His thesis statement is, "How pathetic is it to watch John McCain struggle to accept Barack Obama as an accomplished legislator?" I think anyone would "struggle" to tell us WHAT, as a legislator, Obama has accomplished. The author of this article certainly doesn't tell us.
He goes on to say, "Instead of giving this black legislator the credit he deserves for capturing the attention and imagination of the tens of millions of Americans .... "
That answers the question: Instead of having any legislative accomplishments to look at, Obama's supporters must rely on their imagination.
On second thought, I guess you're right. This guy DID nail it, after all.-

Let's look at just a few things Obama 'tried' to do. You remember the changes to the bankrupcy bill the CONS pushed through for their big money pals? Of course you do. Well Democrats tried to get some amendments in that bill to pass. They didn't. Here's two of them;
1. Amendment 16: Would have protected the homes of those serving in Iraq from bill collectors. You do know that not being able to work, cause you're in Iraq, you can't pay your bills....right? Well, johnny voted NO. Obama voted yes.
2. Amendment 17: Would have protected the elderly from losing their homes to bankruptcy. You know, the elderly who have their savings wiped out from illness? Johnny voted NO. Obama voted yes.
Then johnny voted for cloture. That shut down the discussions. Can't have Americans know what he and his CON pals were doing.
So, there you have just two of johnny boys accomplishments. What a fine man you choose to back. Now you'll have to excuse me, while i vomit.-

'scathing' is what that's called, I think
Reply
and you didn't even mention the most puzzling thing of all: McCain's anti-veteran voting record
what the hell is that? like some example of projected self-loathing?
I'm no political expert, but I sniffed out immediately that Obama had a pretty clean record, deduced it from the nature the rhetoric against him.
Imagine if Obama went hardcore negative on McCain? Instead of showing him in an ad with Paris bemoaning celebrity, an ad with McCain split-screen with Edwards saying 'some things people do [dramatic political ad pause] cross all party lines' . Or referencing the veteran vote thing. Or the flip-flops and misspeak. Or the Keating Five [didn't they have a hit song called 'last train to Clarksville' or something? and did McCain play keyboard or just BASE.
But Barack's camp seems to be rankin on Johnny only for the Big Oil campaign moneys, I haven't seen other Obama ads of a 'negative' attack-y nature
----
here is a very weird you tube clip of a confused McCain, it takes him an unusually long time to recognize his own wife as he goes thru the robotic glad-handing process...just an odd bit of strangeness that struck me

I've decided that the Democrats have a fatal flaw. They assume that Americans are intelligent, as a whole. They assume Americans will listen to facts, and pay attention to issues. They're wrong. And for that reason, just might lose this election. Americans, as a whole, are sound bite morons.

there is also an odd phenomenon where people will hear people say something enough times, they'll repeat it as fact, accept it
Reply
John Madden, the football guy? He actually has a masters in education, and claims that repetition is the main way people learn
so when a larger than life figure like Rush says liberal this and liberal that for 20 years, suddenly liberal is a dirty word, and used as an insult here
Its some kind of conditioning
I hope the majority of Americans are not morons, but I can see how you reached that conclusion
Voter turnout alone is not a good indication
I actually think that Obama will get in-he's a much more appealing candidate-INFINITELY so, than Kerry.
So, for many reasons, if McCain wins I will be really shocked and have to conclude as you have, that critical thinking has become as rare as clean air-

ah see, you've set up a conundrum by thinking you're a critical thinker
Reply
what if you're NOT a critical thinker? If you're not a critical thinker, how would you think it out well enough to reach that conclusion?
just playing, you are quite likable and reasonable from what I've read here recently
some would say there is not a whole lot that can prepare one for leading the free world
some point at governorship or long Senate time, but is that really the same thing?
I am not reassured by McCain's agedness and experience as a Senator, especially since his decline the last few years in anything resembling straight talk or stalwartness
you want a stalwart free-thinking maverick?
Ron Paul not only crossed party lines to vote AGAINST the war in Iraq, he voted against funding it as well
I'm not a fan of either guy, uh, either, but McCain's longer experience is littered with scandal and liability and recent flip-flopping, so that's why I would pick the less experienced candidate-that and I'm not sure there IS appropriate experience for the big chair[not that I would know much about the inner-workings of government, just that a governor or senator is definitely not a president] -

Hiring McCain on experience is like hiring a typewriter repairman because your hard drive crashed. McCain promises that he can faithfully extend the policies that have dug is into this hole. The world has changed significantly and what we need is someone who can recognize that old rules about borders, trade, and economics have changed and therefore we as a country need to adapt. Does anyone know of a company that still makes typewriters? McBush's experience is no longer relevent. We need a leader who understands the new world.

The problems of yesterday are the same as the problems of today. Technology has changed , but human problems have not. Obama is a child and is not ready, maybe in 10 to 15 years. He has no way of knowing how to make the hard choices that a real leader has to make.

