The Coquille are a brave tribe who realize that discrimination in any form cannot be tolerated. They and the Cherokee should be commended for recognizing the rights of others despite what the state of Oregon may say. As for DOMA, it should be repealed anyway.

      Great!

Now, when is our government going to do the same?

Don't hold your breath. As long as the "government" continues to inject it's puritanical beliefs on the general populace and continues to regulate 'morality'...this will never come to fruition.

I applaud any group that recognizes marriage between two people regardless of sexual preference. Marriage, to me, is the union of two loving partners, sharing a common bond and commitment.

This issue will eventually reach a tipping point and will become a non-issue.

This reminds me of a story about bigotry from my own life. I remember an icy snowy day in the 20th century, when my then 80+ year old mother decided to wear pants to church. Many other women had dressed similarly in the bitterly cold weather.

The minister actually started ranting in the service that women not wearing skirts were sinful. My mother stood up and called him an outdated sexist pig, told him she rescinded her membership, and walked out. My dad loved it, and said more than 1/2 of the women and some of the men got up and walked out with her. They went to breakfast together.

Later that evening, after very few showed up for the evening service, the preacher showed up at her house, saying he'd made a mistake, he was sorry, and begging her to come back. Those tithes work wonders!

Once people see it as an economic plus, they'll wonder why they didn't welcome gays into human society earlier.
