Good story though!
I wonder how many male propellerites are going to be giving their partners some surprise news - and of those how many will survive INTACT to give us feedback regarding the response?
Maybe I'll try it on my gf today as we're going for a little drive.

I don't know if it would be called polygamy. Humans (and all of the great apes) are naturally more likely to have more than one mate at any one time. This goes more for the male of the species than the female, but that is an evolutionary strategy, not a social one.

From an evolutionary standpoint it makes more sense to have a larger core family unit than just one father and one mother. For instance, is a child more or less likely to continue on the family line if the only father dies? This would be less likely in general.