True, McCain has about 22 years senatorial experience (MINUS 62% absences.) Still, that's more than Obama. Are you pleased with the state of the union today? Are things better today than 22 years ago because of McCain? Are your Constitutional freedoms more secure? McCain's 22 years of influence and all the baggage he has accumulated (lies and flip-flops, immorality, pro-amnesty, pandering, etc) represents the best argument I can think of to THROW THE BUM OUT!
Reply
McCain was flatly REJECTED in 2000. I'm dying to know: what great things has he (or his party) done since then that would make me want to elect him now? -

Yes but what kind of experience? If you ask most Americans they are tired of the way things work in Washington. I'm looking to Obama's lack of experience in these ways to help us change them. Now this may come back to bite us in the backside, but considering what has been going on for the last 7 years alone I'm willing to take that chance.

Reply
I don't know why anyone would want this job, it is a tremendous amount of pressure and you are under constant scrutiny by the other party always looking for an edge. As president you don't make the laws, all you can do is stop them. But it doesn't matter because you are the one that always gets the blame.
Obama has no experience that I can tell. It is easy to vote to give away the store when it is not yours, it is tough to not.

We know for a fact that McCain VOTED for the Iraqi war, and he bears the responsibility for more than 4000 of our bravest losing their lives. He has also voted against benefits for vets.
Reply
Where is his conscience?
Let us also not forget that he is the one who was tortured in North Vietnamese prison, and was speaking with enough bravada that he will not accept torture in any form -
Until he had a private meeting with Cheney. Nobody knows for sure what happened during that meeting, but when McCain came out he was a subdued and sullen sorry a*s who mumbled that waterboarding was OK.
We all can speculate and guess. My guess is that Cheney had something on McCain and he tiold hi that he would use it. Some foprm of political blackmail, maybe?
Who knows. The only thing I remember is the ashen face of this paper tiger trying to lose himself in the crowd!

Here's a newsflash for you: Obama and McCain ARE NOT the only two people in the race! When you learn how to read and develop some comprehension skills, start over. I never wrote, or even hinted, that I "choose to back" the warmongering, adulterous, lying McShame and he has nothing whatsoever to do with my comments -- neither do Democrats, CONS, "johnny boys [sic] accomplishments," nor how anyone voted. In point of fact, McShame is Congress' most absent senator and Obama frequently votes, "present." As senators, they're both pathetic. Your typical liberal response is to attack someone (me) based on your perception of reality which you obtained from thin air.

2. Johnny voted no because this is a small part of Medicare. But realisitically, is it the government's job to protect anyone's house if they can't pay their bills?

Reply
The energy prices that Bush is responsible for.
The recession that Bush is responsible for.
The War Crimes Bush has committed.
There are thousands more things more imortant in this country than someone choosing to terminate a pregnancy, which is not a baby. Which also shows your ignorance. The fact you want to take away someones freedom to choose is extremely unamerican.-

This isn't an abortion thread, but since you want to make it one...
Reply
First, we should just agree to disagree on whether a fetus is a baby. That debate will not be conceded by either of us. automan909 spoke about "already born live babies" which you claim "is not a baby." Huh? Come back when you sober up, and maybe he won't seem so ignorant. Personally, I don't see anything "extremely unamerican" about ensuring a LIVE BABY's life will not be deprived without due process. It's in the 5th Amendment -- you know, that pesky Constitution thingy that keeps getting in the way of the liberal agenda.
You say, "someone's freedom to choose" as blithely as people refer to "collateral damage" when referring to war crimes. Murder in the womb and murder on the streets are BOTH murder.-

Your comrade made it an abortion thread. He spoke about abortion in one of his other threads. And as I stated in another thread, there needs to be no law concerning killing of live babies, because in pretty much every state carries the same penalty as Murder. So some kind of new law is redundant.

I would have been shocked if Johnny the Vet-Hating Vet McCain had actually voted for the military for once. Five votes AGAINST VA funding. Mr. McVacation also skipped ten Iraq votes despite being the #1 cheerleader for the war; had better things to do. Also voted AGAINST troop funding, armor, and equal time off as on in Iraq/Afghanistan.
Oh, and he was against the NEW GI bill.

