Comments for McCain Unsure How Many Houses He Owns »
Posted By TimALoftis 1 year, 3 months ago in NewsSen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview Wednesday that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own. " I think - I'll have my staff get to you," McCain told Politico in Las Cruces, N.M. " It's condominiums where - I'll have them get to you." His staff is reporting at least four. Newsweek is claiming seven and McCain does not even know.

Something tells me though, that even if this had happened during a live debate, nothing would deter the people who are going to vote for mccain, for voting for mccain. They don't care that he can't remember how many houses he has, you see, it's "uniquely american...idin it?"

@Protoham. It's news worthy because McCain, a guy who is so rich and out of touch with not only America, but his own life, that can't even recall how many homes he owns. Has spent the last few months trying to paint Obama as a rich elitist who is out of touch with America.

The side that got his houses without shady deals with Rezko type criminals; unlike Obama. Some here seem to think McCain is the only RICH one here and that Obama is some kind of working class stiff that feels our pain. At least we realize Obama is some of the same PRETENDING to be one of us! We also realize there is a HUGE difference between Obama's Character and McCain's which is why we want McCain

The poor judgment was the fact that McCain hesitantly went to the meeting, but when he found out what it FULLY was about he DENIED Keating any help THAT is why he was exonerated even the poor judgment charge is weak. Being there put McCain in a position where he looked guilty by association, but as investigation showed he gave Keatiing NO special favors! Now 3 of the 4 Democrats present did get convicted for granting special favors to Keating.
Therefore John Glen and John McCain are the only ones who resisted the temptation that was presented. Those 2 were only guilty of hearing Keating out!

But you see protoham, that's just it. Everything in MY life is fine. I make damn good money (enough for my wife to be able to be a stay at home mom and home school our children) and have full health care for me, my wife AND my 4 children. I wish everyone could have these options open to them.
I paid over $12000 in taxes last year, which is not just a drop in the bucket for me. Think I wanted ANY of it to fund the war in Iraq or Afghanistan? Not only no, but hell no. I'd rather help fund universal health care or do something about poverty in our country.
There is something called the greater good and THAT's what I want to be a part of. Does that make me a liberal? Does that make me a good person? Does that make me a sick SOB? Who cares? It's what I want.

This is also the man (from a privileged background) trying to paint Obama's family (who WORKED their way up and own ONE house) as filthy rich, out of touch with Americans and the average American.
I'm an average American and I'm fairly sure I can count the number of house(s) I own. I have a feeling most average Americans can count the number of houses their bank owns in their name. Or their (typically Repugnant Con and dishonest) landlord owns.-

It never ceases to amaze me how simple minded liberals have become. A man that is a true patriot versus a truly unamerican opponent. Ties to extreme leftists and those whom are embarrassed to be an American, vs a proud American willing to develop ALL of our resources and unwilling to weaken our military like Obama will do!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with you liberals. Its funny, because as a former liberal educated is New England, I realized that liberalism is all about handouts and jealousy of those that have become successful. They can't stand to see success and abundance and should look in the mirror at their own shortcommings! Obama would be a disaster for anyone that owns a business! Liberals should know that if their bosses are squeezed by taxes they will either lay off workers or raise prices. Who does that help?
Reply
Obama can't even pay his handout college loans ontime and you liberals want more government. I suppose you'll put it on my tab and others who have worked hard to become successful. Just remember the consequences!-

So, if I understand you perfectly, "being an American (US that is)" means:
Reply
Having the best, or, at least the biggest army in the world (US spends as much on military as the rest of the world put together).
As a consequence, not spending enough money on healthcare so every one, rich, high middleclass, low middleclass and poor, can have a decent and complete healthcare.
Even tough the US was the leading (and originating) force behind "universal human rights" and international laws, and laws against torture and mishandling of war prisoners (actually, I thought those things were typically American), being American NOW means "f*-k those rules.
Being American also means, WE can invade, even under false pretences, but the other, even after repeated provocation, and with actually some good reasons, can not attack nor invade.
Being American means: we don't have to save energy, drive smaller cars, have a more ecological industry as a first and better solution. We'll just produce more energy (and f**k the environment and the rest of the world..... we are the MASTERS)
Being American means "f**k the poor", it's their fault anyway.
It means ”We, Americans are always the best and are always right". Rules are for the others, not for us......
So, that's being American according to you and McCain????-

But seriously, how come so many "americans" think that way?
I do travel a lot to the States. Know quite some people overthere. Find the americans on the whole (usualy) very friendly, open AND helpfull.
But, when it comes to politics (national and international) they often make me wonder.....
It some times looks like they're brainwashed.
And don't tell me ALL republicans are "rich people". A lot of "poors" also are republicans.
Americans are "strange" people: They can be great (love to go there) and at the same time can be so "naive" over the world and seemingly so egocentric (e.g. ecology). They're often at the start of great things (e.g. human rights, help people in crisis) and then forget about it.....

His wife has real estate and houses she inherited and John McCain could care less. She takes care of the finances. He is not worried about her stuff. So he doesn't keep track of it. What is so hard to understand about that. They use three of them and some of their children are using some but others are just rented out. One was used to let someone live in for a while who lost their home. That was in the news.

