Comments for McCain Unsure How Many Houses He Owns »
Posted By TimALoftis 1 year, 2 months ago in NewsSen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview Wednesday that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own. " I think - I'll have my staff get to you," McCain told Politico in Las Cruces, N.M. " It's condominiums where - I'll have them get to you." His staff is reporting at least four. Newsweek is claiming seven and McCain does not even know.

Something tells me though, that even if this had happened during a live debate, nothing would deter the people who are going to vote for mccain, for voting for mccain. They don't care that he can't remember how many houses he has, you see, it's "uniquely american...idin it?"

@Protoham. It's news worthy because McCain, a guy who is so rich and out of touch with not only America, but his own life, that can't even recall how many homes he owns. Has spent the last few months trying to paint Obama as a rich elitist who is out of touch with America.

The side that got his houses without shady deals with Rezko type criminals; unlike Obama. Some here seem to think McCain is the only RICH one here and that Obama is some kind of working class stiff that feels our pain. At least we realize Obama is some of the same PRETENDING to be one of us! We also realize there is a HUGE difference between Obama's Character and McCain's which is why we want McCain

The poor judgment was the fact that McCain hesitantly went to the meeting, but when he found out what it FULLY was about he DENIED Keating any help THAT is why he was exonerated even the poor judgment charge is weak. Being there put McCain in a position where he looked guilty by association, but as investigation showed he gave Keatiing NO special favors! Now 3 of the 4 Democrats present did get convicted for granting special favors to Keating.
Therefore John Glen and John McCain are the only ones who resisted the temptation that was presented. Those 2 were only guilty of hearing Keating out!

So which one of these two candidates is not rich? I don't see a difference on that point. And when you look at the presidents for the past 50 years, which ones were not millionaires. This is a non story.

But you see protoham, that's just it. Everything in MY life is fine. I make damn good money (enough for my wife to be able to be a stay at home mom and home school our children) and have full health care for me, my wife AND my 4 children. I wish everyone could have these options open to them.
I paid over $12000 in taxes last year, which is not just a drop in the bucket for me. Think I wanted ANY of it to fund the war in Iraq or Afghanistan? Not only no, but hell no. I'd rather help fund universal health care or do something about poverty in our country.
There is something called the greater good and THAT's what I want to be a part of. Does that make me a liberal? Does that make me a good person? Does that make me a sick SOB? Who cares? It's what I want.

This is also the man (from a privileged background) trying to paint Obama's family (who WORKED their way up and own ONE house) as filthy rich, out of touch with Americans and the average American.
I'm an average American and I'm fairly sure I can count the number of house(s) I own. I have a feeling most average Americans can count the number of houses their bank owns in their name. Or their (typically Repugnant Con and dishonest) landlord owns.-

It never ceases to amaze me how simple minded liberals have become. A man that is a true patriot versus a truly unamerican opponent. Ties to extreme leftists and those whom are embarrassed to be an American, vs a proud American willing to develop ALL of our resources and unwilling to weaken our military like Obama will do!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with you liberals. Its funny, because as a former liberal educated is New England, I realized that liberalism is all about handouts and jealousy of those that have become successful. They can't stand to see success and abundance and should look in the mirror at their own shortcommings! Obama would be a disaster for anyone that owns a business! Liberals should know that if their bosses are squeezed by taxes they will either lay off workers or raise prices. Who does that help?
Reply
Obama can't even pay his handout college loans ontime and you liberals want more government. I suppose you'll put it on my tab and others who have worked hard to become successful. Just remember the consequences!-

So, if I understand you perfectly, "being an American (US that is)" means:
Reply
Having the best, or, at least the biggest army in the world (US spends as much on military as the rest of the world put together).
As a consequence, not spending enough money on healthcare so every one, rich, high middleclass, low middleclass and poor, can have a decent and complete healthcare.
Even tough the US was the leading (and originating) force behind "universal human rights" and international laws, and laws against torture and mishandling of war prisoners (actually, I thought those things were typically American), being American NOW means "f*-k those rules.
Being American also means, WE can invade, even under false pretences, but the other, even after repeated provocation, and with actually some good reasons, can not attack nor invade.
Being American means: we don't have to save energy, drive smaller cars, have a more ecological industry as a first and better solution. We'll just produce more energy (and f**k the environment and the rest of the world..... we are the MASTERS)
Being American means "f**k the poor", it's their fault anyway.
It means ”We, Americans are always the best and are always right". Rules are for the others, not for us......
So, that's being American according to you and McCain????-

But seriously, how come so many "americans" think that way?
I do travel a lot to the States. Know quite some people overthere. Find the americans on the whole (usualy) very friendly, open AND helpfull.
But, when it comes to politics (national and international) they often make me wonder.....
It some times looks like they're brainwashed.
And don't tell me ALL republicans are "rich people". A lot of "poors" also are republicans.
Americans are "strange" people: They can be great (love to go there) and at the same time can be so "naive" over the world and seemingly so egocentric (e.g. ecology). They're often at the start of great things (e.g. human rights, help people in crisis) and then forget about it.....

His wife has real estate and houses she inherited and John McCain could care less. She takes care of the finances. He is not worried about her stuff. So he doesn't keep track of it. What is so hard to understand about that. They use three of them and some of their children are using some but others are just rented out. One was used to let someone live in for a while who lost their home. That was in the news.

How do you and/or your parents divide up responsibility around the house. Does the man of the house keep the wife under his thumb or do they work as equals dividing up the responsibilities. Such an answer would be and is problematic only for those who think everyone owns one home and maybe a condo at the beach and that the question to is as straightforward as "how many homes do you own AND use," When you have multiple trusts, trustees, officers, legal firms, and legal entities of various kinds, plus turnover of personnel combined with even a modest pattern of buying and selling, then the response is never going to be straightforward.
McCain's response ought to have been, "Define 'own'" followed closely by, "I'll get back to you on that."
This is a non-issue just as it would have been a non-issue had Kerry been asked how many homes he owns. -

“Does a guy (Obama) who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?”
Reply
The convicted felon referred to here is Tony Rezko, who played a role in helping Obama expand the $1.65 million mansion Obama purchased $300,000 below the list price on Chicago’s South Side in 2005. Rezko's sister, Rita, coincidentally purchased land adjacent to the Obama's property on the same day, at the full list price, and later sold a parcel of it to the Obama's which made the Obama's yard bigger.
Before Obama bought the house he had assisted Rezko in securing millions of tax dollars for housing developments as an Illinois state legislator.
Rezko was convicted on 16 of 24 federal corruption counts earlier this year. The charges were unrelated to Obama, but drew attention to Obama’s cozy relationship with the felon. Obama told the press his decision to become involved with Rezko “a boneheaded move.”
Going after McCain on this is a boneheaded move as well.-
