There is much to like about cayenne pepper. It also works well for sore throats, and at the onset of colds. Great in chicken soup in the winter too!

In a 4-week double blind study of 70 patients with osteoarthritis, and 31 with rheumatoid arthritis, it was concluded that capsaicin cream is a safe and effective treatment for arthritis.
Another double blind study suggest that capsaicin is a safe and potentially useful treatment for painful osteoarthritis of the hands."

I use capsaicin cream but you have to be careful not to get it any where near your eyes. It's also very hard to wash off your hands, I use plastic gloves to apply it, so I wonder about using it on your hands. It works great and it will heat you up real good, it eases out the pain and it lasts for awhile. You don't want to use too much, it can blister, and some people are allergic to capsaicin.

        Note to self :
As always you should always wash your hands after using the restroom but when working with hot peppers

it will pay to be very diligent about washing before also.

        Take my word for it.
        @&#% habaneros anyway

AMEN, to that. Once your eyes or other body parts are lit up with hot pepper stuff, you'll remember to wash good the next time, that's for sure. lol

Unfortunately washing once or even twice isn't always good enough depending on what you were handling.
I learned that one the hard way too.

I read another article, not too long ago, in it the author said that eating any hot, spicy food elevated your body's metabolism by raising both heart and breathing rates. This would include Mexican, Thai, Indian and the Szechuan cuisines of Chinese food.

I was once advised to take the capsule form, and I started having unplanned, heavy, female bleeding. As soon as I stopped, the effect abated. Be careful with this stuff. And be very careful with the cream, because it will burn eyes, mucous membranes, and tender areas. I only put it on with a Q-tip when I've used it and made sure I put it in trash that kids and pets cannot access.
