Prompted, it seems, by concerns over John McCain's foot-in-the-mouth admission that he did not know the number of houses he owned, aides to the Senator, GOP officials and conservative activists unleashed a torrent of attacks in an effort to deflect attention to Barack Obama.

    FTA:
The Kitchen sink counter attack is almost certainly a coordinated effort to move the media - if not the political discussion - away from McCain's gaffe. And, by and large, the press has not taken the bait, likely because the meme that McCain is an elitist is fresh compared to the Obama lines (which were hit to death in the primary).

In a way, this could be a blessing for the Obama campaign. In all likelihood, McCain and his GOP allies were set to trot the Rezko and Ayers attacks out as the election approaches. They still might. But having those cards played in late August makes them all the more unremarkable if they are brought up again in late October.

I guess I owe you Obamans an apology. I had no idea I was supposed to respond to the how-many-houses non-issue by throwing the kitchen sink at Obama. Next time I'll try to do a better job of staying with the script that you Dems so desparately need to think we have.

There, there, widdle Bawack fans...is it all better now ???

        Off topic...

Good Morning America just presented a text message announcing Biden as the VP. The text message purportedly came from "a friend" of one of the commentators. It read that Obama has chosen Biden as "our VP."

No bias there. Nosiree. And even if the "friend" was a member of the Obama campaign, the correct presentation, assuming partiality was to rear its ugly head, would have been to replace "our" with a bracketed [his].

McCain was exonerated of all Keating charges along with Dem John Glen the other 3 DEMOCRATS were convicted. You see all John McCain and John Glen did was go to the Meeting with Keating neither granted Keating special favors therefore no laws were broke. AGAIN McCain did NOTHING for Keating, but three DEMOCRATS DID! and those 3 were convicted! GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT

He turns 72- shows experience and wisdom. His mom is 96 takes clean living to live that long.
HOW OLD IS BIDEN ? Hint same age bracket! According to a Leak he is Obama's VP the age card don't play.

It really should have been the Keating 3 . With 2 spectators that went along to hear Keating out. For three acted on what Keating wanted and were convicted. 2 did nothing (McCain and Glen) other than listen to what Keating wanted them to do. Obama's house dealings with convicted felon Rezko ARE ALLOT more suspicious.

McCain wasn't convicted but "Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five

Hmm, poor judgment. I don't know-he did get $112,000 out of the deal. http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/1989-11-29/news/mccain-the-most-reprehensible-of-the-keating-five/1

By the way, Biden, six years younger than McCain, won't be running for president.

Ok, you supplied a link and lied at the same time. McCain did not get $112,000 out of the deal! The $112,000 was previous contributions. The reason one investigator thought he and John Glen exercised poor judgment wasn't the contribution, but was that they went to the meeting.
I somewhat understand that, here you have someone in trouble which helped you get elected part of you wants to at least hear what he has to say maybe you can help in a legitimate way, but you better be prepared for a illegal proposal also..
John McCain had reservations about going, but through urging went anyway. Where John McCain showed Character is that he stood up to Keating and didn't take the wrong path, but that somehow doesn't get mentioned.

HERE is a LINK that the whole story and the TRUTH can be found! Quote from the link:

McCain told Keating that he would attend the meeting and find out whether Keating was getting treated fairly but that was all.

The democrats are the ones that trash the constitution. 1. They want to eliminate the right to bear arms which is contrary to the constitution 2. They want to eliminate free speech with the fairness doctrine and already passed laws restricting what pastors can say in church regarding political candidates which brings us to item #3 They passed a law regarding religion which is in DIRECT VIOLATION of the CONSTITUTION for the constitution says "Congress shall pass NO law regarding the establishment of Religion or the FREE exercise thereof"! 4. 14th amendment sec 1. You have the RIGHT to LIFE, LIBERTY and PROPERTY. Allowing a living abortion to die from starvation on the operating table (As the law Obama voted to pass) is in direct violation of this. Infact all abortion maybe subject to this, but the answer to whether or not this applies to all abortion was answered by Obama recently - He said that it was "above my pay grade" to determine when life begins.Well I can tell you and its NOT above my pay grade which is ALLOT less than Obama's pay so IT appears that Obama needs a HUGE pay cut!

It was obvious that Obama was referring to God when he used the pay grade reference. You, obviously, feel you're better than that, which is why you present your factually deficient opinions with no substantiating links.

I don't think it is so obvious but more a not my job kind of quip. If that is what he was referring to That quantifies God to a dollar amount and I don't think you can do that anyway!

Well, I have to admit you are right about his statement not being obvious. At least not to everyone. It seemed so to me. I should have remembered the old adage about assumptions.

Still, looking at it your way, I am not sure that I want any president telling us when it should be decided that life begins or ends.

But to accuse Obama of wanting living babies to die of starvation is quite a bit over the top. Here is a link, which I hope you will read in its entirety and not cherry pick: www.ontheissues.org slash social slash barack_obama_abortion.htm

(I apologize, inserting links and even punctuation marks such as slash and apostrophes is not working. I am going to restart and see if that helps.)

I went to your link explaining Obama's stance given that I can see your interpretation as possible to what obama meant- regardless I still don't agree with him on this issue.