--PA 90-0249: Public Aid Amendment
Reply
This required sending public aid recipients to rehab rather than cutting the benefits "where clinically appropriate substance abuse treatment capacity is available."
--PA 90-0474: Job Training and Economic Development
Added a section for a grant program for organizations trying to help poor people get jobs.
--PA 90-0141: Criminal Procedure
Added a motion for convicted defendants to get DNA or fingerprint analysis done to try to prove their innocence.
--PA 92-0156: Emergency Contraception Law
Provides that emergency contraception shall be provided by hospitals that provide services to sexual assault survivors and requires rules to be developed by each hospital to conform with the law.
--PA 92-0088: Medical Care
Added grants for new community health centers.
--PA 90-0017: Public Aid Rules
This amendment changed the rules for who is ineligible for Illinois Public Aid by adding a person violating a condition of probation or parole to the list. It also added that people who have tried to get public aid from two states by misrepresenting their residency status is ineligible. People convicted of drug crimes don't get cash assistance but can get food stamps. There are numerous other changes please read them if interested.
In addition, here are a few examples of what Obama's accomplished in his short term in the U.S. Senate:
--Authored, with Sen. **** Lugar (R-IN), the Lugar-Obama nonproliferation initiative (signed into law by the president), expanding U.S. cooperation to destroy conventional weapons. It also expands the State Department's ability to detect and interdict weapons and materials of mass destruction.
--Eliminated gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and required disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act," which was signed into law in September 2007.
--Sponsored the "Iran Sanctions Enabling Act" supporting divestment of state pension funds from Iran's oil and gas industry. -

In no way in hell are they acting in good faith. Since being president by a 5-4 vote their goals have been to send this nation into the deepest debt in its existence and send that money to the ownership class. Reducing or eliminating any tax burden on the ownership class. W's 2 biggest proposals are eliminating capital gains taxes and inheritance taxes. What he means is retards like him who owe everything in life to being born the grandson of a NAZI banker and the son of Iraqs chemical weapons supplier should not bear any tax burden but that Joe Smith who lays pipe or wires buildings that benefit the country should pay for it instead. When W moves to Dubai to live off what he stole I will laugh at your stupid ass.

Your post starts with a stupid liberal lie. The supreme court gave it to him. What a crock. I live in Florida and had to put up with all of that idiocy. There was the count. There was the automatic recount. There was the recount started by Gore for selected counties. There was Gore trying to get the servicemens absentee ballots thrown out. There was the attempt to change the law but the federal law says that whatever the law is on voting day is the law that will be used on the results. The Supreme Court upheld that law. Afterward there was several recounts by many different groups.
Guess what. Gore lost in all but the most biased count. You obviously can't handle that your man lost. Get over it. Hate rants like yours started at that point. It is disgusting that the libs can't take a loss but have to wine and rant about things that never happened.
Then they had to whine about Kerry losing. Dirty tricks in Ohio is your rant there. But ignore dirty tricks by Democrats like knifing tires in the sidewall of Republican cars that were to transport the infirm to the polls. What noble people the libs are.
Attitudes and rants like yours only make you look foolish except to those who do the same rents. You all feed on each other. One makes up a lie and all believe it without examining the REAL evidence.-

He is now sponsoring a bill proposed by the UN so US taxpayers can pay 0.7% of the US GDP to "help impoverished nations". In 13 years thats 850 billion dollars, and he is sponsoring it because most of the money goes to his brothers in Africa. That $850B in aid will cost zero lives and will do exponentially more to stop terrorism than the Bush/McCain cowboy diplomacy strategy which will cost eight trillion dollars or more over the same time period and get hundreds of thousands of innocents killed.

getting old blows, don't it?
you do have a point, however, that times do not necessarily dictate attitudes in good people
not everyone was in favor of dropping bombs in 02 and 03, for instance
[score a minor point for Obama, he didn't have the opportunity to vote against it, if my aged brain remembers right, and admitted in '04 he wasn't sure he would have voted against Iraq, but at least he spoke against it]
Check the link: the third quote is a jawdropper - Obama saying 'There's not much of a difference in my position [on Iraq] and George Bush's at this stage'
Obama goes on to explain that he was toe-ing the party line at the time for the '04 election

This article proves McCain is a racist bigot (see title) because they say so. Full of accuracies, like Obama's legislative accomplishments. They are well known and famous whatever they are. I don't have to tell you - you know. And I'm so glad they said the "black legislator" so we all are now informed of the fact he is "black", not white or brown. That way we all know we should vote for him because of that. McCain should drop out immediately because he is not black and has too much experience in government and in life. Of course he embellished his military career; he's running for President. I'm so glad that is beneath Obama. He never flip flops for political expediency like McCain does. Everyone (especially you typical white persons clinging to your religion and guns who see Obama as different and not like all those guys on the paper money) - vote for Obama because he is black, and he has all those great legislative accomplishments that have changed the course of the country, and the Germans and Muslims like him. In any case it is important to vote. Vote for the Obama of your choice, but VOTE!

