All Experts Agree: Legalize Drugs »

The case is overwhelming. But I fear that policy will not catch up with the facts any time soon. It would take a mature society to accept that some individuals may hurt, or even kill themselves, as a result of a policy change, even if the evidence suggested that fewer people died or were harmed as a result. It would take a brave government to face down the tabloid fury in the face of anecdotes about middle-class children who bought drugs legally and came to grief, and this is not a brave government.

Everyone should be aware of the fact that we are engaged in a war on drugs. A war requires a bureurocracy to fight the damn war, so we are faced with the problem of ending the employment of thousands of social parasites on the Federal, State, and local payrolls.
Face facts folks, it aint gonna stop!!!!!

Who is kidding who? Billions of dollars and tons of dope that supply all the major cities in both the U.S. and Canada come through our southern border. It requires commercial transportation on a vast scale.

Do you really think top government officials are not aware of who provides it, where it is bound, and how much of each drug is on route?

Similar to lobbyists, the drug cartels pay for the right of access. Therein lies the real reason key people in our government are opposed to legalizing it. Too many deals and too many people are paid off for their complicity.

Of course, they are the most vocal about the good 'ole drug war. They like to arrest a few "ousiders" or "freelancers" and small time operators to look good; and that is about it. It has been this way for years.

The important thing is that all people become aware of the huge sham this drug war is.I am encouraged lately.I began fighting this criminal war on Americans in the early 80's when the public was completely fooled and the Reagan lie machine had everyone living in fear.I was harassed by govt officials and police for simply speaking out with a different viewpoint and it seemed the majority of citizens agreed that legalization should not even be talked about.
I have posted many stories on propeller and I am amazed at the change in attitude of the public.I disagree with those who say it will never end,it won't end overnight but it will continue to be a slow chipping away process with more support gathering all the time.
The first bill introduced in congress in 30 years to decriminalize has just been introduced, the more people who contact their congressmen about this the more congress will begin to catch on that to support it is no longer political suicide.

At least legalize marijuana and such. I agree with most of the postings here. Decriminalize it and take the corrupt cash flows out. The privatized prison system is another social parasite. At $30,000 a head, no wonder they are targeting teenage marijuana users. It's ridiculous.

I'd like to know how all these hypocritical degenerates that have all the power and all the wrong solutions get into their positions to turn this country into such a messed up pain in the ass. I just see so much stupidity and people talking about how stupid it is. I find it unbelievable how retarded this great country is becoming. How can a bunch of morons like we have running this country right now ever get there in the first place. It blows my mind that it's become so overwhelmingly stupid.

Legalize all drugs and put the cartels/syndicates out of business. Let the states and feds get the profits. Save enforcement costs. Use the profits for education to discourage use. The incentive to get new users on drugs would disappear.
