Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview Wednesday that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own. " I think - I'll have my staff get to you," McCain told Politico in Las Cruces, N.M. " It's condominiums where - I'll have them get to you." His staff is reporting at least four. Newsweek is claiming seven and McCain does not even know.

amazing...if this had been asked during a live debate with 40 million people/voters watching and McCain's response was 'I don't Know...I will get back with you...his candidacy would be in some deep trouble.

Something tells me though, that even if this had happened during a live debate, nothing would deter the people who are going to vote for mccain, for voting for mccain. They don't care that he can't remember how many houses he has, you see, it's "uniquely american...idin it?"

This is also the man (from a privileged background) trying to paint Obama's family (who WORKED their way up and own ONE house) as filthy rich, out of touch with Americans and the average American.
I'm an average American and I'm fairly sure I can count the number of house(s) I own. I have a feeling most average Americans can count the number of houses their bank owns in their name. Or their (typically Repugnant Con and dishonest) landlord owns. -

His wife has real estate and houses she inherited and John McCain could care less. She takes care of the finances. He is not worried about her stuff. So he doesn't keep track of it. What is so hard to understand about that. They use three of them and some of their children are using some but others are just rented out. One was used to let someone live in for a while who lost their home. That was in the news.

Such an answer would be and is problematic only for those who think everyone owns one home and maybe a condo at the beach and that the question to is as straightforward as "how many homes do you own AND use," When you have multiple trusts, trustees, officers, legal firms, and legal entities of various kinds, plus turnover of personnel combined with even a modest pattern of buying and selling, then the response is never going to be straightforward.
McCain's response ought to have been, "Define 'own'" followed closely by, "I'll get back to you on that."
This is a non-issue just as it would have been a non-issue had Kerry been asked how many homes he owns. -

Well if anyone asked how many houses do I have, I'd have to say I used to have three but now only have two after I tore down the metal shed in the back. And besides my regular abode I also have an animal shelter out back. lol.

How the heck can you LOVE America if you can't jet up to Aspen and sit in front of a roaring fire in your skii lodge? What truth is there in 'the purple mountain majesties' if you don't have a hunting lodge somewhere high and lonely?

2) If you were in the Navy for 22 years and have been in Congress for 24 years why do you know so little about domestic issues?
3) If you believe that life begins at conception, how can you support stem cell research?

Maybe it was nothing more than a 'Senior' moment...but its true, the average person to include the average rich guy would know the number of homes that they own. Senator McCain gave the worst possible answer. John McCain can only be thankful that this interview was not on video tape. I would think Politico has a audio though.

The convicted felon referred to here is Tony Rezko, who played a role in helping Obama expand the $1.65 million mansion Obama purchased $300,000 below the list price on Chicago’s South Side in 2005. Rezko's sister, Rita, coincidentally purchased land adjacent to the Obama's property on the same day, at the full list price, and later sold a parcel of it to the Obama's which made the Obama's yard bigger.
Before Obama bought the house he had assisted Rezko in securing millions of tax dollars for housing developments as an Illinois state legislator.
Rezko was convicted on 16 of 24 federal corruption counts earlier this year. The charges were unrelated to Obama, but drew attention to Obama’s cozy relationship with the felon. Obama told the press his decision to become involved with Rezko “a boneheaded move.”
Going after McCain on this is a boneheaded move as well.-

Cindy has said time and again that she is an only child. but she's not. she has a half sister.
cindy's father left cindy's mother for another woman (just like how john left his first wife for cindy). together, they had a daughter, who is Cindy McCain's sister.

However, the question of him being unsure is a different matter altogether. It suggests one of the following:
1. He does not take care of his personal finances; others do it for him. This means the man probably is not able to be a capable President on the economic front.
2. He forgot. This suggests he has issues with remembering things as simple as how many houses you own. -

Obama can't remember how many state there are? Please, lets just be honest here. McCain was probably rushed and, because of this, didn't have time to think of how many houses he had. It wasn't on his mind at the time. Obama, similarly, misspoke. He clearly meant to say 47. It makes for funny jokes, but for a serious campaign issue? I doubt it... McCain, similarly, though if he still can't figure it out if asked again, we might have to look into reasons why he doesn't know.

I think McCain has no idea how many holdings he and his wife may have at this point in time. His wife very well could own several properties John McCain knows nothing about from a day to day point of view. If he had said..." I own three houses." and it turned out that via his wifes holdings it was more there would still be a firestorm.-

If the McCain's house is so divided that he doesn't even know what's going on, then i don't want him in control of what's going on in this country. He must know what's going on in his own home first and foremost, before he can even begin to lead a this whole nation.