Such an answer would be and is problematic only for those who think everyone owns one home and maybe a condo at the beach and that the question to is as straightforward as "how many homes do you own AND use," When you have multiple trusts, trustees, officers, legal firms, and legal entities of various kinds, plus turnover of personnel combined with even a modest pattern of buying and selling, then the response is never going to be straightforward.
McCain's response ought to have been, "Define 'own'" followed closely by, "I'll get back to you on that."
This is a non-issue just as it would have been a non-issue had Kerry been asked how many homes he owns. -

“Does a guy (Obama) who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?”
Reply
The convicted felon referred to here is Tony Rezko, who played a role in helping Obama expand the $1.65 million mansion Obama purchased $300,000 below the list price on Chicago’s South Side in 2005. Rezko's sister, Rita, coincidentally purchased land adjacent to the Obama's property on the same day, at the full list price, and later sold a parcel of it to the Obama's which made the Obama's yard bigger.
Before Obama bought the house he had assisted Rezko in securing millions of tax dollars for housing developments as an Illinois state legislator.
Rezko was convicted on 16 of 24 federal corruption counts earlier this year. The charges were unrelated to Obama, but drew attention to Obama’s cozy relationship with the felon. Obama told the press his decision to become involved with Rezko “a boneheaded move.”
Going after McCain on this is a boneheaded move as well.-

Thanks CRYMTPHON. How can we trust a man who cared nothing for his own family? A man who was willing to walk off from a woman who waited faithfully for him for over 5 years, who had nothing for herself and her children?? H.Ross Perot paid her medical bills and took care of her finances while McCain was a POW, and now Perot speaks out against McCain at every opportunity. Where was McCains family during that time? Why didn't they help Carol. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

It is not a speaking error, or a mistake attributable to tiredness.
He was given time; he reflected, searched for the answer and just did not know.
And even the media can not come up with a sure count yet.
The man is not from our America.

I don't beleive what I posted is off topic.

This thread is about our presidential candidate JOHN McCain SAYING A STUPID THING. What I posted is about our other dumb azz candidate Obama, saying a really stupid thing. Besides, I'll bet ya if I did submit the Obama story, it would not be posted here. Or the story has already been submitted and was never posted the first time for more then a couple minutes at most.-

Just as I figured, the Obama and the 57 States comment was submitted here at Propeller, but it appears the story was dumped from Propeller with in about 10 seconds. There was only ONE comment on the story!

It is strange.

In 2004, with Bush running against Kerry, I did not think it possible for all the liars in the world, to keep the truth from the american people: purple-heart veteran war hero here, chicken-hawke draft dodger there.
But they waved the flag like a magician waving his wand, and 'poof' Bush looked like a patriot; the warrior with shrapnel looked weak.
Can they actualy paint Obama as a rich elitist, and John McCain as a working man?

Who cares how many houses he owns?
Reply
However, the question of him being unsure is a different matter altogether. It suggests one of the following:
1. He does not take care of his personal finances; others do it for him. This means the man probably is not able to be a capable President on the economic front.
2. He forgot. This suggests he has issues with remembering things as simple as how many houses you own. -

I think McCain has no idea how many holdings he and his wife may have at this point in time. His wife very well could own several properties John McCain knows nothing about from a day to day point of view. If he had said..." I own three houses." and it turned out that via his wifes holdings it was more there would still be a firestorm.-

That's nothing more than a cop out, but since you said it.... If the McCain's house is so divided that he doesn't even know what's going on, then i don't want him in control of what's going on in this country. He must know what's going on in his own home first and foremost, before he can even begin to lead a this whole nation.

Sure he doesn't know anything, his wife owns everything anyway. And look at that dazed look in his eyes when he's asked anything, he's not even sure where he IS anymore. Why not just put him in the oldster's home, paint it white and TELL him he's president!

First of all why were they asking that question? It's all part of the liberal media's game to make him look bad because he's doing so well. Why didn't they ask his wife if they really needed to know. That's her department, he has better things to keep tract of. I don't care how many homes he has as long as he got them honestly and not like Obama did with the help of Tony Rezkco.

