"The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been announced, said it includes an American demand that the United States retains exclusive legal jurisdiction over its troops in Iraq."

"Also worked out by negotiators is a companion agreement known as a strategic framework agreement. The official said that Washington has approved it but it still is subject to final approval in Baghdad. That agreement covers a range of political, economic and security relationships between the United States and Iraq."

They've got to get this agreement, even if they must promise a timetable for "withdrawal": they cannot trust the next President to get us the same deal.

It seems like every day Bush and McSame are embracing with open arms the policies that Barack Obama espoused months ago. Interesting, though, that they ridiculed them when Obama suggested them. Not surprising.

The Iraqi's have repeatedly demanded that we get out of their country. McSame was talking about staying there a hundred years. Barry says he will get us out, and suddenly the republicons are negotiating. Who is the leader, and who are the followers.

We'll see. I'm a little cynical about this whole deal.

Of course, it's probably because I'm jaded from all the BS of the past 8 years.

          alright you libs....

our UN mandate to go in an clean house expires in December. we wanted to have the forces agreement in place so that we wouldn't be leaving the iraq democracy in the lurch to them spin back into civil war.

i snicker when i see BOs current advertisement talking about a responsible withdrawal.

its isn't cutting and running if its mission accomplished. and yet, even with victory in our grasp, Barry still wants to stay out in front of the parade by denigrating the situation to make political hay. that's not leadership.. that's vacuousness.

let it go you liberal losers.

"The improved security in Iraq allows us to have conversations with the Iraqis about setting goals for more American troops to come home and for the Iraqis to take the lead in more combat missions," White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said. "Any dates in an agreement will be based on conditions on the ground because we do not want to lose the hard-fought gains of the surge."

I just hope that the Iraqi government can get it together enough for us to get our troops out as soon as `possible. You're right, tchef, we're fighting the wrong war--and for what?

Cool, I want Iraq to start taking care of herself, their freedom has come at a very large cost in many ways and I think most people are weary of the war.

I hope they can handle things after the switch.

its not a switch, its a transition. after 6/09, our guys would be serving as back up to iraq's own forces. the other job that we'd be doing is supporting training during the growth of iraq to a country that doesn't need us there to pick up.

this is a good thing for them and a good thing for us..
