  Yeah but - Spade, didn't anybody ever make it clear to them that
  they CANNOT take it with them? What is the worth of their ideals if
  the Earth and all it's peoples are nothing but a smoking cinder in
  the cosmos? Who the _________ are they going to brag to??

    I hear ya.
    
    LOL..I didn't say it was smart or worth it;most addictions and escapes are not.
    
    These are unhappy people driven by misguided instincts and who have long since sold themselves and their loved ones out.
    
    Just like the drug addict who gets a fix, they live for the fleeting high that power and triumph over others brings them. But after that, they are lost and lonely people who feel empty on the inside and must find something to fill that void inside. If they weren't so hateful, it would be easy to pity them.

      Oh, this will probably get bleeped for sure but the image of
      Cheney having a tent in his trousers while pushing "THE" button? I can see that. He's had a hard on to do that for YEARS.
      I think the man dreams of mushroom shaped clouds.
      
      But there are so many YOUNG men and women who have been swept up in worshipping the Neocon ideology. Are they so very certain of the promise - or I guess they feel, the actuality - of our superiority,that they have not envisioned the possible down-side for their equally young spouses or children? Did they not study History? Usually someone wins AND someone loses. They never
      contemplated the improbable outcome - like we might lose? Never crosses their well-educated minds that THIS time maybe
      we ALL could lose? I fairly well thrive on doubt - what new breed is this that can be SO certain?

        Arrogance has been around since the beginning of humanity, but in recent years it has become a deity in itelf. Some people worship the arrogant and strive to emulate what they think is success. As for those of us who are so self deceieved, a rude awakening awaits.