''people who have a mixed blood line are always refering to themselves as a black person''
Reply
that probably goes back to slave days
back then a drop of black blood meant you were all black
I feel like I've written too much here already, but I find it fascinating and revealing that tho at the time the white race was considered superior, somehow, as with Barack, even someone with a white mother was considered black.
If the white race is superior, shouldn't white ancestry and blood win out over black blood and genes? Yet the attitude was adopted that part black equaled all black
this reveals a feeling of insecurity and inferiority in those that came up with this logic to me, and seems contradictory
the other conclusion can only be that the suppression of blacks needed maintained so 'mixed' peoples were stigmatized to keep the social system of white hierarchy in tact and prevent 'mixing' or miscegenation.
[I just watched a Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight champ, documentary, and their was actually legislation proposed at the time against race mixing. That's how I came up with 'miscegenation'. An excellent docu, replete with old film from 1900-20 or so-amazing to watch. There was a market for boxing films back then, unlike other sports, so it is some of the absolute oldest sports film]
PS: since race is such an arbitrary thing anyway, I honestly consider Obama white, and am therefore really befuddled by the talk of him being racist against whites
Just for fun, prove I'm wrong
make an argument for him being black instead of white
good luck with that-

No, that's a reality of life. I'm part Hispanic (white) and part Anglo-Saxon (white), but the "all-white" people in my community always bundled me with the all-Hispanics (which may be brown or white or a combination). I was never given a choice to pick a "side", which I never would have done, since I always considered myself an American, period.

Mr OBama obviously could not benefit from his half white heritage and his predominantly white upbringing. As soon as he approached adulthood he had no choice but to live the black experience. And there are few people with any intelligence that do not admit that it is not the same as the white experience.

I doubt you'll get an answer. One of the interesting aspects of the answer is that it normally ignores the key aspect of what socialism and communism are and how they are different from one another. Sadly, most people around the world don't know what socialism is anymore. Apparently Europe follows a "socialistic" model, or so many Europeans claim, all the while ignoring what socialism is and not realizing Europe follows a progressive model.

Well, my particular line of study isn't in theology (three guesses at what it is) so most of what I know about the bible comes from years ago, in Sunday school. But it seems to me the overall message of Christ was to ignore class, give up your wealth, live a simple life and embrace your fellow man. To me that indicates a more communistic perspective then a socialist one. However, I can't really get into the details of what he said... of the two examples you cited, I recall the first one (which seems to be indicative of communism) but not the second one.

He is now sponsoring a bill proposed by the UN so US taxpayers can pay 0.7% of the US GDP to "help impoverished nations". In 13 years thats 850 billion dollars, and he is sponsoring it because most of the money goes to his brothers in Africa. Obama stories are in here, right now it's bash McCain time. Just keep up with the newest stories, eventually you will see a shift. You can see in some of the responses that opinions also shift, people bashing McCain today were trashing Obama last week, and vise versa. John Edwards story is old news, that was over a day or two after the story broke.

Having respect for the rival should be self-evident in a presidential campaign. Just to have come so far is an extraordinary achievement and a success one can be proud of. When John Mc Cain attests Barack Obama a lag of intelligence and experience, this only tells us something about the state of his own brain! Both candidates haven´t had the chance yet to prove much of their political skills apart from their home states, but Obama was the one to make the first step abroad. Obama shouldn´t play the race card. He should leave it in his pocket just to show to his rival and all other critics: Yes, I can do without it!

ROTFLMAO
Obama finally went on a week long campaign trip to foreign countries. He has been a legislature and now Senator for 3 1/2 years. He won his first election aided by Rezco. For some reason all other candidates were declared ineligible including the incumbent. He never in the legislature created any bills. His record is voting for far left all the time. When a bipartisan group tried to fix the corruption in Chicago he voted against the group. In the Senate he has the most liberal voting record. Even to the left of Ted Kennedy.
McCain was in the Air Force and was a prisoner of war. He became the leader of the biggest squadron and its record was lackluster. He turned it around and made it a top level squadron. He served as liaison to congress. He decided to retire and become a politician. He was offered Rear Admiral to stay but he refused. He has been congressman and senator for many years. He has gone to other countries on fact finding junkets to many countries including Iraq and Georgia. He knows most of the leaders of those countries as well.
Obams is very inexperienced.
McCain is very experienced.
Obama has made many mistakes when he talks without a prompter.
McCain's favorite campaign method is the town hall with people at random asking him any question they like. a few mistakes but mostly accurate.
Who from this has the better intelligence. The one requiring a teleprompter of the one that usually speaks off the cuff.
I love the fact that you don't see that Obama has been playing the race card. He is a bit subtle but his followers are not. People like you for instance. Anybody saying anything against him is a racist. However that church he went to is very racist. Just go to their web site and look.

Quantity has nothing to do with quality. When people say Obama is ''INEXPERIENCED'' what exactly is meant by that? The current leader of our country had not much more experience. Daddy was a not so good president , now son is. Not to mention his average grades in school. McCain won't help our overseas affairs. Leaders elsewhere look at him as an extention of Bush, which is also my opinion. We need a leader in office who wants to make things right, not represent our country with arrogance and no understanding.

