Begin with a beautiful ceremony at the ancient ruins of St. Mary’s chapel set in the sultry botanical gardens of Mbweni. After champagne and toasts on the jetty, a fleet of white sailed, Arabic dhows will come to take the wedding party around the coast to Mtoni, to enjoy lavish celebrations into the night.

WEDDING ITINERARY:
• The wedding guests gather at Mcheza Sports Café at Mtoni Marine.
• From here they board a traditional “gari ya shamba” dala dala, beautifully decorated with palm fronds, draped netting and local flowers and make their way to Mbweni Ruins through the streets of historic Stone Town. The cheering of the local crowds set the mood for celebrations ahead.
• Arriving at Mbweni Ruins, the guests will walk through the tropical palm gardens to the stunningly decorated ruins of St. Mary’s Chapel. They will be served water and juice as refreshments.
• The groom and guests await the arrival of the bride, amidst the majesty of Zanzibar’s legacy.
• The bride arrives, accompanied by the soulful sounds of jazz duo Seca Sound and the ceremony takes place. During the ceremony, a 20 strong Swahili choir sings, rejoicing the union in Kiswahili.
• After the ceremony, a glass of Champagnoise is served to toast and congratulate the wedding couple while the choir sings fortissimo!
• Guests slowly make their way down to the beach through the botanical gardens for which Mbweni is famous. On the jetty, sushi and market style finger food is served and an optional open bar is available. On the deck Seca Sound provides the background music.
• Guests walk down the long jetty, past the mangroves, where they board authentic dhows and sail towards Stone Town. The Bridal dhow is accompanied by the sound of live African jazz music. mbweni dhow mtoni zanzibar wedding package
mbweni ruins dhow mtoni zanzibar wedding package • The sails are hoisted, the ‘kusi’ winds fill the canvas and push north past Stone Town bay and past the old Dhow harbour. Embrace the sunset overlooking Bawe and Prison Island and celebrate the union while sipping sundowners.
• Destination, Mtoni Marine Restaurant; from afar you can see the bonfires on the beach.
• Disembarking the dhows on the white sands of Beit il Mtoni, the wedding party is welcomed with the festive sight and sounds of African Ngoma Drummers and Dancers.
• The party is seated at candlelit tables, on the beach front which is naturally lit with burning torches, lanterns and open bonfires.
• Wine and dine to the live music of the traditional Bashraf Orchestra, then dance into the night to the Islanders Band.
• The Restaurant is closed for your privacy.
