Tropical Storm Fay Could Hit U.S. As A Hurricane »
Posted By TimALoftis 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsAt 8 a.m. EDT, Fay was located about 35 miles west-northwest of Port Au Prince, Haiti, moving west near 14 mph. Maximum sustained winds are at 45 mph, with higher gusts. By early Sunday morning, the storm is projected to be south of Santiago, Cuba. Fay will continue westward before turning northwest and then north in reaction to the weakness of the ridge of high pressure in the Southeast. Fay is forecast to reach Category 1 hurricane strength by the time it moves over Cuba on Monday. The current forecast track has the storm potentially just off the west coast of Florida by Tuesday of next week.