Basically you all fail at political discussion.
Linking posts to Obama's short track record as a policy maker doesn't mean you did research or know what the hell you're talking about. On the flip side McCain has about as much where-with-all to lead as pretty much any career politician (not very much at all). When you boil it all down either way we're totally screwed. Stop pretending like your vote even matters anymore. Voters are a minority segment of this country, and have been for quite some time.
If you really want to make an impact on the state of our nation, then pay attention to how you spend your money. Stop buying crap from other countries and start buying crap from our country. Stop wasting so much energy and effort into all these self righteous trumped up idealogical causes that serve the means to an end for some rich twit who's hiding his money in foreign banks from government taxation. Maybe if we weren't all such selfish bastards running around thinking that our way is the only way and anyone who says other wise is a schmuck, we'd be better off. You want a better world? Start where you live. All politics is local. Get down to your local assembly and ask them questions on what they're doing to make YOUR town better. You want less idiots running around? Take it up with your kids. Big idiots come from little idiots, and I see a ton of little idiots running around every day. Federal government is broken and you can blame the bipartisan party system we have in place. Dems get in office and spend a ******** of our money to make bigger government with more reach on all things that effect us to make it seem like they're doing something important while they circle jerk their wallets around. Then you get the Republicans in office who use all that extra breathing room that the Dems left behind for them to flex their corporate muscles and circle jerk their wallets around while they make petty fiscal reforms to appease unhappy voters. The cycle repeats.
So I urge you all, start somewhere you can make a strong and immediate difference in the evolution of this nation. Start at home.-

Talking about balls. Who are you to come in here telling people that they fail? The vote is all we have. Buy American what? LOL! We can try to pick and choose what we buy all we want. The corporations will decide what's put on the shelves and the people don't have a thing to say about it. Half of the so called American products are only partly produced here anyway. The only sole American made product made in the U.S. is what you mentioned "flatulence"! When you go to the gas pump can you opt for gas from Texas or gas from Alaska. When you buy a car, can you find a car that was made entirely in America? Can you be absolutely sure that the cabinets in your kitchen or the fixtures in your bathroom are made entirely in America?

By the way redundancy is your enemy. American made products are usually made in the US.
If you care half as much as you pretend to you wouldn't have an issue with going the extra difference to ensure your money is being used to support the American economy. I'm sure if you put that little thing called effort into your consumerism that you put into your posts trying to peg people as ignorant to suit your omnipotent self image, you could find a way to put at least 75% of the money you spend on crap into our economy. Even if this is simply too hard for you to do, I'm more than certain that you can manage to find your local law makers and have them do something useful for your community. Also, don't come back at me asking what I'd have you push for, because different regions dictate different needs and problems to be addressed.
Simply put, you still fail.
And to answer your first question, "Who are you to come in here telling people that they fail?", I'm just a regular Joe like you. I thought you were Mr. Professor. Not mr. Joe who you claim to be. You seem to be able to pass out grades pretty efficiently. Voting is all we have to change our government. Any other means via revolution or protest changes nothing. The news doesn't even bother to cover protests anymore. Don't try to push the reponsibility of putting money back into this economy on the American people alone. I am active, not only here, but on the phone and writing letters to my Congressmen and Senators. For you to assume otherwise is foolish. The corporations are the ones controlling the economy. If you protest by cutting back on one product or service we close down the free trade and become isolationists. Since we produce so little now it just seems ludicrous to suggest it. I could care less who you or anyone else votes for really. I just hate to see day after day people evading the truth on these matters and I feel it's my civic responsibility to say something about it. I don't write any of these stories i just submit them and comment on them. If you don't like this forum then go elsewhere, but I think your entry into this discussion was combative. I'm no McCain fan, but since you brought up "bigots and racists", I must mention the FACT that Obama has accepted the endorsement by real humanitarians like the New Black Panther Party. He even had the endorsement , including the Black Panthers logo, on his very own website for a short time. Would a white candidate get away with posting the KKK logo on their site? Not hardly!! Google 'Obama Black Panthers' and 'Obama Communists' and you'll find some interesting info. Why is it that people are so quick to shout "Racist!" at white people, but won't dare call a non-white person a racist, even when that person has more than proven hate and bigotry for whites? Obama is a RACIST! Can you say "double-standards"?

I don't think the author makes his point at all. Most of the things that he criticizes the McCain campaign for have nothing to do with race: they would make the same arguments against any democratic candidate. They're untrue, unfounded, and unprovable, but if they keep repeating the same thing over and over, you know there are those like Locky, automan, and AG that buy into it.
Reply
Articles like this do more harm than good for the Democrats. We already have republicans claiming that no matter what argument they use, democrats accuse them of being racist. This article does EXACTLY that. It uses a whole bunch of arguments, none of which point to racism, and then tries to make the point that it's all because of racism.-

The article doesn't claim that McCain is a racist nor a bigot. What the author is implying is that his belittling attacks are attracting them to his camp. So let's make this clear. Just because you vote for McCain doesn't make you a racist or bigot. Racist's and bigots, however, will support the tactics used by McCain to discredit and demean Obama.

