I LOVED this article! He IS a puzzlement!!
I could never agree with his positions on social services to the needy,
or our participation in even a less than perfect U.N. - but I can see more
of the person. I've never really read anything personal about Mr. Barr.
He is an interesting character - and I don't mean that in a wingnut way.

It does not appear as if we are going to have a rousing discussion on this wonderful article but it was a fine submission, Stringcheese.

I have been thinking about it all afternoon. Right off the bat - the differences I would have with Mr. Barr are substantial on social programs - to say the least. But I've been examining recent history on why our politicians change their minds. It turns out it is usually quite
self serving. They either attempt to appeal to a large block of voters, or curry favor with some deep pockets.............hence, flip-flopping.
You've got to hand it to Barr - the instances mentioned in this piece defy the current trends.
It seems he actually changed his mind on some issues because he talked it out with people of differing opinions - or he just re-thought his own stance. I mean, think about it - how big a "base" can Wiccan's have? Legalizing medical marijuana? These are minority opinions. More power to him, if he is willing to take a stance on a principal he believes in - what an unusual, but refreshing concept!!
I might not vote for him - but he'd sure be an interesting person to discuss current events with.
Most of the candidates - including my own - are so, so predictable. You know exactly what is going to come out of their mouths, even if they cut a doily edge around the
sensitive parts before they FINALLY spit it out. Barr, it seems, can be totally crackerjack - you never know what you'll find inside!
I rather like the excitement of the unexpected response!-

Agreed - Switching to the libertarian party definitely wasn't intended to increase his base of support.
And Barr is awesome, he's an extremely intelligent fast thinker, and is hilarious in a subtle and kinda silly way. Barr in the debates would be pwnage.
