If the majority of voters want Bob in the debates, he should be let in.
Reply
I understand that they don't just want to let people int he debates willy-nilly, but if over 50% of voters want him there, he has ballot access in more than 35 states (expected 48), and hes showing up on national polls (2-6% nationally depending on the source) then there should be a way to get him in the debates. If the Elections committee is going to require 15% in 3 national polls to get in, they should at least take in to account the public's opinion. -

The winner-take-all system we have prevents a third party from every gaining a foot hold in serious contention.

Need to change to multi-seat proportional representation districts in order to be able to grow and sustain third parties. Japan and other countries have this system. It means instead of dividing each district up based on one seat, combining districts so there are two, three, four, or even five seats. Top five vote getters get the seats in a five-seat district. Each voter could get one vote or more votes since there are multiple seats. All seats could theoretically be won by one party, but more likely than not a third legitimate party would win some seats and the majority party in congress would have to compromise in order to get their way. -

McBama Ocain are the ones with no ideas. Bob Barr is the only principled candidate in this race. A comedy would be better than the farce we have currently. Two parties? I only see one. Both are pushing for more, and more intrusive, government. The only reason Barr won't be allowed to debate is that he would show that the emperors have no clothes.

Most of the "republicans" that I know claim to be conservatives who are not really happy with Mccain as their nominee. As i often point out to them, there hasn't been a fiscal conservative in the whitehouse since before Reagan if there even is such a thing as a republican fiscal conservative. So either these guys do actually have a conservative ideology or they are looking to deny responsibility for the bush fiasco.

For what ever reason, the neocons have been courting conservatives with unfulfilled campaign promises for years with little or no results.
I say let Barr in. put up or shut up.no more excuses. If you are a conservative, vote for him. Don't allow the neocons to manipulate you any longer.
Of coarse that will split the vote and Obama will likely win but isn't it about time you guys actually demonstrated some principles. Something Bush or Mcsame rarely has done. -

Suddenly you want Barr, famous for his poor judgement and sour temper.

Why have you forsaken Ron Paul who has made constant sense (and was rewarded by being left off the polls on CNN and Fox"News" even when he was points ahead of Giuliani) or is Barr just another creepy Republican in Libertarian's clothing?
Trusting Zogby isn't such a good idea either...-

People in Texas have been watching Paul for decades. He’s always been a fringe case, He listens to his people and puts pork in a bill to appease them, then votes against said bill because of the very pork he put in the bill. Paul is just another double speak politician.

I had the privilege ofliving in Georgia for a good number of years. Matter of fact, the University of Georgia is my alma mater both for undergrad and post-graduate degrees. I'm therefore famliar with Bob Barr and stands on issues of the day.

I'm going to vote for Mr. Barr come November. He's the only candidte out there with any scruples/principles, who is not enamored with his own celebrity status, doesn't kiss up to the Clintons and who DOES understand the economy- Unlike Sens. Obama and McCain.
I further submit that if Mr. Barr were included in the upcoming presidential debates (which are really pre-staged press conferences) he would come close to winning the election- if in fact he didn't come out the victor.
:Let's not forget one other item- when part of the Clinton impeachment proceedings it was Bob Barr who kept pointing out to the turkeys in the Senate that perjury is a felony in all 50 sates and that certainly a felony was grounds to oust Slick Willie were Constitutional standards applied, which they were not. had they been applied, we would have been rid of the Clintons long ago and with them- the far left socialist agenda.
Go for it, Mr. Barr!-

"the far left socialist agenda."

Awww, the far left dreams of a balanced budget. To be fair, it was a product of clinton and congress.
Though I could care less about who is doing who, sexually speaking, Barr may not be above reproach in that regard. He has demonstrated that he is typically vulnerable to the sex bug as most elected officials seem to be.
That said, he interests me more so than Obama or McCain, but I'll still write in Paul come Nov.

All Barr or any other third party candidate can do is take votes away from one side or the other. Libertarians are not that far removed from Republican views. While differences exist there ae similarities. Therefore a vote for Barr is a vote away from the Republican nominee. A vote for Nader is a vote away from the Democrat nominee.

In the history since George Washington no third party has made a successful run for the presidency. They have only been a spoiler to one side or the other.-

As they should. Why should someone vote for a president that they do not want? Because the party tells them to?

The libers are miles away from the rep party. The trouble with the rep views is they preach one thing, but demonstratively pursue the opposite. They are liberal in almost everything they do.
Considering the many times our party system fractured into other parties, I am not so sure that your successful run comment is true. 1860 would be a perfect example.