I fail to see the worthiness of that kind of article. It's like a sideways way of implying that McCain's supporters are all racists and bigots (or at least appears that way). Or could be a warning that if you support McCain, you'll be indistinguishable from the racists and the bigots...
Reply
There's no link from McCain's tactics to ractist/bigoted thinking presented in the article to explain WHY his tactics would attract such people (if indeed it is meant as a sociological assessment of the type of people most likely to respond to McCain's type of campaigning).
No, it doesn't say that McCain is a racist / bigot, and it doesn't say that all his supporters are racists / bigots, so what does it say? A whole lot of nothing, and in the process, it puts a lot of people on the defensive. There are 2 defensive strategies: fight or flight. So either you drive republicans away, or you make them angry and aggressive. Either way, you lessen the chance of meaningful discourse in the future.
Racists and bigots are more likely to support McCain. Fine. Then you should also admit the following:
- Black racists are more likely to support Obama.
- Communists are more likely to support Obama.
- Terrorist sympathizers are more likely to support Obama (because rather than just wanting to kill everyone who thinks differently, he would rather actually try to resolve the problems that CAUSE terrorism).
The point here? When you say that black racists, communists, and terrorist sympathizers are more likely to support Obama, it looks like an attack on Obama and/or his followers. It's not, it's just a fact. Extremists are more likely to support those closer to them on an ideological spectrum - even though the bulk of the supporters are NOT extremists and the politician is not, himself an extremist.
It's a Rovian fear tactic. Remind people that those they're afraid of support a particular man, and they're more likely to fear that man as well.-

Yes, I have to agree with you, but the lines have already been drawn. How many stories on Propeller have already implied that Obama is a terrorist sympathizer or obama is a communist or black racist's support Obama. I'll go one further with you, Not only do they merely imply it, they attribute it to him. How many comments just on this post alone have said, "Obama is a socialist, Obama is racist" On and on. The problem with the Democratic party in general is that they take the high ground on these issues. They also continue to lose. Admit or not, spreading these distortions are effective. Rove knows it. Bush campaigner's know it. It got him elected twice. I have received pm's and other objection's from liberal's and middle of the roaders many times since I joined propeller. John Kerry just sat there and took it. See what happened to his campaign? McCain sat there and took it in the 2000 campaign, what happened to him. I realize that politics is a dirty game. To play fair and by the rules doesn't guarantee victory. I know that if I cease and desist form putting out these stories. Someone will just take my place. The conservatives will continue their Obama slime stories and Edwards love-child stories. Democrats need to get tough, when the going get's tough and they need to stick together. That's why we keep losing. We lose sight of the prize.

If this was true Obama would like McCain? Is there someone Obama hangs out with who is not a racist? (Wright,Phister,Faracon) When you liberals stop crying, you may want to take a look at the McCain's daughter adopted in 1991(that's right, she's not white). You might also check out Cindy McCain's other job she spends half her time on. You know having land mines removed from war torn third world countries. Maybe you could look up how much she spends on that. What does Obama spend his time and money on? Maybe if he's going to talk the talk, he could learn from Cindy McCain and walk the walk.

McCain got beaten with that same story by our current leader Bush. The rumor was that he fathered an illegitimate child. Although it wasn't true, he was beaten handily by Bush. McCain said he would not play those dirty tricks that have become the trademark of Republican politics, but he has started to use them now. He's just using theses tactics in a more connotative manner. Demeaning candidates with race issues are not new in politics, but for a politician that has suffered defeat as a result of it's use on himself, it's horrible that the same candidate 8 years later would attempt to subtly use the same tactic against his opponent.

Obama has done a very good job and accomplished alot.
He has done a very good job of changing his position on just about everything he talked about during the primaries when he was running as a Democrat.
He has done a very good job as a junior senator riding the coatails and assigning his name to any legislation that he thought would further his political carreer. He has done a very good job at convincing many of the american people that he really is the next rock star president.
He has accomplished all this in a relatively short period of time.
It would be interesting to see a list of legislation that Obama actually authored on his own, (and this is the tough part) that passed. -

This is the dumbest thing I ever saw posted. Obama an accomplished legislator..what a joke. The man was in office for 143 days before running for president. I'm from Illinois, this guy was a crooked Illinois legislator before that - he was joined at the hip with Tony Rezco who is now going to jail. Any idiot planning on voting for this empty suit will hopefully wake up before election day.

The above posts come forom what is commonly known as "sock puppets". They are conservatives that make up a a fictitious new member and make comments that they generally don't have the courage to say. In order to not be challenged and have their own reputations tarnished they use these psuedo-members as a means to make mean spirited comments. They know if they said these things themselves it would make them look bad. For all those members that haven't seen this or been unaware that it happens. I provide the above examples. The psuedo members intellen and gattoprtchy are what we distastefully refer to as "sock puppets".

First, what the heck has happened to Netscape? An article like this wouldn't have even made it to a listing. It's not news, excluding grammar and spelling errors, it's barely an editorial piece. There are tons of errors and in general, I would expect better from a high school author.

