Close - I was 13. My mother and my cousin both worked at Autonetics
out in Anaheim. I well remember them coming home later than usual
because they went shopping together for supplies. They were pooling
their knowledge on what we should have on-hand..........if.
Water - canned goods - medical supplies.
It almost seems naive - to think any of the stuff in the boxes on
our kitchen table would have helped us, if the worst scenario had
actually taken place. Might as well get under a desk and cover
your heads! If something were to start now - using nukes?
My best advice would be to kiss your posterior goodbye.

You know - I say that with all the cynicism I mentioned above
in my reply to bubba2. So this old 59 year old will kiss off sooner
than expected. But then I think about my husband - my CHILD -
my pets..................ALL those things that I have accepted some
responsibility for their welfare for - that I love and care for and
won't be ABLE to protect. What God-awful fate might await them?
Don't these bastards have children and grandchildren - don't
they LOVE anybody? NOTHING will protect any of us if it starts.
They must not let it begin - there is no such thing as a little war
in this 21st Century - not if they use nukes.

Very true AnteUp, scary as hell too.

I guess people in panic think of what may be the most necessary in the event of rationing, which was probably why your Mom stocked up on things. I was lucky there, i was raised on a farm and we raised our own fruit and veggies, and my Mom canned everything. We always had more than enough, and shared with neighbors too. Not many people do that anymore, too busy looking out for number one!

No Ante, i don't think they do love anyone or anything but money. ALL of the world's leaders are greedy grubbing pigs, and they are all power hungry. For some reason i believe they think their money will keep them safe, and if they blow up the country, they will just move to land they own in another country, and screw it up too, ASAP!

I was there, we would go into the hall and get down on the floor with our hands over our heads, as if would have made any difference.
