Comments for After Perot's success in the '92 debates, Powers That Be decide ''Never Again!'' »
Posted By Stringcheese 1 year, 3 months ago in News" I’ve been through this before with the Perot campaign. In 1992, my candidate was included in all three presidential debates. In 1996, the opposite occurred.
What was the difference between the two runs?
After our success in ‘92, the powers that be decided that it would never happen again.
Since Ross Perot’s inclusion in the debates, no third-party or independent candidate has even come close to taking a place behind the debate podium.
And for the past 16 years, the two-major parties have been on a wildly-successful streak of keeping out competition by holding the debate stage all to themselves."

I've heard enough - unless they opt to provide some substance at some point - from McCain and Obama, but I'd sure like to see the minor parties and independents get a major media platform to make their views known. Right now, I'm thinking of voting for McKinney, provided she gets on the ballot in my state and promises not to hit me with her cell phone.

Not only to get their views known, but also to force McCain and Obama to discuss issues they would otherwise gloss over.

We need to at least another party. The democrats and repbulicans have offered nothing new to solve our problems. We cannot contnue to do the same old same old. Our government is not working for us and we had better look at different partys that offer novel ways of doing things

I'm very glad the posts here are for another candidate besides our stodgy elephant and green donkey. It may be nice to see McCain or Obama hear another view. You're so correct Harbeas, our government isn't working as well as it should be for us.

Barr should definitely be on any debate. Otherwise these two will control the content of the debate and we all know the media will go along like sheep in being sure not to embarrass anyone with a sticky question. All going towards a loss for the American voters. These debates are only going through the motions to dupe us into believing we are in a democracy.