On the comments, most people left on Propeller are left and see nothing wrong with Obama. He's claiming to be a uniter. Though in his time in state government and now federal, he's never crossed and had proven to be a DNC loyalist. He's supported the most radical forms of birth control and abortion. From his attendance records from his church, he's was an active member for over 23 years. In all that time, he never realized the anti-white "sermons" given by Wright were in fact hate speech and wrong. Go figure. Harvard educated and he can't figure out damning white America is a bad thing. Then take his wife, who one minute claims we shouldn't pay attention to Barry's race but in the next breath claims for the very first time in her adult life she's proud of America. Then Barry hangs out with Ayers. A guy who went to jail and should still be there for bombing an FBI office. Yea, I can see why the dems what this guy. Okay, no I can't. I don't think they properly vetted him and are only supporting him because he reads speeches well and is black.-

Thanks Hippie Drill, finally someone is stepping up to the plate. All of what any decent society is built upon is personal responsibility. No "Leader" can accomplish anything for you that will make you feel more of a person than you are. Only you yorself can do that. Giving is great when you are the giver, however the giver should select the target for the gift. If you disagree, go buy gifts for everone in your family and then give them to someone the first person you see afterwards. They might appreciate the gifts but may have no use for them at all. Would be best to be given to the ones they were bought for.

"Obama" and "accomplished legislator" don't equate. Obama had a lackluster career in the Illinois State Legislature until his last year when Senate President Emil Jones gifted Obama with legislation to co-sponsor. The reason Jones did so is because he wanted to help Obama in his run for the U.S. Senate. And what has Obama accomplished during his first term in the U.S. Senate? Nothing legislatively of import. He's barely warmed his senate seat since he's spent most of his term running for the presidency. His promises of "hope and change" are fraudulent since he has no record of accomplishments to back up those promises. Obama is audaciously ambitious as are the unnamed powers who are backing his absurd candidacy.

Obama is the future.
This article is right on in saying the same thing.
John Kennedy had no experience when he became President,
yet he represented hope to this country, and we never recovered
from that loss, nor did we recover from Vietnam, which is also
a war we never should have gotten involved with. Today, we are
at war with a country that didn't fire a single shot at us, and
it was the same in Vietnam, when we invaded their country.
McCain believes in war. He will always believe in war, BUT
We can never go to a war in the future - not with the nuclear
threats out there because we will destroy ourselves so Obama
is right to end the war and say we need to use diplomacy and talk things out. If we divide this country with racial sides and vote McCain in
office, because most of the people at his rallys are not mixed
and we are a mixed nation.
No matter where you put that. WE ARE A MIXED NATION AND NOBODY
WANTS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT. WE STILL CHOOSE SIDES LIKE
KIDS IN A PLAYGROUND THAT GO AFTER THE OTHER GUY.
The visual reality is stark at every McCain rally, except when a token black got up to say something and he did that for
the publicity as a radio jock.
Today, we have to look at ourselves as universal for we are
the world. When 100,000 people in Germany came forward to
hear Obama, that said everything. They were far more intelligent than a lot of us, who choose Presidents based on
personality and not brains.
We support our leaders, not for their intelligence, for Bush
is a great eample of that, and so is McCain. It's about time
we grew up as a nation and showed the world we are a great
nation because we moved into the future. -

Hello, I am so tired of this talk about the inexperience of Sen. Obama, Guess what, every President that ever was a President went into the Presidential position having no experience at being a President! However, the experience to even run for the position, I would think the position called for a prequisite of intelligence, wouldn't you think? Now, there was not one that got that far without some degree of something that says I can do this,If I am elected,Ummmm. I am sure they just didn't just come out of nowhere unprepared so Obama's place on the ballot and in the running for our next President has nothing to do with his not having experience. So cut it out with that Garbage, Just go and vote Obama!!!!!!!

those who voted for McCain in this election did not do so because of race. The only people that voted a certain way because of race are those who voted for Obama BECAUSE of his skin color...people are so excited that there could black man as president that they overlooked the fact that Obama is not qualified for the position and, whats even more scary, his ties to shady characters, people who are anti-American, and A KNOWN TERRORIST!! not to mention his socialist views and policies. if McCain had had any of these ties there would be no way in hell it would be kept so quiet.

I really was determined not to write anything while reading what everyone is saying but i just cant help myself! Now at the risk of making myself look dumb by just writing anything.... You all are making yourselves look like idiots! There wouldnt be half this much talk if Obama wasnt black.... thats what this is all about and its sick. There is absolutely NOTHING negative about a black man winning over a white man. I am really disappointed to see people thinking ONLY of his skin.... its 2008! His skin color has nothing to do with his ability to be president. Just like whitey's white skin would have had nothing to do with his ability. I wish people could just sit back and accept what happened....we aren't going to know if we made a good or bad choice for a while so shut up and wait.

