A flake is not only a screwup, but someone who truly excels in making bizarre errors and creating incredibly convoluted disasters.A flake is a "fool with energy", as the Russian proverb puts it. ("A fool is a terrible thing to have around, but a fool with energy is a nightmare".)

Barack Obama is a flake, and the American people have begun to see it.

  Just the latest Repugnant Con tactic. Spin and lie, spin and lie while Rome burns. Considering how many of Obama's tactics regarding Iraq, the economy, world policy, diplomacy and US law Bush and his cronies have been embracing lately, Barack Obama's already running the country.

      Oldone, the US system is NOT the best healthcare system in the world. It may be able to achieve the best results SOME of the time, but for a system to be considered the best, it needs to be consistent in achieving good results, something the US system severely lacks is consistency.
      
      Arrogant and short sighted position on the Iraq war? How about, "we'll be in and out and it'll only cost 60 Billion?" How about firing the guy who told you that was not plausible. Who was arrogant and short-sighted there?
      
      How about "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran"? Can you tell me that making a statement like this is anything but arrogant and short-sighted? Even if ultimately necessary, singing and dancing about a possible military campaign that WILL kill innocent Iranians is not far-sighted. At the least, Iranians all hate him. In the middle, he paints a target on himself as someone for an Iranian to try to assassinate. At worst, he paints a target on the US, pitting Iranians (formerly fairly pro-american) against us in animosity that could easily have been prevented.

        I remember that on 9/11. It was one of the best remarks I have ever heard him make. If you think about it, Obama has always been given accolades on his speaking abilities, but when you compare both candidates communication abilities, even Obamas big speech at the democratic convention, none of them carry the same weight as McCains did that day. And I don't think it was because of what happened on 9/11, it was because he was talking from his heart, about a subject that he truly believes in with an undieing conviction. McCain actually meant every word he said and was not just spewing out something that has been written for him. That's the McCain that showed up last weekend.

        According to the World Health Organization (which I imagine is just about to come in for a bit of a drubbing on this string) France has the best health care system in the world.
        Before you scoff, have you ever been sick in France? Yeah, me neither, so I wouldn't actually know about their health care system, nor do I have personal knowledge of the health care system in Italy, but they're rated better than us too. A LOT better. As are San Marino, Andorra, Malta, Singapore, Spain, Oman, Austria, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Monaco, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Colombia, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Morocco, Canada, Finland, Australia, Chile, Denmark, Dominica and Costa Rica.
        
        Hey, but at least we're better than Slovenia. That's nice. :)

        Thanks ind... I think that's a pretty decent list. I think if the US were ranked among the top 5, there could be a reasonable argument that they really were the best and the rankings were off. When it's that far down, you have to wonder.

        From both ratings system, you admit that the US falls far from the top in terms of health care, so why did you say it was the best system in the world?

        I haven't cherry-picked. This thread on health-care was a direct result of your comment that Obama wanted to "take the best healthcare system in the world and hand it over the the Government to run".
        
        I pointed out that the US system was not the best in the world, and by extension, that maybe it could use a little bit of revamping.
        
        You ask "Who is better qualified to judge healthcare systems: public health experts or the people who use healthcare?"
        
        The answer that is perhaps not so OBVIOUS but is ultimately more CORRECT is that public health experts are, since they know a whole lot more about OTHER systems of healthcare than the public, which has likely been exposed only to the one system for their entire lives.
        
        But let's assume that the people who use healthcare are better qualified. Under public satisfaction (the users of healthcare) the US ranked 14th. 14th is better than 17th, but it is FAR from "the best".

      "The Drilling Issue"
      
      Oil companies already hold leases on 63 million acres of land they're not exploring or drilling. Perhaps they should drill those before demanding our national parks and oceans?
      
      Even drilling ANWR and *every single other site*, according to the government's own study, would have the impact of only a few pennies on the price of every barrel of oil. An increase of 1/10th of 1% of the oil in the world will not impact the price of oil.
      
      Seems like Obama's on the right side of 'the drilling issue' and McSame's just repeating the constant flow of lies from the Repugnant Cons.
