It appears that what we (this administration) are doing is forcing
someone - who just recently morphed from "soul mate" to enemy -
    into a CORNER.
Anybody ever seen a cornered rat? They do not wave a white flag -
they FIGHT. Our leaders are poking and prodding and cornering a
dangerous adversary BY CHOICE - it is NOT absolutely necessary
right now. This conflict is contrived. But WHY? I just find it so hard
to believe that any sane person would WANT war. And I do mean
WANT - our foreign policy has been conducted no differently than
going out and beating the bushes LOOKING for one.
Trying to get involved in conflict and war? Does that sound sane?

"I just find it so hard to believe that any sane person would WANT war."

Are they insane then? There are many people whose livelihoods depend on war. The military-industrial complex is huge. I think an actual accounting of the number of Americans who depend on war for their survival would be truly frightening. In some way, each and every one of those Americans must want war. It's the only way they can feed their children. From those who assemble weapons in arms manufacturing plants, to soldiers, to army engineers, to generals, millions of people DEPEND on discord in the world to put food on the table.

I think the BEST that could be done would be to stop growth of the MI complex, such that those who depend on it wouldn't be (pardon the expression) up in arms against the changes. That still leaves one whole heck of a lot of people to employ if the unnecessary wars were to end.

I think they should, and for the time being, those people should go on getting a decent severage package for some time -- but American taxpayers would be furious about paying for a military that doesn't do anything (even if not doing anything is actually cheaper and morally preferable).

You need a government who really don't care about ******* all over public opinion in order to make some of the changes necessary (the same arguments could be made for the Health Insurance industry). No one has had that kind of cajones in a long time -- and I imagine if someone did, some fringe lunatic (or hired assassin) would take that brave politician out of the picture in very short order.

Does it sound sane? No. It has the cold logic (placing no value on human life) that Hitler used and that Hannibal Lecter used.

Normal people consider murder to be an act of insanity. But I do believe it is cold, and calculating, premeditated... so in a criminal defense sense: these people are all too sane.

          I'd say they are certifiable!
These are not stupid people when it comes to the WAYS of war
          and weaponry.

And history tells us that almost anything can be an instrument of war - from rocks, crossbows, boiling oil, catapults - or moving forward (?)
on the March of Mankind - to Gatling guns, shoulder held rocket launchers, helicopter gunships, flame-throwers and ALL the other implements that this good earth and the MIC can offer us. They have been employed without pause or hesitation for centuries. Some die
and some will survive in misery to the end of their days, and some remain unscathed and completely capable of launching yet another
war in due time. On and on.
These brilliant people must also be aware that the introduction
of nuclear weapons into the world's arsenal - could render us
incapable of launching the next war. Their good times of "the build-up",
engaging the enemy, winning the war - and then the Peace - the
cycles of activity they have grown accustomed to - could actually END.
As in global finality. Have they not heard of "mutually assured destruction"? It was coined specifically for this nuclear age.
Hell of a business if your ultimate success is your own destruction.
          Yes.....................that IS crazy!