I AM VERY HAPPY, "GO OBAMA" YESTERDAY WAS HISTORY IN THE MAKING, IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE, FOR A BETTER FUTURE AND I HAVE FAITH THAT ONE DAY WE CAN ALL COME TOGETHER, NO MATTER WHAT RACE OR GENDER AND BE UNITED AS ONE, IN GODS EYES WE ARE ALL EQUAL, NONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER YET SO MUCH HATE EXIST AND SO MUCH BITTERNESS DWELLS INSIDE SO MANY OF US BECAUSE WE ARE AFRAID TO EMBRACE CHANGE, I NEVER DREAMED I WOULD SEE THE DAY THAT AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOULD HAVE BEEN ELECTED AND CHOSEN TO BE OUR PRESIDENT, I AM AFRICAN AMERICAN AND WE HAVE COME ALONG WAY, I DON'T DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANYONE, I LOVE ALL RACES AND ALL PEOPLE UNLESS THEY PERSONALLY DO OR SAY SOMETHING TO OFFEND ME. I MAY BE NAIVE TO BELIEVE THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. EVEN WHEN IT LOOKS HOPELESS, THERE IS A RAY OF SUNSHINE AT THE END OF DARK STREET. I KNOW IT WILL BE TOUGH GIVEN THE ECONOMICAL DISASTER THAT WE ARE IN BUT I HAVE FAITH IN BELIEVING THAT IT WILL GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER BUT IT WILL GET BETTER, THIS ECONOMIC CRISIS TOOK TIME TO DEVELOP AND IT WILL TAKE TIME TO FIX, NONE OF US KNOW HOW LONG OR HOW FAST. I THINK WE JUST HAVE TO PRAY FOR PATIENCE AND STRENGTH TO GO ON EACH DAY IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING. NOW IS THE TIME WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER, WE ARE GOING THROUGH STRUGGLES FROM ONE STATE, ONE COUNTRY TO ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD, IN ALL RACES, IN ALL GENDERS, THERE IS STRUGGLES , THERE ARE BATTLES TO BE OVERCOME AND WE AS A PEOPLE CAN RISE ABOVE IT ALL, RED,BLUE,BLACK OR WHITE. TO ALL THOSE THAT READ THIS, YOU CAN CALL ME ANYTHING YOU WANT, ANY NAME IN THE BOOK AND IT WON'T MATTER TO ME, I AM HAPPY, I AM FEELING SOMETHING INSIDE THAT IS SO WONDERFUL, NOTHING CAN BRING THIS FEELING DOWN, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Obama has accomplished something: he's a Harvard University graduate and your next president for 4 years, etc. God's people put the right person in the White House. This time God showed his power across the country, obviously. Racism, jealousy, hatred and greed lost on November 4, 2008. Now, let's revised all history books and write -in the name Barack Obama, our 44th president of the USA. No one can steal this piece of history. Dreams do come true for those who believe!

I have a friend who is on SSI. He voted for Obama because Obama is going to take money from rich people and give it to him. So Obama bought this election by promising the poor pie in the sky which almost certainly is not going to materialize. My friend does not realize that those "rich people" include small business owners who will almost certainly be driven out of business by his economic plans.

I voted for Obama when he became a senator for the State of Illinois, He made all these promises about improving the financial state of Illinois, improving education, and all that other BS. What does he do? He lied because he did not even do one thing he promised he would do when he became a Senator. He right away started campaigning to be President. So if you think he is going to change your life for the better. YOU ARE WRONG!!! He is a liar just like the rest of them. All he did for was to get a big pay check for the rest of his life!!!!!!!!!

John McCain does not stand for bigots and racists. He is a man who has protected our country and taken care of you all. He put his life on the line for us. The truly was sincere in his speech when he lost to Obama. McCain should have been his own person through this campaign and would have probably won - but having a sympathy vote helped Obama. Next time you criticize a person who has been to hell and back, take off your rose colored glasses and take a look in the mirror and ask yourself, "what you have done for your own country." to protect us from people like Hitler, Bin Laden, Hussein. I bet you could say "NOTHING". I don't care who is running for president and who wins. The fact is they got up and tried to make this country a better place by filling an office that is not easy, because you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Jordan11 says: "Remember the change to the bankruptcy bill the CONS pushed through..." Yes I remember it well asswipe, because your boy Biden voted FOR the bill, after he and his son were paid off by MBNA (credit card). They are his biggest contributors, and gave his young son a lucrative job as a "consultant" (wink, wink). Do your research next time bozo, so you don't look like a total idiot.

To the smart ass who wonders why Barak Obama doesn't eat pork, hell, I don't eat pork either, does that make me a bad person? All you bigots, and racists out there, faceit, the man WON. He is a better man than that racist pig, McCain, and the likes of him. All of you who don't like it, move to another country.

Once again we are treated to the mentally ill communist left and their dribble. Face the facts, Obama sat in a racist church for more than 20 years, he did nothing in his political career other than being black. Gutless voters selected him for his color and nothing else. So we now have a black president who wants to add to the number of people on welfare, which is no surpirse.
