for our viewing...however, why is it that i am (caucaion male) being forced to shave my beard which is neatly trimmed and very short but, i work with a muslim who has a beard and not neatlt groomed be allowed to keep his? we both work in the same position doing the same thing...we both cook/handle the same exact food...now i understand religion has something to do with it but in all regards, Food & Safety Law is still Food & Safety Law...doesnt everyone in all race, religion and creed have to follow the same law?

Everyone in this country is so sue happy yet everyone doesn't like lawyers...I don't get it. As far as this particular case about McDonalds goes, since when has it been illegal to hold a person to a dress code at work? I mean they're called uniforms for a reason...so that everyone looks UNIFORM...that meaning the same...alike. It just amazes me that in a world where everyone is crying out to be heard as an equel and to be treated just like everyone else, we have people like this who want special treatment and sue because it's unfair that they're treated like everyone else. Sure you can say it's a matter of religious freedom, but having the job isn't a freedom, it's a right. These things aren't given, they're earned and if our nation could somehow remember this (as we have no doubt lost our way) then i think we'd be a lot better off as a country.

<<< We supposedly live in a country where there is a separation of church and state. I will never understand how it is the government’s responsibility to decide a religious matter between a private citizen and a company.>>>>

Huh? Does this mean McDonald's denied them a job on religious grounds? When did McDonald's become a religion? Is the clown their 'god?'-

I'll give you a positive because I love the last line.

However, I'm certain that McDonald's could get enough people to go along with a "religion" if they wanted to just as a joke. Give donations for the food... tax exempt status, too. Maybe they can make me CEO... oops, errr... High Priest, for that idea.

This is a load. They applied for a job looking for a lawsuit. They won't take off the scarf? What about working in a business that fries pork breakfast sausage. This is a total scam on the business owner. It's time for the courts to side with the business on this one.

Muslims are trying to set a precedent to further their position in America.
Reply
It is one of the 10 things they feel will weaken the American way.
What worries me most about the AMERICAN muslim women is that they can move more freely
thru society with explosives strapped to them.
I would like to take a poll to see when you folks think the first radical muslim suicide bomber
will strike America.-

Perhaps the Muslims can wear their headgear in their countries because it's expected & accepted...and the fact they can't sue their employers every time there's a consequence of the scarves, etc., getting in hot oil, getting tangled in machinery and equipment. But in America, they could, and they would! I'm with Ronald on this one.

Not enough facts... were they required to not wear their head scarves due to safety regulations ( long or trailing portions possible to get caught in kitchen equipment resulting in injury or death), or something else entirely? In the event these women were discriminated against versus being required to comform to a safety policy, I think that is bogus. But I need to know more before making up my mind.

To me, it's an issue of "Where do we draw the line?"
Reply
If a nun wants to work there (not going to happen, but humor me), can she wear her own uniform because her religion dictates it?
If my religion requires me to go without a shirt while wearing an aluminum foil hat, should I be allowed?
My religion requires me to repent of my sins... but not while on the job. I practice my religion on my own time.
Does McDonald's have the right to a uniform policy or not? Seems that if you sign an agreement to wear a uniform, you should be willing to put on the little hat and then wear your scarf later.