                          http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NzRhZTgzNmRlZWE0MTA1YTM4...&w=MA==

Most Doctors believe life begins at conception. Doctors who make their living off of abortion tend to disagree. Almost immediately the fertilized egg takes the shape of a baby. In 21-28 days the baby has a heart beat (before most even know they are pregnant) The baby feels pain and saline BURNS them! Many are changing their views on abortion since ultra sound has improved to the point parents can see the baby interact to touch. Abortion is always riskier than than natural child birth to the mother! That alone should give one a clue as to if we should be doing this. And if your definition of it's up to GOD to decide when life begins, then WHO are we to deny it? I've always been taught that you error on the side of safety!

I have read Obama's counter remarks on why he voted like he did in the Illinois senate- but oops he did it again in subcommittee on the federal level as Senator! I take little to heart what obama says he changes directions more than the wind! 2004 he said he wouldn't run in 2008 since he was too inexperienced well I agree with that statement, but again as in many times he didn't stay true to his promise! I don't dislike obama but there is too many risks to take with him- his background being one of them- his abortion stand being another- he's quick to throw out the race card. No most of us out here are not going on race, but Character and stance! Will obamas change in these areas - I hope so but allot of times that comes with AGE and wisdom

PS. I do like some of the things he wants to do, national health care (done right and NOT for abortions) I support. Some of his plans to keep jobs from going over seas are not totally bad. We need to support growth of overseas manufacturing in a global economy, but not at the expense of ourselves I am now off topic so the end

                            # Andrew McCarthy on "Why Obama really voted for infanticide?"

The shocking extremism of that position - giving infanticide the nod over compassion and life - is profoundly embarrassing to him now.

So he has lied about what he did. He has offered various conflicting explanations, ranging from the assertion that he didn't oppose the anti-infanticide legislation (he did), to the assertion that he opposed it because it didn't contain a superfluous clause reaffirming abortion rights (it did), to the assertion that it was unnecessary because IL law already protected the children of botched abortions (it didn't - and even if it arguably did, why oppose a clarification?).

What Obama hasn't offered, however, is the rationalization he vigorously posited during the 2002 IL senate debate....

OK, restarting worked. Here's the link to Obama's position on the abortion issue: http://www.ontheissues.org/Social/Barack_Obama_Abortion.htm

Now, here are the points you made that I'd like you to substantiate with links: "The democrats are the ones that trash the constitution." And the ones you numbered 1, 2, and 3.

Right to bear arms : The supreme court just ruled on this one contrary to Obama's stand. The four Liberal Justices that were the dissenters must not be able to read along with Obama The right to bear arms SHALL not be infringed! What is scary is that just one more justice on the other side of this issue and Obama type thinking would have won. And Clearance Thomas a Justice who can read got it right no wonder Obama said that Clearance Thomas was the one judge he wouldn't have appointed Clearance can READ!

Technically speaking, all non-profits are to forego endorsement of political candidates. It's just that liberal blinders keep them from seeing any transgression of the rules EXCEPT for any words coming from a morally conservative Christian.

If he is then praise the Lord, but I still haven't been alerted. Obama's camp is notoriously tight lipped on things; but then again I came across multiple "signs" of it, such as Biden suddenly altered his behavior with reporters and the like today.

If he did pick Biden, great. I've been saying he should since June!

Hey...we're delighted that Obama finally has a daddy figure. It's been a long time coming, and hopefully the connection will help Obama mature into a normal adult.

Just think...if Obama had had a mature adult male in his life 20 years ago, he might not have established a life-long bond with a racist bigot. I think even Biden could have helped Obama navigate around that one.

Your comments are just plain childish.

Yes the addition of Biden to the ticket gives it the foreign policy as well as just general experience that it needs. These are good things making this candidate truly the best one for the job.

Do you really think that, if asked directly, Obama would not know how many states there were? Tired, he said "fifty" instead of "forty" (Check Snopes, Propeller is not accepting links, or some punctuations marks currently, for some reason.)

McCain, on the other hand, was asked directly and said that he had to check with his staff about how many houses he had.

The point is, it is ridiculous for McCain, a multi-millionaire who can not keep track of his assets, to infer that Obama is an elitist.

Obama...new, fresh, and a different candidate????He picks probably the one man in the Senate who is the exact opposite. Biden has been in the Senate since 1973 (quite a bit lon ger than McCain). Im not sure but in 1973 wasnt McCain in a POW camp? Hes old enough to have been sharing playdates with McCain. Hes failed at previous runnings at the presidency, once in humilation for using someone elses speech. We have seen Biden have meltdowns with his temper also. I for one am grateful for his choice. He couldnt have picked any better. Get ready for President McCain and you only have Obama to blame.

So, now we're voting for the Vice President? Like, Obama's Vice President is almost as old as McCain (6 years younger) and that means...? Let's see how McCain's VP pick stacks up to Biden. Then, let's forget that and vote for the guy that won't be Bush's third term.

The GOP has nothing to run on except fear. Look what they have in the last 7 years alone. They could have accomplished anything that they wanted and all they have done is start a war based on lies, run up the highest deficit in history, and ruined the economy.