What worries me about the whole thing is McCain wants to run this country. I thinking this takes a whole lot of focus. If he wanted to show how much focus he has would he not at least for campaign reasons be briefed on an issue such as this? It goes to show a lack of attention to detail I think needs to be present in our President.
Reply
If indeed he wishes to be our President then he really should have a better idea just what is going on in his own house.
I would say the gist of this is to say to McCain, don't tell me how you will run my country when you don't even know how your own house hold is operating.
The man has no business trying to run a nation. He has trouble with talking about countries that do not exist anymore. It's like his brain is stuck in the last century. Or maybe he just hasn't realized we have been in the twenty-first century for some years now.
Yes Johnnie we have the internets and the E-mails. We even have the google and stuff. It's simply amazing.
The fact is that John McCain is an old school warrior who had a hell of a time in prison camp. This does mean he is fit to be president. My father was an old time Marine who got shot all to hell in the Pacific War and he was not fit to be president just because of that. That means McCain's claim that being an abused prisioner doesn't hold up either. He has to stand on his own merits since then. From what I have seen he is flopping and wobbling about like a trout trying to loose a hook.
He still has no idea what he stands for. It might be one thing this week and something else next.
He courted the Christian right. Oops that got him a negitive. Then he disavowed that connection to try to reach more moderate people. Now he is back trying to lure the Christian right vote. Different tactics this time though.
And as for not having lobbyists on his Bus...bulls**t. Karl Rove is right in there pitching and some others I am sure suck. Nathan Adelson come to mind.
McCain is no more than a George Bush wanna be that will continue the same worn out garbage we have been fed for the last eight years.
So America if want to keep up your war loving, terrorist fearing I can't fight syndrome by all means vote for McCain. He'll keep you as safe as his house in Arizona. But that is all.
Better check though he may not be too sure his lives there.
Want more Bush? I know I do not! -

Only a Marxist would even consider worrying about how many houses someone owns. Only a weak inexperienced senator that lives in a 4 million dollar house himself would bring the topic up.
Reply
Private property ownership is the hallmark of what America is.
Who is the most wealthy congress person who owns ‘property’ all over the US? Nancy Pelosi. She, along with her husband own thousands of apartment units and other properties.
I also wonder how much of the billions of dollars Feinstein and her war profiteering husband has been used to buy houses and other types of property?-

Nice try. Calling some one a Marxist might intimidate some people. However it does not bother me at all. A nice try as an opening gambit but it will not fly here.
I really don't care about tags.
My point was to say that McCain is an old man that can't keep track of his poops let alone a country. I just don't care how many homes he has. If he can't keep track of them it's not my problem. It is my problem if he becomes President and can't find his ass with both hands.
Marxist indeed you don't have a frigging clue do you? You just wish you had one.

to even mention that an American would support marxism... after all the historical failures of Communism... is just infantile! Oh well, repugs never learned anything from history anyway... as their only motivators are greed and bigotry!

You can get to stepping with that false indignation! Oh my McCain is senile! Yet, your guy that's under 50 thinks we have 57 states?
Reply
Obama is the most left leaning would be president of all times. Marxists don’t believe in personal property ownership Obama making a case against McCain’s ownership of properties makes him seem that way to me.
You really don't care about tags huh?
Let’s see, you said:
Rush Limp-Baugh
old man
can't keep track of his poops
It looks like you are quite comfortable with tags, as long as it's a one way street from your side of the isle.
Donnie, can you ever post something without calling someone a bigot for disagreeing with your guy and coming up with how they think his statement sounds? Is what I said bigotry? Were their bigoted words used or is the statement bigoted because you can only see the color of your candidates skin as a tool to silence dissent against him? That was a rhetorical question BTW in case you couldn’t figure that out.
After the last 8 years all the things you ‘claim’ about bush and the nasty things said about him and now McCain, I only can giggle at your outrage. -

Slate, you imply that Barack OBama lives in a 4 mil house. Get your facts straight. The house was purchased for 1.3 or 1.4 mil. The OBamas will be paying for it for a number of years. Both he and Michelle worked to get where they're at. McCain and wife did not.

You ought to look at the thread coming up on politics group that quotes all the right wing big mouths like Rush who bashed John Kerry for marrying into wealth. Where are they now? Strangely quiet.

But if Mccain's house were on fire, how would the firetruck know which one to go to?

And for the record, anyone who has the ambition to make real the profession of love they have for their country, wants someone sane to be president.
And anyone who does not know how many houses they own, is not sane by American standards.

How many houses does McCain own? None
Reply
The McCains have a pre-nuptial agreement that separates their finances.
Sen. McCain himself does not own any of the properties. They’re all owned by Cindy McCain, her dependent children and the trusts and companies they control
John McCain has no involvement in his wife’s business affairs, he would have little knowledge of the assets in her portfolio
BTW the DNC KNEW this when they vetted McCain for VP in 04.
The DNC knew that the McCain’s finances are separate, always have been.
Looks like Obama’s and the DNC are panicking; this is going to backfire bigger than Obama’s excellent Euro tour-

McCain owns too many houses. He is rich through his wife. She ain't bad looking either. When you can't keep track of how many houses you own you are living on easy street. What an important issue. Oh, I see, it proves McCain is senile, I get it. How many houses did Kerry own or Kennedy? Who cares? Even McCain doesn't care. He might have more important things on his mind, like remembering the name of the leaders of Iraq and Pakistan. I hope he can remember Barak Obama's name. Could we have a story about what you think are important platforms a President should have and promote? What a waste of news space. But I look sometimes just for fun so I can make disparaging remarks about those who bother to seriously comment on such junk.

Who wouldn't know how many homes they own? I guess McCain feels guilty about owning so many homes when the POLICIES of the Bush administration has caused massive foreclosures.
It's the war, the attack on civil liberties, and oh yes the gas prices that bother people.
Smart voters will vote out every filthiy Repuli-CON including the ELITE who cannot remember how many homes they own. -
